"Ladybug," He asked hesitantly, "Can I talk to you?" He looked at her with those eyes of his.

"Adrien I really can't I'm on patrol." She responded as he was pulling her hand for her to start swinging her yo-yo.

"Please Ladybug. It will only take a moment." She sighed, forcing herself not to roll her eyes.

"Alright Adrien but please make it quick." She said allowing herself to be led into the recording room. He motioned for her to sit.

"I thought you said this was going to be quick..." She began.

"Please..." He said quietly motioning once more for her to sit down. She crossed her arms and looked at him expectantly, making it clear that she would not be sitting down at the edge of the roof. Coming to the conclusion that this was the best he would get from her he took a deep breath and cleared his throat. "Ladybug... I love you. I... I don't really have much more than my heart to offer you... But it is yours if you want it... I'm not doing this very well am I..." He sighed muttering to himself, "Anyway M'lady I wanted to know, I mean I was wondering if you would be my girlfriend." There. He said it.

Ladybug stared wide-eyed at the man before her sinking into the previously offered chair. Her heart had fallen into her stomach in lost though by as her mind filled with the thought. 'I never want to see you again,' he had said to her and left Marinette for Ladybug. All those cruel hurtful words he had said, ... Just thinking that the man she had known and loved all her life couldn't care less about her... The reality of that made her stomach turn causing her to gag. She tried to conceal it with a cough but she couldn't hide the tears which had come unbidden and were now pouring from her eyes. Adrien looked at her feeling extremely helpless his face showing complete confusion. He didn't know what had happened... Had he said something wrong? When he tried to comfort her she just pushed him away.

"What... What about Marinette?" She managed to ask quietly through her sobs. He knelt beside her taking her hand in his, saying what he believed would make her happy again.

"What about Marinette? She means nothing to me. Not like you Ladybug. I love you. I didn't think I knew what love was till you. Even under the mask. Please- What's wrong? Why won't you tell me? I don't understand." He looked at her more confused than ever.

"No... No, you wouldn't understand..." She looked away laying her head in her hands hoping the queasy feeling in her stomach would stop. "I am sorry Adrien. That you feel that way." She said rising to her feet.

"Sorry for what? What's going on!" He cried beginning to lose patience with the hysterical girl. How was he supposed to help her if she wouldn't tell him what was wrong!

"You are in love with an illusion..." she breathed silently. "I mean, it's not your fault Adrien. It's mine really. It's all my fault. I wanted to tell you... I tried to tell you... I really did... But then... then things kept happening and I thought I would lose you... You would never have forgiven me for keeping this from you... I didn't want to lose you, Adrien! You have to believe me... You wouldn't have understood..." She trailed off as Adrien threw up his arms in frustration.

"That you're a liar Marinette. I know your Ladybug. I hate deceit and you made a fool out of me! I never want to see you again!" He yelled at the top of his lungs.

"What you knew!" Ladybug said in teary eyes and shocked.

Adrien then nodded, "you used me... Goodbye Marinette you're even worse than Hawkmoth...." Then he turned around and disappeared.

An alarm started to set off as Marinette called for Adrien to come back. Then everything went black and Marinette woke up.

"Mari, what happens you're on the floor?" Tiki said in concern as Marinette looked around the room in fear, "you look like you had a nightmare."

"I did... Thank god it was just a dream..." Marinette sighed.

"Well, that happens when you sleep in," Tikki giggles as she hit the alarm off.

"Wait! What time is?" Marinette yelped at the time and rush to get ready for school.

Everything seems to get back together in the world. It was more normal that ladybug still saw Adrien but it was not an issue in their relationship. However, the guilt haunted her as she can't reverse this mistake. She often now got angry at Adrien for giving comments on comparing her to Ladybug. They had more serious arguments as Adrien had less and less time for Marinette as she knew he was with Ladybug. During this time Nathaniel and Marinette have been getting closer although Marinette has not grown any affection to Nathaniel. Making it a hard time for Nathaniel to win her over as she only saw him as a friend. She can't get her love together and it getting riskier every time as they lose trust in each other.

