《Collateral Damage》11

Audrey looked at herself in the mirror critically. Alexander was behind her, his arms crossed, his phone and laptop out as always, as he multitasked between ignoring her and working. Her hand smoothed down her soft belly, flexing it, and dropping her shirt with a sigh. Her eyes sought his in the mirror, but he paid her no mind, engulfed in his work. She sighed.

"Did you take me out to work?" She asked.

He looked up from his laptop, opening his hands helplessly, as his phone rang, he answered, tapping his Bluetooth headphones.

She sighed, turning her attention back to herself in the mirror, the image, twisting and distorting.

"Speak," He ordered, typing furiously.

Audrey sighed. There was only one way to get his attention. She turned around, shutting the dressing room door, and locking it, getting on her knees.

"No, when I said settle, I didn't mean for 60 percent. Would you settle for 60 percent of your salary? Hm? Yeah, I fucking thought so," He cursed, his second phone ringing.

Audrey silently unbuckled his pants. He glanced down at her in question, raising his brow. She didn't heed his inquiry, watching feet pass under the door, as she pulled him out of his pants.

"What do you mean you can't go any higher?" He frowned, "They just signed a multimillion-dollar deal, and you're telling me..." he trailed, watching her take him in her mouth.

Now he was paying attention. Of course, now he was paying attention. Her eyes weren't on his though. She wondered about the other girls in the boutique who walked back and forth in front of the door. She wondered if they had to do this. She wondered if they lived their lives with love and money, and everything they could want without getting on their knees for it. She wondered if, they could see her like she could see them. If they wondered about her life like she wondered about theirs.

Alexander hung up the phone, watching her. He'd meant this trip to be something to cheer her up, lift hr from that rut she was in.

He grunted, spilling inside her mouth. Audrey wiped her mouth, sitting in the corner, drawing her knees to her chest with a sigh.

"I think I just wanna go home, Steel." She muttered.

Alexander frowned. "You didn't even get anything."

Audrey stood. "Yeah, it's fine. Let's just go."

His phone rang once more, both of them going off at once. He looked at the caller ID. His eyes were drawn to it. By the time he looked up, she'd slunk away, leaving the dressing room, and walking toward the car. Alexander sighed, following after her hastily.

"I got caught in work and," Suddenly he stopped. Why was he apologizing? He didn't owe her anything. She was just someone he felt sorry for. A woman he occasionally fucked. Why was he so frantically trying to explain himself? He scoffed. "Look, Audrey...I'm not sure what's going on."

Audrey leaned on the window.

He continued, starting the drive back to her dorm. "But it's not really my job to make you feel better. I'm not your boyfriend, and I'm not your daddy."

Audrey said nothing.

He frowned deeply. "Say something!" He demanded.

Audrey said nothing.

He heaved a sigh. "Then...you've got feeling,s don't you? You're disappointed I'm not returning them?"

Audrey stared at him, huddled against the door. "Yeah. So what? You gonna give up young pussy you can have whenever you want?"

He stared at her. The red light cast a shadow on her face. A twisted facsimile of a smile quirked at the corners of her full lips.

"Don't worry. I'm not so far gone as to think you're a person, Alexander. You're just somebody to someone who has nobody. And I know you don't mind taking advantage of that."

Cars honked behind him, but he didn't move. His fingers tightened on the steering wheel, knuckles turning white. Audrey nodded at the light.

"It's green."

He scoffed. "You asked for this remember? And I told you no. I told you what would happen. Now what? I'm the piece of shit for being right?"

Audrey nodded. "You were right. You're always right."

Alexander narrowed his eyes, glaring at her, as cars sped around him, honking angrily. "Oh no. Fuck that. Fuck that little cop out. I told you it was a bad idea."

"What do you want, Remington a fucking medal?" She asked.

"I want you to stop looking at me like a wounded fucking puppy. Like it's my fault. It's not my fault."

She lifted her hands in defeat. "Okay. I was wrong you were right. Can we go now?"

"Oh fuck you," He scoffed. "You know what you're doing. The lovesick schoolgirl act."

Audrey rolled her eyes. "Love? Someone's cocky."

He rose his brows. "Oh? You don't feel anything for me? You'll just suck anyone's dick for attention?" He asked pointedly.

Audrey stared at him. "Fuck you. Fucking drive you asshole."

He grinned. "I'm the asshole? What do you want from me, Audrey? You want me to hold you, kiss you, and stay the night when I fuck you? Huh? Is that gonna stop your pouting?"

Audrey felt stubborn tears beginning to well up. She looked away. "I literally told you, you won. Why the fuck are you still talking to me? Stop fucking talking to me."

Alexander, leaned over, grabbing her face, and smashing his lips against hers roughly. "There. Better?"

She pushed him, opened the car door, and started walking. He rolled beside her slowly, both ignoring the traffic.

"C'mon baby. What's the problem?" He called.

"You're an emotionally stunted manchild," She informed him dully. "And I'm sick of you."

He shrugged. "Then why don't you find someone else to soothe your daddy issues?"

"Maybe I will," She hummed. "This time, I think I'll try someone who's capable of human emotion. Any recommendations?"

"I recommend you get in the fucking car, Audrey." He seethed.

"You're talking about my Daddy issues," She scoffed with a sneer. "But you're your father aren't you? You come to see me, fuck me, and then give me money. Just like your daddy. It's all you have, just like him. A hull inside."

Alexander stepped on the breaks, the tires squealing. He bit his lip, scoffing. He licked his teeth, his phone ringing, something like rage building up inside him.

He rolled up next to her. "Get in the car. You can't walk that far to your dorm, you're gonna give yourself a heart attack."

She shivered and sighed. "And? You wanna hear a joke, Steel?"

"No," he replied irritably. "I don't wanna hear a fucking joke, Audrey. Get in."

"A guy and a girl walk into a bar," She stared anyway. "The guy says to the girl, he says, lemme buy you a drink."

"Audrey get in the car."

"The girl says sure, but I'm not going home with you," She continued stubbornly, "And the guy says to her, that's good because I don't have one."

"Audrey--"

"And the girl says, well how are you paying for my drink if you're homeless,"

He sighed.

"And he says, I have an address. I just don't have a heart."

Alexander pulled over, getting out of the car.

"Get it? Because home is where the heart is, but he doesn't have a heart so he doesn't have a home?"

Alexander snorted derisively from his nose, grabbing her hand. "That was terrible. It wasn't funny at all."

Her lips turned up. "No...it wasn't was it?"

Alexander looked at her, finding her nose red.

"Let's get you home, Audrey."

He turned up the heat, finally driving her home.
