(Y/N)'s cheeks felt as if they were on fire as she approached the man laying on the bed. His eyes and forehead were covered by a damp cloth as his black curly hair was spread across the satin pillow. His dark skin shimmered in the light that was coming from the tent's cracks. "Hello General, what is the problem?" (Y/N) asked with a shaky voice.

"My leg was shot it battle." The General groaned, as he removed the cloth from his head. His eyes grew wide at the sight of the beautiful woman standing before him.

"I'll fix that right away." (Y/N) spoke as she walked towards the General. As she moved, she felt as if she wasn't in control of her body. Her hands moved with ease as they rolled up the pant leg revealing the wound. She pulled out a needle and thread from her pocket and got to work, not even understanding what she was doing. It just seemed right.

Awkward silence filled the air as (Y/N) stitched up the wound, hearing little groans of pain from the General every few moments. "What's your name mademoiselle?" The General remarked as he propped himself up on his shoulders. "(Y/N)." The woman answered, still focused intently on her job. Silence surrounded the two again as the General applied a face of sorrow, as if he was expecting something from the young woman in return.

"Aren't you going to ask for my name?" The General asked slyly as he flashed her a smile. (Y/N) looked up from her work for only a moment to see his face, and let out a chuckle at his foolish behavior. "I don't believe it's my position to ask that." She answered as she looked back down at his wounded leg. "Baise ça! My name is Marquis de Lafayette. But please call me Lafayette." He said as he leaned to take (Y/N)'s free hand. He grabbed it gently and kissed it with ease. The kiss sent chills down her spine, but she pushed the feeling away quickly and pulled back her hand from Lafayette's grasp.

"Quite a charmer, aren't we?" (Y/N) answered back quickly with a smile as she finished the last stitch on the wound. "Well, what should I say? I got to pay back the woman who saved my leg!" He exasperated with a laugh. (Y/N) couldn't help but to giggle along with him.

"Well, I'm done. You should be able to stand up freely." She said as she backed up out of the way for Lafayette to try and stand. He sat up and swung his legs beside the cot, and slowly stood up. He straightened his body and placed his hands on his hips to exaggerate the look he was aiming for. "I feel great!" He stated loudly as he started to jump up and down like a child. "Calm down! You mustn't tire out your leg. You need rest." (Y/N) said as she placed her hands on his shoulders to hold him down.

She looked up into his eyes, only for a split second. But she was able to catch his deep brown eyes that resembled a sea of passion and warmth. "I owe you one mademoiselle." Lafayette whispered gently with a smile when he noticed that she still had her hands on his shoulders. "How about you meet me at the hill on Tuesday night? I want to show you something." (Y/N) removed her hands rapidly and placed them at her sides. "I would lov-like that General Lafayette." She answered with a smile.

Lafayette then turned on his heel and walked out of the tent with a smile on his face. "Au revoir (Y/N)!" He called as the flaps of the tent fluttered behind him.

Just as (Y/N) was about to move, she became surrounded by darkness as it seemed to close in on her. She screamed for help, but just like last time, no one heard. Everything went black as the young woman tried to shield herself from the closeting walls.

She looked down at herself and realized she was no longer in a dress. Instead she was in the same clothes as before; a sweatshirt and jeans. She wandered around the dark room to try and find at least something, but was unsuccessful.

"What the hell is going on?" She muttered to herself as she pulled on her hair lightly due to the stress she's been encountering. Just as she was about to tear up from the fear, a flicker of light appeared from behind her. As she turned around, she could she a location and date sprawled in the air. They were in sharp italic letters, similar to the type on the cover of the book, but instead they were white. It read: July 1st, 1778, Tuesday.

(Y/N) gasped at the sight as the letters began to creep up closer to her. They became so close that the condensation from her rapid breaths appeared on it. Just as she was about to run off in the opposite direction, the letters surrounded her and turned everything black once more.

There (Y/N) was. She was standing in a clearing of a valley, and behind her was a hill that had one large tree on top of it that was barley visible. It was dark, and the only thing illuminating her view was the bright moon in the sky. Her body became uncontrollable as she walked up the hill. It seemed as if she was a character in a game being controlled by someone else behind a TV screen.

As she was getting closer to the top, she could she a man leaning against the tree. When she got closer, she could see it was Lafayette, fiddling with something in his hands.

(Y/N) coughed to get his attention, and when her turned around to see her, his eyes lit up. "(Y/N)!" He said in a thick french accent that made her swoon. (Y/N)'s cheeks lit up as she watched Lafayette walk towards her. He grabbed her hand, and kissed it gently. "Bonne après-midi, mademoiselle." He whispered quietly as his black hair shimmered in the moonlight.

"H-hi." The young woman stammered, trying to find the right words to say. "What did you want to show me?"

"Look up." He mumbled while pointing up at the sky. (Y/N) looked up and her mouth gaped open at the sight. There were so many stars. Purple streaks outlined the sky as frequent comets soared across it. "I have something for you too." Lafayette said while opening his palm.

There was a small object wrapped it paper laying on his hand. "What is this?" She asked confusedly as she took it and inspected it carefully. "Peel back the paper." He said as (Y/N) did as she was told. There laying in the middle of the paper sat a small piece of brown candy. "It's chocolate. I got it from Spain. Try it." Lafayette remarked happily as she plopped the small candy in her mouth.

It was the best thing she ever tasted. Her tastebuds danced as the candy melted in her mouth, revealing a sugary coating to her lips. (Y/N) must have been enjoying it so much that she didn't notice how much was spread on her lips and chin. "Did I get any of it on me?" She asked as she tried to wipe it away, but made it worse.

"Let me help you with that." He said as he took his thumb and wiped some of the chocolate off of her lips, but instead of removing his thumb, it stood right there. It was as if he was in a trance, watching the young woman laugh at her clumsiness. When (Y/N) realized that Lafayette still had his thump implemented on her lips, she looked up to meet his eyes that shimmered in the moonlight.

There was no pause as Lafayette leaned down closer to her face. (Y/N) exhales shakily as he kissed her, softly and sweetly, over and over again. Lafayette tasted of bread and wine, but the chocolate on her lips gave a unique flavor into the mix. He pulled back after a moment, still holding her in place, but she was not ready for the moment to end. "I'm sorry, I shou-" Instictively, her hand moved to his head, fingers running through his hair, as she force him right back onto her, interrupting him in the process. Lafayette chuckles against her lips, not fighting it, and kissed her deeper. Soft and sweet turns firm and frenzied, the once feather light kisses now brutalizing her lips. She was not sure which one she'd prefer. One way made her heart flutter; the other sets her chest aflame. Lafayette pulled her closer to his chest, as the warmth of him traveled over into her, making the soft breeze nonexistent.

(Y/N) broke apart after a minute, and looked into Lafayette's eyes that were filled with passion and desire. Just as she was about to say something, everything went black in an instant.

(Y/N) gasped awake to find herself on a bench, surrounded and covered by snow. She scanned the area and it still held no people like last time. She looked to the left of her and saw the book, next to her on the bench.

She could of screamed and ran away. She could of ripped the book in half. She could of returned the book to the library. She could of done anything. But instead, she sat there motionless, staring at the book with complete awe.

She opened her mouth to say something, but was held back by the thoughts overflowing her mind. In the end, she only said one word:

"Wow."
