Eyes wide open

Window closed

Curtains drawn wide apart

The moon light is slowly

Lulling me to sleep

It's 3am and I am thinking

of a few things

A lost button from my third grade uniform

A flower pressed between pages of my old journal

A penny I found on the street and pocketed when I was eleven

An apple shaped eraser I stole from a friend

An egg I'd cracked on my sister's head

An oval shaped diamond in the hands of an unwilling princess

The smell of cheap alcohol and cigarettes

The sound of the school bell at 2 pm

The laughter of my best friend when I was dancing

It's 4am and I am thinking

of nothing and everything

The moon light is
