ZAYN'S POV
"Yo Malik! Awesome party like always!"
"You rock Zayn!"
So ladies and gentlemen, it's safe to say that just like every year, my party was a huge success. Everywhere, teenagers were dancing inappropriately, having the time of their lives I guess.
Even more people had turned out for the party this year, but I wasn't complaining. My house was big enough. Some people were messing around in the pool outside, the rest were on the dance floor, and some were busy doing god-knows-what in the rooms upstairs. Drinks were being passed around and there were ample of pretty lads and ladies for everyone.
Speaking of pretty ladies, I hadn't seen Perrie today. Actually she hasn't been talking to me ever since that day at the cafeteria when I told her I didn't have time to go to the movies with her ans she had stormed off.
After asking around for a while, I spotted her talking to Josh. "Hey Perrie! Where have you been?" She scowled when she saw me then quickly covered it up.
"Uh, Josh, can you excuse us for a sec?"
"Sure!" Josh nodded and patted my back, walking away to the booze table.
I turned back around to Perrie and she slapped me. She fuckin' slapped me!
"What the hell babe!" I sputtered out, pressing my palm on my stinging cheek.
"Don't you babe me you bastard! How could you?! And how are you even talking to me right now?!"
I grabbed her wrists and steered her into a more quiet place— outside in the garden —'cos she was making quite a scene. At my own damn party.
"Now would you kindly inform me what I just did that made you slap me?"
"You cheated on me with Jenny didn't you? You man-slut! I knew it! Your face says it all!" Her eyes were watery by now.
"Who the bloody hell is Jenny?!" I yelled out, annoyed. God she was accusing me of sleeping around! I mean OK, I flirt a little here and there but I never go as low as to sleep with somebody else! I'm not that much of a twat!
"Oh don't act all innocent Zayn! I've been hearing rumors all week! And then, we oh-so-suddenly started drifting apart, hmm? Why?!"
"Okay, I admit. Lately, our relationship has lost some spark but that doesn't mean I'm cheating on you! God, Perrie! I can't believe you'd listen to some stupid rumors before coming to me first!"
"OK. Maybe. But why didn't you call me all week then, huh? Explain that and I want a damn well good reason Malik." Wow. Now she was acting like that over-attached girlfriend.
"Yeah. I didn't call you 'cos I was busy frolicking in Jenny's bed," I mutered sarcasticallly, rolling my eyes. Perrie snapped her head up, mouth hanging open.
"God! Of course not! I wanted to give you space! 'Cos you were pretty mad that day at the cafeteria. Then the next day when I did call back, you were still mad. Dunno why."
"Be-Because you had cancelled our date that day and then the next day as well!"
"I had work to do!"
"And by work you mean a date with Jenny I'm guessing?!"
"Damn Perrie you're unbelievable! I had to study!"
"Somehow I find that extremely hard to believe," she snorted, crossing her arms. Oh, that's rich! And all I've been telling her is the pure truth.

"Alright Zayn. Then I guess this is the end for us. 'Cos: A) A good relationship requires trust and I obviously don't trust you anymore after all the rumors and, B) I think I might like somebody else, and C)'Cos I think you're not interested in me anymore and you like somebody else too, and you haven't realized it yet."
I nodded to what she was saying 'cos she was right, and I had— hold on a damn well second. Like somebody else?
"Like somebody else? I don't like anybody else! Nobody else! No one!"
Perrie just shook her head and smiled. "Well I guess we'll just stay friends then Zayn. I'll admit, I think it'll be better to be your friend than your girlfriend. You know where to find me if you need some relationship advice!" She winked and disappeared back outside and into the crowd.
What in the bloody seven hells did just happen? Did I just get dumped? And didn't do anything about it? And did another one of my relationships just get ruined 'cos of some fucking rumors?
I growled lowly and ran my hands through my hair, frustrated, not caring that I messed up my quiff.
Well I'm at a party! I need to forget about all of it and enjoy my party right now. And enjoy my party I did. I went inside and poured myself some drinks in those red cups and gulped one down. The burning sensation in my throat was welcoming.
You must be thinking that I must be drinking illegally, eh? Well, screw it. Screw you.
I saw Perrie and she was dancing with Josh. They were laughing. Having fun. While I was here all alone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset 'cos Perrie dumped me, I'm just mad 'cos of the reason that caused her to dump me.
Fucking rumors.
I absolutely hate it when people talk about me behind my back. Even more when they make up bullshit and then spread it around. It's sorta like my pet peeve. I knew that this was gonna happen once again, but the rumors are a price to pay for the popularity.
I downed another red cup, but still, no effect.
It sometimes feels like I'm living the life of a celebrity. Those suckers have it pretty bad. And all of my relationships just end like theirs do.
Well I didn't get a chance to ponder on my love life much further 'cos I saw Danielle Peazer and her friends entering the house. And all of her friends, including Harry who-doesn't-mind-his-own-business Styles.
They had arrived really late so Danielle was dragging all the boys inside. The blond kid and Louis were chatting and Curly was sulking behind them, occasionally looking around cautiously.
Good. He should be cautious. Because he was damn well not invited.
I waited 'til they were all dispersed and Curly was alone so I could give him a piece of my mind. And, er, to thank him for the tutoring too, I guess. Or maybe not. If I feel like it. Nah.
He was awkwardly standing near the staircase, looking around. Hey, our clothes matched, sorta. For once, he was not in those horrid geeky glasses of his. He was wearing a simple black and white plaid shirt over some blue jeans and still looked cute and sexy and— Wait, that's just the alcohol talking.
I grasped my drink and approached him from behind. "Would you look who the cat dragged in!" He jumped at my voice and turned around accusingly, hand on his heart. He bit his lip nervously when he saw it was me.

