《THE RUNNING》18

I didn't sleep anymore that night, only tossing and turning until the sun rose above the horizon. It was bittersweet, really, because for such an amazing scene, it was spoiled by the situation at hand. Sighing, I threw the covers off my body, shivering as the chilly air nipped my skin. Still in my Superman shirt and Plaid pants, I got up and stretched my arms and legs, popping my back, neck, and fingers. Walking to our closet, I noticed a small note pinned to the door of it. Pulling it free from the tape holding it, it read:
Ellie,
I brought some clothes for you since all of yours were still in the guest room and I knew you'd be taking a shower this morning. Do that and change, then go to Tiberius. I'll tell the guards outside his door to take a break for a while, and I'll bring you some food later. Doctors say he just needs rest now, so don't worry too much.
Love you girl,
Haley
Smiling to myself, I opened the door and pulled out a few clothes of mine Haley had brought over while I slept.
Closing the bathroom door behind me, I laid the clothes on the counter and turned on the shower, doing my business before undressing. Glancing at the mirror before the water drenched me, I noticed dark bags under my red rimmed eyes. How beautiful.
Scrubbing the Green Apple and Vanilla body wash on my skin from the loufa, I imagined the netting scraping the bad things away, like Ti's serious injuries and whoever had caused it. Who had caused it? Shaking my head, I turned the water on cold to liven myself up a little more, then stepped out of the slick tub.
Changing into my cozy and comfortable outfit, I fishtail braided my hair and brushed my teeth, sweeping mascara over my eyelashes and powder on my skin. Walking out of my room and glancing at the clock, I saw it was 6:56. Why hadn't anyone bothered to try and wake me up yet?

'They know you need your sleep, Ellie. Being away from your mate, especially when they're injured, is extremely exhausting. In some cases the uninjured mate will be tired all the time, others they will be restless,' Nikita explained. Well that explains why I couldn't sleep anymore last night.
'Oh, thank you Kita,' I kindly replied, using a nickname I called her when I was a child.
She laughed lightly. 'You don't have to thank me, silly girl. I'm here for you, and everything will be alright. Trust me.'
When I reached the bottom step of the staircase, I turned right towards the room where Tiberius was being kept instead of left towards the Dining Room. I knew people were in there eating, since I heard light voices and silverware clanking against plates. With my footsteps echoing off the eerily quiet hallway walls, I stopped when my hand reached for the white door. Inhaling deeply, I gripped the handle and turned..
I stood infront of a light beige painted room, white curtains drifting with the vent, matching the large white bed where Tiberius lay with his eyes closed. He was resting on his side, not putting any weight on his lacerated back. Thick covers were pulled up to his waist, and a full glass of water sat on the bedside table.
Making my way towards his sleeping body, I stopped on the edge of the bed closest to him, gazing down at his face. His nose twitched, then he scrunched up his eyebrows before relaxing again. Smiling to myself, I sat down in the floor criss-cross, being eye level with him. Gently pressing my pointer finger to the tip of his nose, he snorted, startling me. Shaking his head, he then nestled deeper into the pillows.
Smirking in amusement, I pushed the hair back from his face, my thumb run across his cheekbone. Leaning in, I pressed my lips to his forehead, letting them linger for a few moments, before pulling back.

A low groan escaped his lips. Surprised, I looked up to see his eyes slowly opening, clearing from a hazy green to vibrant gold mix in seconds. Seeing me, a grin spread across his face. "Ellie!" he exclaimed, starting to take the covers off of his body. Seeing this, I quickly stood and stopped him from doing so. "Don't take the covers off, you need rest and to stay warm!" I insisted, smiling as I pulled the covers back up.
Taking his hand from under the blankets, he grabbed mine, pulling me down to him- to his lips. Kissing him gently, he lifted the covers again, this time pulling me into him.
Settling infront of him under the covers, I snuggled into his chest. "Ti, who did this to you? What happened?"
He sighed, toying with my hair easily. "It's an old enemy of mine, love. You've never heard of him, and there's a good reason for that. He and some of his guards ambushed us. He played dirty; his claws were dipped in silver."
I gasped. A wound so serious with silver involved? That's a signed death certificate! "But, how-how are you here then? How did you survive something like that?" I looked up into his eyes, which were staring down at mine seriously.
"I don't know. I really don't. All I remember is seeing you in a white dress play over and over in my mind. I think I can safely say that you saved me, Ellie, and that I am eternally in debt," he ended smiling and bowing his head.
Giggling and pushing him slightly, I settled back down. "I had a dream about you a few days ago. We were outside in the summer, and you told me you promised you'd come back, and here you are," I whispered. Gazing down at me lovingly, he smiled.
"And I'm never gonna leave."

Mobius
Far in the future, humans have thoroughly colonized space through the use of floating colonies and artificially replicating the Earth whenever possible. Most of these endeavors have gone well, with humanity spreading across the universe like the seeds of plants floating in the wind. Yet still there lurks the great mistake, the endless station of Mobius, a megastructure which hasn't ceased its building in over a century. Dante, a man living in this megastructure, is tasked with the recording of stories told by criminals, particularly those who travel between strata. One day, a prisoner is captured claiming to be Captain Pluto, an infamous criminal thought to be fictitious by most scholars. Even more curious, he claims to hail all the way from Stratum 56, a location so far away from Dante's Stratum 999 that it would take lifetimes to traverse such a distance. Dante must discern whether or not the story is false or true, and the longer he lets Captain Pluto speak, the more difficult his task becomes. *****Average chapter length will be 10k words give or take. This isn't a very serious story for me. I'm writing this to blow off steam. Updates will happen infrequently because of this, and it will most likely be unpolished unless I begin to take it more seriously.
