Things are going according to plan. Henry is going on a date with Mom. Rylee is watching with Gem and me. She said, "Gem will know." Despite my plan is working, I feel bad Gem isn't in on the action.

Meanwhile, I sat by a window. I wait for Mom and Henry to return. Rylee was making dinner. As her warning repeats in my head, Gem came in. "You had fizzed."

"Excuse me?"

"I know you did."

"How?"

"Last week, when you returned from Henry's, I saw that fizzy look on your face."

I was captured. When I was at Henry's house, he called Mom. He asked her, and I heard her saying, "Sure. Sounds like fun." I was so excited I have to smile.

"So, spit it out, Jem. What did you do?"

"I...uh...sort of... set up Mom with Henry."

"You WHAT?!?"

"I have to."

"Why would you do that? Imagine what Dad will say."

"He doesn't even know."

"What do you mean he doesn't know?" I'm sorry, Mom.

"Dad is not coming home!"
