《Alaska: Queen of the Vampires》Chapter 23: Married and Mauled

"I wanna go back to sleep. I'm tired," Avian huffed.

"It's 9am," I laughed.

Avian and I had been up since 5am since I couldn't sleep much after that dream. It's not like I couldn't. I just didn't want to. Arian was too hungover to be woken up by me prancing around the room so I went to Avian's room and we sat outside in the balcony watching the sun rise.

"Planning on giving my cousin some action tonight?" Avian teased childishly.

"No!" I gagged and hid my blush behind my hands, covering my face. "Why? Did he say something?" I asked shyly.

"Do you want him to say something?" He smirked.

"Avian!"

"I'm kidding, jeez! Stop hitting me!" He laughed and moved away from me. He looked at his slightly reddened bare chest and pouted at the abuse he suffered at my hands. I rolled my eyes and smiled at him. I was pretty comfy being curled up in a fur blanket with a bag of gummy bags.

"It's just that people generally have sex after a fight," he said. I shrugged. Awkward. So freakin awkward. "Sex isn't the answer to everything," I mumbled softly, hoping he wouldn't think I'm a prude.

"Sex is not the answer."

I jumped up hearing Arian's voice all of a sudden. I turned and looked at him dressed in black sweat pants and a white tee shirt. His hair was disheveled and he his eyes looked really tired and worn out. I blushed. "I-I-

"Sex is the question to which yes is the answer," he smirked and messed my hair up.

I swatted his hand away and blushed furiously from inside but rolled my eyes at him. He didn't expect me to have sex with him tonight, did he? "I'm sorry if I did anything horrendous yesterday. It won't happen again. I promise," Arian sighed.

"Apology accepted," Avian declared.

Arian glared at his cousin.

"The apology was for Alaska, dumbass. I've handled all of your fuckery all these years." Avian snorted.

"Excuse me! I'm just like the sun-"

"It gives you a headache," Arian cut him off.

"I was going to say vibrant and filled with warmth!" Avian huffed.

I shook my head and laughed at their behaviour. We spent another hour talking about random childhood memories and they tricked me into sharing my most embarrassing moments with them.

"What happens when you find your mate?" I asked Avian.

He groaned.

"I won't accept her. Or him. Either way." He shrugged.

I did not know he's bisexual.

Well that explains his obsession with himself...

"Ideally when he finds his mate after he turns 18, she has to move into the Magderian Castle with him. She gets crowned Queen and they live happily ever after," Arian said.

"Happily ever after is just a story that hasn't ended yet," I said with a smile.

"That's not going to happen though. I prefer being single."

We watched in awe as the bride, Summer, walked down the aisle. It was so romantic and just like it was pulled out of a fairy tail. I smiled remembering how the 12 year old me would dream about my wedding to a prince.

I looked at Arian and smiled.

Who knew dreams could come true?

"Penny for your thoughts?" Arian whispered with a smile of his own. I looked at him and shook my head with a small smile. He'd just get creeped out if I told him about my dreams of marrying a prince.

"Remember when we used to play the wedding bride?" Avian snickered.

"What?!"

"You better shut the fuck up," Arian hissed at his cousin.

"Yeah," Avian waved him off and grinned, "Adrian was the prince and Arian was the damsel in distress who fell madly in love with the prince."

I laughed. "And what were you?"

"I was the evil cousin who kidnapped the princess on the day of her wedding. Then Adrian and I would duel and whoever won got to kiss the princess," he snickered.

"He's lying!" Arian protested.

"Am I?"

"You just want to embarrass me in front of my girl," Arian grumbled.

My girl.

I smiled.

I took the piece of cake Avian was holding in his hand and he gave me a look which I returned with a smile. I watched as Arian gave his cake to Avian and I bit back an aww.

These two would make such an awesome couple!

Avian snorted. I looked up to see a bright red tint to my mate's cheeks and a huge grin on Avian's face. "See? Even your mate things we'd make a hot couple!"

"That's practically incest," Arian said with a disgusted look.

"It's not fair that you guys can hear my thoughts," I grumbled.

"Partying without me?"

