CHAPTER 28:
"You and I, we're about to make some memories tonight." ~Live While We're Young, One Direction.

NIALL'S POV
To say I was a bit nervous was an understatement. Sure, Louis and I had been alone many times before, playing video games and all. But this time, we were going on a real, actual romantic couple-y date for our one moth anniversary. For which I was nervous as much as I was excited.
I was currently standing in front of my bed, which had a mountain of clothes from my closet resting on it. I was rummaging through what to wear when a voice from behind me made me start in surprise.
"Hot date tonight?" My big brother enquired from the door, a teasing smirk in place.
Wow. If only he knew I was going on a date with Louis, who was now my boyfriend... yeah. I'm gonna put off telling him that as much as I can. I know that telling him sooner will be better, lessen the blow so as to say, but I'm absolutely terrified. Why? 'Cos hat if Greg did something like punch Louis again?
"Uh, yeah." I answered nervously. Greg strolled inside my room and stood beside me. Giving me a what-would-you-do-without-me look, he sifted through the wide variety of clothing and pulled out a decent t-shirt with some jeans. Okay, yeah. That'll work.
"Thanks bro."
"Don't mention it, Ni. So, who's the lucky dude?"
I paled. "Uh... he's you know, somebody I like."
"Uh, huh. I kinda guessed that."
Noticing my reddened cheeks, he started cooing, "Looks like little Nialler is a bit embarrassed. Aww!"
"Shut up Greg! And get out!"
After shooing my annoying brother out of my room, I quickly got dressed, styled my hair and put on a bit of cologne for good measure.
My phone pinged and I grabbed it, to see a that Louis had texted me that he was here.
Okay. Cool. Now to get away from my nosy brother. I slipped out of my bedroom door and looking around, making sure the coast was clear, I made my way downstairs and huffed in relief when I saw the front door in plain sight. Just as I was about to put my hand on the doorknob, "So you're date's here? I wanna meet him!"
I groaned internally. "Uh, I-I don't think that's a great idea."
Greg wasn't having any of it. "Where is he? Isn't he supposed to pick you up at the door?"
God, he had to be so nosy today of all days!
"Well? Don't want me to meet him 'cos you don't want me to embarrass you?"
Sure, let's go with that. "YES!"
Greg chuckled. "Good. Open the door then."
Oh God. This can only go one way. Disaster. But I think the sooner Greg knows that Louis is my boyfriend, the better. Okay, I'm just calming myself down.

I saw Louis' grey Audi parked in the distance, with him leaning against the bonnet, looking unbelievably sexy in a simple white tee, engrossed in his phone. I walked over to him nervously, Greg following closely behind. God, he's worse than our Mum!
"Hey babe!" Louis greeted me cheerily as soon as he saw me, then paused in surprise when he saw Greg behind me.
"Uh..."
"Wait a minute! It's YOU!"
Then Greg turned to me angrily. "You're going out with HIM? Why the hell?"
"Bro, calm down. I knew you'd do this! Listen-"
"Of course I'd do this! This bastard had hurt you! How can you-"
Louis cut him off smoothly. "But I did say sorry for what I did and Niall has forgiven me now."
"Did I talk to you?" Greg spat, taking a step closer to Louis.
I put a hand on his shoulder. "Whoa! He's right. I've forgiven him and the past is the past."
I grabbed him arm and steered him away. "Look, please Greg. Stop acting like a mother, everybody makes mistakes, and so did Louis. It was partly my fault for what had happened between us. But we've put that behind us and now we really like each other. He makes me happy."
Greg's face showed incredulity mixed with a bit of anger. Then he turned thoughful. "Yeah, you do seem more cheerful lately. So, you both are..."
"Yeah," I nodded. "We're together. And you should give Louis a chance because I really like him. Please? For me?"
My brother sighed dramatically. "I guess. But I swear to God, if he hurts you ONE more time..."
I waved a hand. "Yeah, yeah. Now apologize."
Greg sputtered in surprise. "No way in hell am I gonna-"
I gave him the puppy dog eyes. "Please?"
"Oh God. FINE!"
He grudgingly walked over to Louis with me behind him. Louis glanced at him warily as he stuck a hand out. "I'm uh, sorry for judging you, I guess. You make my brother happy, so I guess that's cool."
Louis shook his hand and smiled cutely. "It's no problem."
Before it could turn awkward, I grabbed Louis' arm. "Right then. Shall we leave?"
"Yep. Let's go Blondie," Louis nodded with a secretive smile.
"Bye Greg!" I waved to my brother and got in the car. As soon he was in the house, Louis cupped my face and gave me a firm kiss.
"Why, hello there," I murmured against his lips.
"Hello to you too," he pulled away and winked adorably.
"Happy one month," he grinned.
"Happy one month!" I replied giddily. Wow, one month.
Louis started the car and I asked cheekily, "So, where're we goin'?"

