《The Other Side Of The Lens》40. When In New York

My eyes open slowly due to my sleep drifting away. The sunlight is streaming from the window and lightning up the room. I look around and see that Veronica and I's clothing is scattered across the floor.

Thoughts about last night come back into my mind and I smile. I look down and see her laying on my chest peacefully sleeping. Her lips are parted slightly releasing light snores. Her warmth covers body due to our bare skin touching.

Last night was one I'll never forget.

"Are you sure? I ask her one more time and she nods. Even though she said she's ready, her face tells me otherwise. I don't want her to think that I'm inpatient and can't wait. For her, I would wait forever if that meant she was ready.

"I'm ready," she looks up at me and smiles. She's so beautiful. "I want this."

I nod my head and lean down to kiss her.

This night will forever be engraved in my mind."

Veronica starts to move and I look down at her with a smile. Her eyes start to open but close right away due to the sunlight. She nuzzles her face closer to my chest and lets out a sigh.

Beautiful.

"Good morning," I whisper softly and a sleepy smile appears on her face. Her eyes begin to open once again and she looks up at me through her lashes.

"Morning," she whispers back. I place a light kiss on her forehead and continue running my hands through her hair.

"How are you feeling?" I ask her as she moves a little. I extend my arm out so she can lay her head on my bicep. She turns to look at me once she's laying down again and smiles.

"Good," she scoots closer to me until our noses are almost touching. I close the gap between us and press a gentle kiss against her lips. "I love you," she says as she pulls away and looks at me.

"I love you V," I wrap my other arm around her and hold her tightly. God if I can just hold her in my arms forever I would. I feel light kisses being placed on my collar bone and I chuckle. She moves her head back and laughs lightly. Music to my ears.

"I slept super good. You tired me out," I laugh and stare into those eyes that make me feel loved.

"I'll never forget last night."

Her eyes soften and she has this glow on her skin. Her cheeks are a bit pink since she just woke up, her hair is smoothed down since I kept brushing it. The sunlight illuminates her and makes her look like an angel. My sweet girl. No one else can or will replace her spot in my heart.

"You're my everything Veronica. I love you so much and I would do anything to spend every moment with you." I grab her face gently and feel my eyes water. "I'm gonna marry you someday and when I see you walk down the aisle, it's gonna be a moment I will always think about. We're gonna have our own house and two little kids running around. Hopefully a boy and a girl," I sniffle and I see she's crying.

"I can't wait to grow old with you. God has blessed me with someone so, so amazing and beautiful, the list goes on and on Veronica." We're both a crying mess by this point. "I love you," I laugh while wiping her tears, my forehead touches hers and I hear her small sniffles.

"Mateo," she whispers. "God I love you so much. A lot. I can't wait for what the future holds for us." She pulls back and brushes my hair back.

Even the little things she says make my heart race.

"Also, how did you know I wanted two kids?"

A smile forms on my face and I shrug my shoulders. "Is it weird that I have some names already planned?"

She shakes her head and lets out a laugh. "I do too Mateo. I always loved the name Salma for a girl."

"I like that, a lot actually. For a boy I liked the name Santiago. What do you think?"

Her face lights up at the name. She nods her head quickly with a bright smile. "I love that! Salma and Santiago, it sounds good together. Can you just imagine when they're teens? I always wanted to have a boy first and then a girl, that way our baby girl can have an older brother. Oh! What if we get a dog once we move in together?"

I watch her in awe as she talks about having a little family with me. My heart swells as she sits up and continues talking. That glow shines brighter across her skin and I admire every single inch of her inside and out, she's the love of my life.

She stops talking all of a sudden and covers her mouth. "Am I talking too much? I'm sorr-"

"Don't say you're sorry, Vero. I love hearing you talk. I love you."

"I love you," she leans down and kisses me.

I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

After staying in bed for an hour more, we both got cleaned up and dressed for the day. Veronica told me she had a plan but she hasn't told me what we're doing.

"Okay," she claps her hands and walks towards me. "Sit please."

I take a seat on the bed and pull her in between my legs. My hands rest on the back of her thighs as she's still standing. Her hands run through my hair and stop at the back of my neck.

"So, I asked my Mom if it was okay for just us, Ali, and Alejandro to walk around. She said it was okay since her and Ali's Mom wanted to go look at this thing."

I nod my head and pull her closer to me. Her cheeks turn a little red and I smirk at the reaction. "Well what are we going to do?"

"I had the brilliant idea of...getting tattoos and piercings!" My eyes widen at what she says.

"Really?" I ask.

"You know what they say, when in New York...get tattoos and piercings." She confidently says and I begin to laugh.

"Sweetheart," I say once I catch my breath. "I don't think anyone says that."

She looks at me with a serious face for a second and then begins to laugh. "Well I thought it would make sense since people say 'when in Rome' you know."

I brush some of her hair behind her ear and nod. "And are you gonna get a tattoo?"

"Mmm I don't know," she shrugs. "Maybe but I mostly want to get more piercings. I want to get my cartilage pierced and add another one on my lobe." She points to the spots and I nod. I've been planning on adding a tattoo so this is good.

"Are you gonna get a tattoo?" She asks as if she just read my mind.

"Yeah, but I want it to be a surprise so don't ask."

She rolls her eyes and grabs my face. Her warm lips kiss mine and I melt under her touch. She tries to pull away but I grab the back of her head and continue kissing her. I can feel her smile against my lips and it feels like I'm in heaven.

"Mmm," she attempted to pull back again and this time I let her. We both catch our breath as we stare at each other. Her lips are swollen and looking more tempting as ever. I just want to bring her back into bed and redo what we did last night.

"Let's go. Ali and Ale are waiting downstairs." I nod and stand up from the bed.

Just like Veronica said, "When in New York..." well I don't really know what to say after, all I know is that I'm in New York with the love of my life.