We turned to see Adrian in an all black suit with his hair messed up and clothes slightly crumpled. He pulled out a necklace out of his pocket and gave it to me. "Wear this. If it turns red, you run. Don't look back. Just run."

"What the fuck happened?" Arian asked.

"Is something wrong?" I asked at the same time.

Adrian sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He looked defeated. "I was controlling the spirits this morning," he told Arian. Arian seemed to understand and looked around warily, subconsciously moving closer to me. Avian too knew what they were talking about.

"I'm not wearing this until you tell me what's going on," I demanded.

They guided me towards a bridge above the pond where there was no one but us. It was quiet and peaceful and no would would be able to hear whatever it is they were going to discuss.

"I have a mate," Adrian said softly with a sad look.

"Cara Velius," he continued, "she died before I could even meet her. Her parents were witches so they preserved her body until they found a way to bring her back to life."

Cara. Adrian's mate.

"Fate had other plans though. My best friend Elliot's mate, Milan, needed a body to change into after someone tried to kill her. That's when she found Cara's body and Milan's soul was transferred into my mate's body."

I was blank.

"It's possible to switch bodies?" I asked.

"Only if you're strong enough," Arian said.

"The magic used to transfer Milan's soul into my mate was linked to someone named Ezekiel whom I had to kill in order to save Milan. I knew that by killing him I'd lose my mate and lose her I did. Milan's soul went back into her original body and Cara's soul was taken with Ezekiel to wherever he disappeared."

"Oh my god, Adrian, that's horrible," I gasped. He was willing to lose his mate for the sake of his best friend!

"For years now we've been finding a way to resurrect Cara," Avian told me.

"But what could you three possibly do to bring her back? Don't you need someone that can contact the dead?" I asked.

"A necromancer," Adrian said.

"Yes, exactly!"

"You're looking at him, sweetheart," he said with a smile.

I blinked.

"Y-You? A necromancer? But you're so normal!" I mumbled in confusion. I looked at Arian for confirmation of what Arian just said. He shrugged.

"Let me explain," Avian laughed. "We're descendants of Hectate, the god of magic and power which means that each one of us have our own gifts. Mine is Pyrokinesis and power mimicry which means that I can control fire as well as absorb someone else's powers temporarily and use them as my own."

"Is this too much of information for you?" Arian asked.

"No, it's alright. Do you have powers too?"

"Indeed, I do. Mine is psychometry and clairvoyance. Psychometry gives me the ability to touch an object and determine the past and future of anything or anyone who owns that object. Clairvoyance is using a crystal ball to talk to the dead."

Arian spoke softly and slowly, looking deep into my eyes as if trying to tell me that despite all his creepy abilities to deal with spirits, he's still the same person I know.

"Here, let me show you," he said. He took my hand and slipped off the wring that I wore on my finger. It was given to me by my dad. Arian took the ring in his palm and shut his eyes.

"Seraphine Ivanov," he mumbled.

"My grandmother," I said in surprise.

"This was given to her by your grandfather before he left for war. It was the last thing he ever gave her. It was passed on to your mother and now to you. It shall then be given to-"

He stopped abruptly and cleared his throat.

"To our daughter," I whispered.

"To our daughter," he repeated.

A part of me was happy that I would start a family with Arian someday yet the other part of me was overwhelmed and slightly scared of the extent of the powers of this family. What am I getting myself into?

"Ahem," Adrian coughed and grumbled.

"Right," Arian said, looking away from me, "So what happened?" Adrian swallowed hard. "I don't know I was controlling the spirits and there were these evil spirits most of which I contained but..."

"You've got to be kidding me," Arian groaned.

"I wish I could say that, honestly." Adrian shrugged.

"So there's a wedding full of people and evil spirits on the loose. Lovely. Just lovely," I said. I slipped the necklace on and felt it turn red immediately. "Guys?" I called out.

Adrian and Arian spun around and seeing the necklace turn red, they looked at Avian who was looking down. My eyes travelled lower to see what he was staring at.

I screamed.

Summer's head, still holding the veil on it's crown, was fallen at his feet.