"Er, hi Zayn. Nice party!" He squeaked.
I rolled my eyes. "I think I specifically told you that you were not invited."
"Well I decided to come anyway." He jutted his chin out and crossed his arms, switching on the bravado.
"Couldn't stay away from me, eh?" I smirked.
"N-no! I guess I just missed your house!"
"Whatever." I sipped some more liquid from my cup. Then I guess it started kicking in.
"You look amazing today. Cute, yet sexy at the same time," I slurred and leaned against the banister. Then when I registered what came out of my big fat mouth, I slapped a hand on it.
Harry's mouth was hanging open. "I-I-I do?"
"God no. I was- I was- uh just- uh messing with ya!"
Harry peered at me closely. "Zayn, are you drunk?"
"Pssh! 'Course not! No one can get drunk with only a drink or four! Only light-weights do! Which I'm certainly not! A light-weight I mean! Nuh-uh! Not me! Drunk, I mean. I'm not drunk!"
"Uh-huh." Harry nodded with a disbelieving expression.
"Oh and thank you so much for the help on the test Harry! I got a B! And I'm getting my bike!" I grinned at him. I wanted to hug him. God help me, my brain is getting hazy.
"Oh! That's good. But uh, it was all your hard work," Harry smiled, his dimples showing.
"I NEVER KNEW YOU HAD DIMPLES OH MY!" And I proceeded to poke his dimples.
Harry was totally freaked out by now. Or maybe he was laughing. I can't tell.
"And did you know?! Perrie dumped me today!" Shut the fuck up mouth! Stop talking!
"All of my relationships are an epic fail! What do I do wrong Harry?! The rumors always ruin everything! I wish I wasn't popular! Hell I was-I was never popular. They were the reason I had to become a cold hearted jerk! They were the reason I had to fucking move away from where I was born and raised! They just did one fucking thing and it's still affecting me."
My vision was getting blurry now. God how much did I drink? And I have officially lost control over my mouth. I pointed to what I think was Harry.
Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't fucking say— "And then you came around! Looking all sexy on that first day and not looking like a geeky cupcake anymore! Ever since I moved here I believed I had to make someone miserable. Make you— a nerd— miserable. Just like they did. But I'm finding it really hard to do that now 'cos you're all hot and sassy and why the hell do I think about you so randomly?! What is wrong with me?"
I felt my head spinning and held the banister for support. And then the last thing I remember was the ground coming up to meet me, reaaaaaally fast.

HARRY'S POV
I still can't wrap my mind around what the fudge just happened.
Dani had dragged me to Zayn Malik's party. I did not want to come to this party. 'Cos I was not wanted at this party. But I unwillingly came to this party.
And I was faced with a drunk-off-his-bum Zayn, who just told me many things about himself, many I guess that were his secrets. Many that I wasn't supposed to hear. Many I'm still blushing at.
And he also said some things that make want to do a spit-take and made my heart beat thrice as fast. Like how he said I looked cute and sexy. Two times.
And he thinks about me randomly?
Somebody hold me!
But the more important thing was how he said he needed to make me miserable 'cos of them. That he moved here 'cos of them. Who the fudge cakes was them? I probably wasn't supposed to hear any of that so I'm not gonna work on finding out. But I am curious though.
Tipsy Zayn was so funny and honest. They say that alcohol strips you of all your filters, knocks down all of your walls. So I guess that the real Zayn is a funny guy. And smart. And an artist. That much I know.
I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and looked up from my shoes when I heard a loud thump next to me. Looking around, I saw Zayn sprawled out on the ground.
Oh god! He fainted! Oh no no no no!
I frantically looked around to spot his best friend Liam but he was dancing with Dani. I then looked for Niall or Louis to help me and what the cat whiskers?! They were dancing as well?! Woo! I mentally cheered for Niall. He finally made a move.
I glanced back at Zayn who was out cold on the floor and tried to lift him up. Key word, tried.
Thank the heavens, that Josh came to my rescue then. He helped me carry Zayn upstairs to his room. The same room where I had tutored Zayn a week ago. Apparently his room was off limits to the party-goers.
"What happened to him?" Josh asked, leaning in the doorway, amused.
"Uh, um, he was talking to me. Then he, er fainted. He uh, mentioned that he had a drink or four."
Josh raised his eyebrows. "Wow. Zayn's a real heavy-weight. Must've drank a lot to get knocked out. Don't know why the lad drank so much in the first place. Guess the hype of his party got to him," he shrugged and shooting me a friendly smile, walked out of the room.
I glanced at Zayn who was sleeping on the bed, and who was going to have a massive hangover tomorrow.
I sighed and went outside. Somehow pushing and shoving sweaty and hormonal bodies, I made it to the kitchen. And then eons later, I found a leaf of Panadol in one of the cupboards and sighed in relief. With the meds clutched in my hand, I grabbed an empty glass and shoved my way back upstairs to Zayn's room.
I filled the glass with water from the bathroom and placed it along with the meds on his night stand. And I couldn't help but grin widely when I saw a tattered and bookmarked copy of 'The Fault In Our Stars' peeking from under his pillow.
I fought the urge to kiss Zayn's cheek goodbye and walked back out to the party, shutting the door behind me.
I'm kinda nervous but curious as well to face Zayn on Monday. That is, if he even wants to face me.

Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
