《Ruby X Depressed Male Reader》Epilogue

The bright light of the morning hours shine down and directly hit you in the face. You groan and roll over to avoid the lights of the sun. The more you buried your head into the pillow, the more you knew you were about to wake up. Then you felt the back of your shirt get pulled up and someone began to scratch your back. You smiled to yourself and now realized you were fully awake. You turned back and saw the female figure sit on your back.

(Y/N): Not now. I'm tired.

The figure then leaned forward to reveal it was an older looking Ruby. She wrapped her arms around your head and kissed your cheek.

Ruby: You're always tired. Come on!

(Y/N): Ok, ok. I'm up, I'm up.

Ruby got off of you and pulled you to sit up. She gave you a light smile as you rolled your eyes and smiled back at her. She then rolled away and towards the end of the bed until you grabbed her and pulled her back into a hug. Ruby smiled slightly until you began to tickle her around her stomach. Ruby began to explode from laughter and you just laughed along with her. Ruby used her semblance and hopped up and over and pulled you back down onto the bed.

You both looked at one another and laughed. Ruby got onto your stomach and you both locked eyes and stopped laughing. Ruby leaned down while you leaned up and the two of you locked lips with one another and had a passionate kiss. You wrapped your arms around her and pulled her down towards you and kept the kiss going. However, Ruby was able to break the kiss a bit and moved back to her original position. You attempted to follow her but she stopped you and gave you a faint smile.

Ruby: We got to get moving.

(Y/N): Do we really have to? I don't even think we have anything to do today.

Ruby: Training, we need some milk and eggs, clean the basement and we still have work to do.

(Y/N): (Groans) We're a professional huntsman and huntress. We get paid a lot more than you think. Besides, it's not like we're desperate or anything.

Ruby: Hey! Don't blame me for that stuff. You've been the one working for the past few months anyway.

(Y/N): Why do you think I want to pass out?

Ruby: Well, you were the one who got me pregnant!

(Y/N): Well, you wanted a kid.

Ruby: You didn't.

You two just remain silent and look at one another. She sighs again and hugs you once again and kissed your cheek.

Ruby: Sorry.

(Y/N): Don't apologize. Just nervous that's all. (Sighs) Ok. I'll get breakfast started and we'll-

Ruby: Already made breakfast. And I kinda at all your eggs.

(Y/N): That could explain why we need eggs. Did you finish-

Ruby: I finished the muffins, yes.

(Y/N): And did you-

Ruby: I finished the milk too.

You sighed as Ruby laughed awkwardly to herself. You leaned in and pecked her cheek and gave her a warm smile.

(Y/N): I love you, you know that.

Ruby: Yep.

With that, the two of you took off for your days. You had married Ruby a little bit after you two graduated from Beacon. While you didn't finish with top honors, you still passed and were able to get your license. Ruby's father, Taiyang, also seemed to enjoy you, enough to let you know that he approved of your relationship with Ruby and even let you both get married.

From there, you and Ruby were able to get a house on Patch and lived out from there. The two of you talked about children for a couple a months and you finally gave into Ruby's pleads. Currently, she was six months pregnant and you were both beyond nervous and happy. You began getting parenting advice from Tai and Ruby's uncle, Qrow. So, your confidence was raised a lot.

Sure your depression was still a thing but it was a lot less than what it once was with your teenaged angst out of the way. Despite that, you were fortunate enough to live a pretty good life.

Currently, you were driving from your home in the region of North Patch towards the outskirts of the main city. Apparently, Ruby had told you about a farm couple that moved to the island and began to run a small produce stand along the outskirts. While you were driving, you got a call from your scroll and saw the time of the day. The weekly update with "Dad".

(Y/N): Hey, Professor.

Ozpin: (Y/N)-

(Y/N): I know, I know. How you doing...Pa?

Just before you turned 18, Ozpin gave you adoption papers. You were legally adopted by him and Glynda and couldn't be happier. The two married a month before you and Ruby and the weeks were crazy.

Ozpin: Just trying to keep an...order on things.

(Y/N): Yeah? How's Ma?

Ozpin: She's fine. A little worried about being a grandmother, but she thinks she's ready. Are you excited?

(Y/N): More nervous than anything else. Tai has given me some tips though.

Ozpin: Any in particular?

(Y/N): Doesn't matter to me. Ruby wants twins though. We have no idea if she's carrying twins though. So.

