《Caught In The Loop | Steve Harrington X Reader》~2~ Make A Name

"MAX! Y/N! HURRY UP!!"
"OKAY!!" I hiss.
Max stomps out with her skateboard while I have my bag on my back. There's stuff in there that I keep quite close to me and sentimental as well as for self-defense or medical things.
"Have fun at school kids!" Susan calls out.
"We will!" I reply.
Billy grumbles something to Max and I merely roll my eyes. "What'd I say about rolling your eyes Y/N?"
"Shut up Billy."
Max and Billy get in the front while I sit around the back. Billy revs his engine up and drives off loudly. He's quite speedy as well so I keep my window up as I watch the outside. It doesn't take long for us to get to our school, Max will have to skate off to her own.
The tires skid loudly against the ground and the engine roars loudly. Billy parks in one place and opens his door. More like kicks it. He takes a step out of the car and slams the door shut. Max groans and gets out her car, pushing her seat forward so I can get out.
"Thanks, Max."
"No problem."
Max goes off in her own direction as Billy has another cigarette, leaning against his blue car. I glance my head toward two figures who stare at us.
Well, gee. If I'm not wrong. I would say that's Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington. They're both together still?
Billy stares off at them silently before tossing his cigarette and looking away. Steve looks toward me then Nancy. I ignore the attention the girls give Billy as I walk over to the pair of them.
"Hiya. I'm new here."
Nancy smiles sweetly. "Nice to meet you, I'm Nancy. This is Steve!"
Steve merely waves and I grin at them both. Steve has the long cool looking brown hair with brown eyes while Nancy has the nice wavy tied up hair with blue eyes.
"Oh cool! My name's Y/N."
"Y/N?" Steve asks.
I nod. "I've heard of you two before. I'm friends with Jonathan and I wanted to meet you guys."
Nancy smiles. "Awesome! Well since you're new, we could probably show you around. Right, Steve?"
Nancy looks up to him which he looks down at her. "Oh yeah, of course. Follow me."
Steve begins to lead the way and Nancy quickly follows. I try to keep a smile spread across my face but I have a feeling Steve doesn't like me just as I don't like him at all.
Nancy and Steve end up showing me around the library to the cafeteria to the different classes and all sorts of places.
"I need to go to the bathroom, you two stay here." Nancy quickly says.
Me and Steve both nod before she disappears to the restroom. Steve then glances down at me and I glare at him.
"You may be new but I know you're bad news." Steve growls.
"What are you talking about?" I huff.
"Don't act stupid okay?" He points at me.
"You're Billy's Sister and I know that Billy and you are two bad people okay? Don't hang around me and Nancy, don't even go near Jonathan or his little friends." He warns.

"Or what tough guy?" I say through gritted teeth, standing a bit taller to face him.
His eyes widen for a moment. "I know what you fucking did. I don't have a high opinion about you as all I know that you did is graffiti one of the movie signs and make it say 'Nancy The Slut Wheeler!'
"That was a while ago!" He protests. "And she still loves me!"
I step down. "Well." I snarl. "I don't know how she could like a guy like you."
I begin to walk away but he pulls my arm and I turn around to face him. "You are new here! You know nothing about Hawkins!"
"I know more than you think Harrington."
"Don't call me that!" He hisses.
"Or what?"
"Hey what's going on?" Nancy comes back from the bathroom. I flash her a kind smile and Steve's face softens.
"Nothing. Don't worry Nancy." Steve smiles.
The bell suddenly goes and we have to go off to our class. Nancy goes up and kisses him and he kisses her back. It makes me want to hurl. I turn around to go leave, even when Nancy calls my name.
* * *
It's halfway through the second class of the day and wanna know something funny?
Steve's in it. But no Nancy or Billy. It's English which Steve doesn't seem to be doing too well at. He's sitting alone as I am and the room is quite silent. There's a couple of students chattering but other than that it's quiet.
It's the first day. Might as well make an attempt to do something funny.
I rip up a piece of paper and curl it into a ball. I aim for Harrington and hit him in the head. It takes him by surprise and he looks up. His eyes instantly avert to mine which I'm giggling with joy. He snarls angrily and looks down.
"Hey, Harrington."
"What do you want?" He asks lowly as I take a seat in front of him.
"Heard you used to be the big woman's guy of the school or something like that. How come you became soft?"
"That's none of your business newbie." He states.
"Ouch." I pretend that hurt me. "But I think it would be a good idea if we attempted to get along."
"Why? So you can have a good reputation?"
"Reputation is for pussies."
"Then I guess you won't mind me destroying it."
He smirks but I slam my hand onto his wrist tightly so he can't move. His face quickly falls.
"I get that Billy is an asshole but you don't have to go hate hate hate on me just because I'm his sister. He'll kill anyone who tries to destroy or hurt the reputation of his sisters."
"He can't be that bad." Steve shakes his head.
My grip on his wrist gets tighter and he winces. "No. He's bad. Stay away from him if you don't want any trouble okay?"
"Why are you trying to give me advice newbie?"
I think about it for a moment. Why am I? I don't even care about Steve at all. He stares at me silently, looking for an answer but nothing comes out of my mouth. His long brown hair and brown eyes is...kind of mesmerizing as we kind of just...stare at each. My grip on his wrist loosens and he pulls his arm away.