Louis gave me a sideways smirk. "Really Nialler? Are we gonna have that cliche date conversation where one person asks what the date is and of course the other person would never tell them 'cos why would they want to ruin the surprise?"
I pouted and crossed my arms. "Fine. I won't ask."
Louis snickered. "Doubt that."
And sure enough, five minutes later, I enquired, "So where are you taking me exactly?"
~*~
After What seemed like hours of driving when it must have been only 45 minutes, I heard the sounds of waves crashing and a grin formed on my face.
Louis noticed my expression from the corner of his eye and smiled. "So you must have guessed where we are now, eh?"
"The beach!" I nodded excitedly. Wow, beaches are always awesome for first dates.
Louis parked the car and we got out into the chilly October air, which had a brine-y feel to it due to the beach.
I waited for Louis as he took something out of the backseat, then we walked side by side, hands entwined, down the boardwalk to the sandy beach.
Thankfully, it was fairly warm today considering it was October, and it was London. Wait no, Louis said that we were just outside London now, as there weren't any beaches in the city.
"I uh, sorry if it isn't okay," Louis mumbled from beside me.
I turned to look at him confusedly. "Sorry for what Lou?"
"I mean, I'm not very original with coming up with awesome ideas for dates like Liam did for him and Dani, and beaches? C'mon that's so Unoriginal! And so I'm sorry if you're disappointed as this was our one month-"
I stood in front of Louis and kissed him, forcing him to stop babbling, and he blushed when I pulled away.
"Honestly? This already looks like it's gonna be the best date ever. And I don't care even if we were sittin' in a park right now. Just as long as I'm with you," I told him sincerely.
Louis smiled a blinding smile and hooking the arm that wasn't holding the mysterious box around my neck, kissed me softly.
"You really mean that?"
I grinned, bumping his nose with mine. "Yeah."
Louis bit his lip, hiding his smile. "Cool. Now let's get on with this date."
~*~
So, Louis' mysterious box, much to my delight, held a lot of awesome and drool-worthy stuff from none other than Nandos. I hadn't even remembered telling Louis I loved Nandos and it touched me how he remembered even the littlest things.
We munched on some peri peri chicken and many other god gifted foods, chatting, bantering and just enjoying each other's company.
Louis was an idiot for worrying about this date not being perfect. 'Cos, setting aside the fact that this is the only date I've been on, this is possibly the best date that I've ever been on. And maybe that's just 'cos Louis is here with me. Or I guess Nandos was a factor as well?
After we were done with the food, Louis stood up and brushed the sand off his pants. "Let's go for a walk," he smiled, offering me a hand up.
~*~
LOUIS' POV:
"Let's go for a walk," I suggested, helping Niall up. I didn't let go of his hand and we kept strolling near the water. After a while, we took off our shoes, just walking peacefully on the soft sand, water touching our feet, the chilly and salty air blowing past us.
No words were said between us, we just enjoyed the tranquil silence in each other's presence, our warm hands entwined.
"Honestly, best date ever," Niall murmured.
I smiled at the ground. "I can say the same. Best date ever," I squeezed his hand.
A few moments later, "Uh, Lou?"
"Mhmm?"
"You know, the Winter Formal Halloween dance that's coming up... would you, uh..."
We had stopped walking now, and the sun was setting, making the sky turn an awesome shade of orange, yellow, blue and purple.
"Of course, I'd love to go with you," I answered my boyfriend with a smile, gazing at the multi colored sky and the orange setting sun.
"Ain't that pretty," Niall remarked, looking at the natural scene.
"Not as pretty as you," I teased and Niall elbowed me.
"Too cheesy?" I asked sheepishly.
"Nah, I love cheesy stuff. And cliches. They're so romantic."
I snickered and pulled him closer. "God, Ni, you're such a girl."
"Maybe I'm the girl in this relationship, then," he remarked, making me laugh.
"Well, as you just told me moments ago; you love cliches. So as far as I know, kissing in the sunset on a beach is a cliche, isn't it?" I asked cheekily.
Niall placed his shoes down and wrapped both his arms around my neck. Then standing on his tippy toes, he brushed his lips with mine. "Yep, it's definitely a cliche."
"Awesome," I smiled against his lips, then placing my arms around his waist, pulled him closer.
And kissed him in the sunset.
~*~
D'aww! Wasn't that adorable? Right in the #Nouis feels! ^_^
So, most of you suggested a beach date and voila! You got your fluffy romantic beach date. But I tried to fit in some of the other ideas there as well, and I hope you'll find them. ;)