Ozpin: Agreed. Well...I'm proud of you.

(Y/N): Thanks...Pa. Hey, I gotta run. At the market for some stuff. Don't want to leave you like this but-

Ozpin: No, no. I completely understand. Drive safe, get home safe and remember-

(Y/N): Call you the second her water breaks, I know. ...Hey, Pa...I love you.

Ozpin: I love you too, son. Be safe. I'll call you later.

You hung up and smiled to yourself. You loved those talks. The market had been somewhat packed but nothing overly crowded. You could see the elderly couple running the place and them being a relatively nice pair to customers. So, you began your search. You rummaged a bit through the tomatoes and sniffed it and tested their weight.

(Y/N): Not good. Too old.

You grabbed another tomato and checked it out. You gave off a smile as you realized it was heavier than most.

Elderly Man: You looking for the heavier ones?

(Y/N): Yeah, well, they are the better ones.

Elderly Man: And you know that how exactly?

(Y/N): I grew up on a farm. I'd think I know what I'm talking about.

Elderly Man: Aren't denying it, son. Just asking around.

(Y/N): No problem. Got any fresh eggs.

Elderly Man: You got it. (To his wife) Hey, Cream! We need the eggs brought up here.

The woman nodded and walked off out back.

(Y/N): Cream? That was my mother's name.

Elderly Man: Really? Must've been a nice woman when she lived.

(Y/N): Yeah, well, she wasn't. Neither was my father.

Elderly Man: Sorry to hear that, son. What happened to them?

(Y/N): Don't know. Last time I saw them, my father knocked me out with a bucket for not getting enough milk and threw me outside the house. That was nearly 13 years ago. Anything could have happened.

The Elderly Man looks distraught until his wife brings out a couple of stacks of eggs and places them down next to you.

Cream: I'm sorry. Not as young as I once was.

(Y/N): Don't worry about it. You got a stand to run.

You kneeled down and began to scan through the eggs to make sure they were all in great set and were in good conditions. You grabbed the top dozen eggs and placed them in a bag and smiled at the elderly couple.

(Y/N): Would all have any milk as well?

Cream: You betcha. Little Bessy is the finest milking cow we got.

(Y/N): Yeah. Sorry about this. Wife's been six months pregnant and she's been on an eating spree?

Elderly Man: Getting you out of house and home?

(Y/N): Nearly. (Chuckles) She's great. She got me out of my living conditions and into Beacon after all. Still don't know why she did.

You smiled and looked back up and noticed something over the cooler with the milk inside. It was a stuffed cow head. One of a cow you knew all too well.

(Y/N): Is that...Bessy? Wait...how can-

Elderly Man: How do you know Bessy? She's been dead for at least 6 years. Had her stuffed. She was the greatest milking cow we ever had.

You began to think things through. The cow. The produce. The odd coincidence off the wife's name and your mom's. And that's when it finally struck you...they were your parents.

Father: (Y/N)?

You looked over in shock. That is until you grew into a glare. You stopped your mother from running up and what appeared to be a hugging motion.

(Y/N): This is a business right? I don't think familiar bonds should disrupt that.

Father: Right, right.

He took your bags and began to add up the cost.

Father: So, live close by?

(Y/N): Yeah. I place I can call home. A place where I can come home and know I won't be tortured by people who were suppose to love me.

Cream: (Y/N), we're so-

(Y/N): No. Look, I know people can change. And from what I can tell, you two have. But I still don't want you anywhere near my house or family. And I'm not sorry for this.

Your father scanned the last item and placed it within a bag and handed it to you. You payed and walked off and drove back home. Images of your youth cloud your head until you finally get home, more upset than anything else. After walking in the door, you walked out and saw Ruby on your couch.

Ruby: Hey! How was the stand? Nice people am I right?

You got onto the couch and tucked your head over her.

Ruby: What's wrong?

(Y/N): The couple that runs the place...are my parents.

Ruby's eyes widen and she begins to stroke your hair.

Ruby: Then we wont go back-

(Y/N): No. I just think it's going to take some time.

Ruby: So, you're ready to finally confront it?

(Y/N): Yeah.

Ruby: You know if you ever need me-

(Y/N): You'll be there. Like you always are. I love you, Ruby.

Ruby: I love you too, (Y/N). Always.