He coughs and looks out the window. "I don't need your help okay? You can be friends with Nancy all you want but you are not friends with me."
I nod and sit back in my chair silently. We both look up as the bell rings and people begin escaping out. Including Steve who is the first to get out. I sigh and look away.
I get that Nancy is a good person but Steve doesn't seem to be the same guy I heard about a year ago. Why do I feel like Nancy could not...
I shake the feeling out my head and pick up my stuff.
"Hey! Y/N!" I turn my head around and smile widely when I see Nancy.
"Hey, Nancy! Hey Jonathan!"
"How was your first day at school?" He asks me as we walk down the hall. I open my mouth to say something but me and Nancy are given an orange piece of paper. Jonathan, however, is given nothing. I frown slightly and Nancy notices this.
I decide to read the orange slip as Nancy requests for a second piece of paper.
Tina's Halloween Rash!
Come and get sheet faced!
There are details on the back of the paper as to where we should go and a number too.
Nancy suddenly whips the second one in front of Jonathan and he looks down, taking it in.
"You're coming to this." Nancy chuckles. I grin at her then Jonathan. He sighs as we continue to walk.
"Come and get sheet faced." He says aloud.
"It sounds both awful and something to go to at the same time." I say, making both of them laugh.
"No, I'm not."
"Awe, why not?" I ask him.
"I'm going to it and we could still attempt to have a good time and get to know each other."
"She has a point, Jonathan. We can't let you sit all alone Halloween." Nancy adds.
"That's unacceptable." I nudge him.
"Well, you can both relax." He reassures. "I'm not gonna be alone. I'm going Trick-Or-Treating with Will."
"All night?" Nancy questions.
"Yeah." He nods.
"No. No." I shake my head.
"You're gonna be home by eight, listening to the Talk Heads and reading Vonnegut or something." Nancy assumes.
"Sounds like a nice night."
"Jonathan just come." Nancy pleads.
"I mean, hey look at this way. You could find someone you really really like." I suppose shrugging dramatically.
Me and Jonathan watch Nancy and I notice the guy dressed in blue with sunglasses, none other than Steve. He runs up behind her, picking her up and spinning her with a wide grin.
To he honest...he actually seems happy...
Me and Jonathan get taken by surprise by Steve's move as Nancy lets a startled scream out. Both of them end up chuckling.
"Oh my God! Take those stupid things off!" Nancy yelps.
I turn to look at Jonathan who frowns. He proceeds to walk off. I quickly look back at Nancy.
"I missed you." Steve purrs.
Oh, God.
I quickly follow Jonathan and follow his lead. He has a sad look on his face as we walk away from Nancy and Steve.
"You good there?"
"Yeah." He says looking up at me.
"Yeah. I'm fine."
I flash him a gentle smile. "I've seen how you looked at Nancy throughout the day, you like her don't you?"
He opens his mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. He huffs and looks away. "You know, you've always been quite smart Y/N."
"Well, I'm not oblivious."
He chuckles and I look back. Nancy stares in our direction before turning back to her locker.
"I don't like that Steve guy."
"You don't know him well...but I won't say that I prefer him either." Jonathan comments.
"There's something up about him and Nancy's relationship." I sigh lowering my head.
"This is literally my first day but I feel like their relationship will break somehow. They seem happy together but I still think that it might break..."
Jonathan gives me a confused look but doesn't comment.
"How's Will doing...may I ask?"
He looks down at me. "Jonathan. I know about the place, that dimension." His eyes widen for a moment and we stop walking.
"How?"
"I found information about it before it was closed off to the public. I know that's private news and I don't plan on saying anything. I wouldn't do that to you guys."
He sighs and puts his hands in his pockets. "What's the name of the place?"
"The Upside Down."
"Shit."
"I know Will got caught in it and I just wanna know if he's okay. I only know bits and pieces."
He nods and takes my arm, leading me to the back of the school.
"I'll tell you what happened but keep your mouth shut about it."
I nod. "Promise."
"Okay." He breathes.
Jonathan explains everything that happened. Will goes missing, talks through the lights, the Upside Down, Eleven, the monsters, Nancy's friend Barbara passes away, Joyce and a police officer named Hopper goes to get him and now he's doing some sort of like...medical check for these episodes he has.
"Holy shit Jonathan!"
"Will is gonna be taken out of school later today to go and do that. He sometimes feels like he's being treated like a little kid."
"I mean, I guess I can see why he feels like that and I can see why you treat him like that. He's only like what...12? 11?"
"He's 13 now."
"That's exactly my point." I sigh.
Jonathan leans up against the wall and crosses his arms. "Do you...I dunno. Coming by every so often for Will. Just treat him normally."
"Don't worry. I used to do babysitting for kids of many ages. I know what to do. But I won't pressure him either. I've learned over the years of when a kid feels pressured and if they hide anything. Because believe me."
I look away. "I know what it's like to hide stuff from my own family and they would never notice a thing."