"Hey thanks for letting me talk about this," Marinette thanked as they hung at the park. Marinette felt like she hasn't been able to talk to anyone. Alya and Nino would try to fix the issue and she didn't want to express her feelings with Luka because of how he felt towards her.

"Hey, relax." Nathaniel smiled, gently placing his hand on hers. " Let's not worry about the rumors or the media."

As she looked into Nathaniel's kind eye, and easily focused on him that everything around them seems nonexistent. "Thanks" Marinette sighed.

Nathaniel chuckled, "By the way, has anyone ever told you how unbelievably beautiful your eyes are?"

"No, not recently," Marinette replied a bit distracted at pigeon by the fountain.

"I find it hard to believe." Nathaniel flashed a smile.

"Well, it's true." Marinette shrugged as she didn't pay attention to too much of what he was saying.

"Okay, then." Nathaniel grinned, "I'll bring it up as often I can so you can smile."

"You do that," Marinette said coquettishly feeling a little awkward with his compliments, "Thanks for lunch."

"No problem but it seems you distracted you haven't eaten," Nathaniel pointed toward her untouched food.

"I'm sorry but I am just having issues," Marinette shrugs poking the remains on her plate and thought back to her nightmare.

"Is it Adrien?" Nathaniel said in concern a bit irritated at the mention of Adrien's name.

"Yeah... It's complicated." Marinette mumbled.

"Well I hope it works out," Nathaniel sighed as knew he wasn't going anywhere. He then spotted Luka biking bye which gave Nathaniel an idea.

"Hey isn't that Juleaka brother?" Nathaniel asked as he started waving towards him. With his luck he caught Luka's attention come over.

"Luka!" Marinette squirmed as it was too late for her to stop Nathaniel from calling her, "What are you doing Nath?

"Look Mari, I care for you but I can't help. Luka can," Nathaniel says as he got up, "He cares for you."

Marinette wanted to stop him but she knew he was right.

"That's weird," Luka said as he drove his bike towards her, "Why's Nathaniel leaving?"

"He had to go see Marc," Marinette said as she awkwardly sat in her spot on the bench.

"Your melody is off," Luka pouted as parked his bike and sat next to her.

Marinette sighed as she needed to tell someone, "Yeah... it's Adrien."

"What's going on?" Luka immediately asked.

"Don't get me wrong. I enjoy spending time with him, he's a great amazing guy and we always have a blast- and he's sweet and thoughtful and polite and always has my back, and I love him dearly for it all I mean, care for him dearly." Marinette pauses.

"Care? Don't you mean love?" Luka questioned as she would speak higher of Adrien when she had a crush on him.

"Yeah, I do that what I meant. I was in love with him so much it was an over obsession before we dated. Now that we are in a relationship you learn what it really is. I mean, maybe I do, but with what I know, I'm just not sure. Not just yet. Not until I know." Marinette mumbles.

"If you are doubting him why don't you leave him?" Luka comments.

"I don't even know who is he kissing?" Marinette shakes her head.

"What?"

"I feel like I need to play a role with him, but I don't know what role to play," Marinette explained.

"You don't have to play a role Mari," Luka said as he gently pulled her face to face him, "You are extraordinary. You don't need to change."

"If I lose him?" Marinette asked.

Luka knew that what was keeping cherade together, she didn't want to be broken. Luka pulled her closer so she would look at the sincerity in his eyes, "He's the one who going to lose."

Marinette nodded as her heart flutter for finally understanding, "Thank you I'm going to talk to him." Marinette kissed his cheek as she left on her way.

"I hate myself for even thinking this way. If I care for Adrien so much, then why shouldn't I let it go? I was the one who started this mess. I want to- I want to so, so very badly. It wouldn't be the first time I've ignored the signs, tried to move on from these things. But I can't. I should tell him the truth." Marinette thought to herself. "But he's been hiding something from me, I know it. And I'm it. Sometimes- a lot of times, actually- he looks guilty about it. Like he knows he's hiding something from me, lying to me, hurting me... but he refuses to do anything about it. Maybe this wouldn't work out after all."

Maybe playing him with Ladybug just open her eyes to the truth of how he be if he was with another girl. Her jealousy over Adrien's attachment to her alter ego won't fade and the rift between them will only increase, the longer she waits.
