Years passed, Peter and Elena had turned 18 and the kingdom had a big celebration for the daughters birthday and ordered a special cake for her. The festival was big and the King declared that everyone would take the day off of work to celebrate and suggested they took the day after off as well. The streets were full of lanterns, flowers, signs, and much more decorations for Elena and later that night the King held a ball for her and the entire kingdom was invited and so were other kingdoms. Princesses, Duchesses, Dukes, and Princes came from all over the land to celebrate her birthday. Jackson did not go to the ball, he just wanted to catch up on sleep he missed from baking his cake but Peter had been saving up to by an elegant suit for the ball. Peter was hoping he was going to be able to see Elena on her special day and be able to wish her Happy Birthday and talk about the years they haven't seen each other. He put his suit and baby blue bow tie on, his mother fixed his tie for him, and he was off to the ball.

Lots of the kingdoms young gentlemen and ladies were there as well. He saw the blacksmith's daughter and the butcher's son, and so much more friends from the kingdom. There were also many people who he had never met there as well, people of higher class. He looked all around the room for Elena until the announcer loudly pronounced her name on the center stairs. The chattering quickly died down and every looked up to see the princess. There on the large staircase was Elena wearing the most beautiful dress he had ever seen. It was a deep garnet red color, sleeve dress and at the bottom, in the same color, it looked like butterflies were magically on her dress. With her dark hair pulled up, she truly looked magnificent and for the first time Peter felt something stronger than friendship, something he had nothing felt before and had no idea what this feeling was. She ascended down the staircase like an angel. A young gentleman took her hand and they started to dance to the first song of the night. The stringed band played a beautiful piece as the dance and spun on the floor. You could see Elena's shoes every once in a while sparkle as she dance across the floor. After the song ended, the gentleman bowed and walked her over to great the guest. Peter tried to make his way to her, and so did everyone else. The crowds were too much for him so he stepped out side onto the balcony that over looked the gardens. Peter was being to feel regret on buying the suit and coming if he was not able to at least say happy birthday to her. The crowds were getting louder in the hall, as Peter walked back in to see them pulling her cake that he and his father baked. The look on Elena's face was priceless and was so blessed for if. She kissed her father's check in thanksgiving.

Peter decided it was getting late so he decided to leave. He was very sad that he did it fully the wish he desired to carry out but it wasn't the end of the night just quite yet.

Peter had taken the wrong turn in, since the caste so like a maze, and became lost.

"Excuse me, you are not supposed to be her" he heard a lady say behind him. Peter slowly turned around to see that garnet red dress again, it was Elena.

Without even thinking her facing grew with a great smile and see leaped forward and gave him the greatest hug anyone had ever seen. She could not believe what she was seeing. After all these years, she thought he had forgetter about her but yet he was here.

He was so tall and more handsome then she remembered. After they were finally done with their "hellos" and "I can't believe this" they started to walked and talk just like in the older days. Peter talked about his days as a baker and would things are excelling at the bakery. Elena talked about her life at the castle and her studied. Before they knew it, the party had been long over and it was nearly morning. Both of there parents would be furious for them not to be back at this point. They wished this wouldn't happen but they said their goodbyes but Elena added some more. She explained to Peter how her father wants to send her off to a far away country to discuss foreign affairs with other rulers and further her studies. She would never see Peter again, this was truly a goodbye. She kissed him on his cheek and they departed their ways.
