Morning came, but long before it did Kelty was up to start a fire in the hearth. She braved the cold and the dark with grandfather's lantern to go out to the woodshed as she did every morning, imagining all sorts of sickly pale things waiting for her in the dim world of night.

You could use a little more light than...

"Shush," Kelty hissed, hoping her grandfather didn't hear.

I'm just saying that a power such as yours is wasted if you don't at least...

"That's quite enough," whispered Kelty. "I'm not going to make the lights here in town and that's that so just let it be."

The Voice remained quiet, and Kelty began the arduous task of chopping wood and kindling.
