《The Recycled Alpha (Book 1) ✔》Chapter 3

Unknown's P.O.V
I stepped into the room, softly closing the door behind me.
I stared at the former Queen and Alpha Female.
It had been a month since she was brought here. We had a witch break any and all ties with her old pack.
She was breathtaking but she wasn't mine.
A small part of me was upset at the fact the she wasn't mine, but then a larger part was overjoyed at the fact.
She was laying on a bed, tubes going down her throat and up her nose and wires going into her arms.
The pack doctor turned rogue had patched her up and hooked her up to an IV, getting fluids and nutrients into her body.
I sat down in the chair at the side of the bed, staring at her.
She was perfect. She could help us.
As I relaxed into the uncomfortable chair, I felt drowsiness seep into my bones.
My eyes closed without my consent.
Soon enough I was in dreamland.
...
When I woke up, mismatched eyes were staring at me blankly.
The tubes and wires were gone, thrown to the side.
"You talk in your sleep.", was what the female greeted me with.
What the hell did that have to do with anything?
I cleared my throat and sat up. "What's your name?", I asked.
"Ryan. Ryan Halifax.", she answered, clearing her throat slightly.
"Why did your pack betray you? Your father?", I questioned.
I was met with a glare and bared teeth. I scooted back a little.
"That is none of your business. What did you bring me here for?", she snarled.
Shit was Ryan scary.
"I was kicked out of my pack wrongfully. Everybody here was. Either we didn't do what the pack liked to do or we just didn't fit in with everyone else.

The Alphas of our old packs found us to be the weakest links. They banned us from the packs.
I was the first of our group to be banned. I roamed around for a while, picking up others on the way.", I explained.
Ryan glared at me. "What does that have to do with me?", she growled, annoyed.
"Well, we want a place to stay. You need a pack to run and I'm quite sure you want revenge on your old pack. I thought we could maybe join forces and become an official pack.", I said.
I knew I was treading on thin ice. I could feel the tension in the air rising once I mentioned her old pack.
Ryan glared off into the distance. I took that as a sign to go on.
"I've already met with the Council once. They said all we need is someone of Alpha blood and who is able to control us rogues.
I figured, why not the former Queen?"
Ryan closed her eyes and sighed.
"Give me time.", she whispered.
I gave a firm nod, walking out to the awaiting wolves.
Once they all got a glimpse of Ryan, they wanted her to be their Alpha.
The rogues looked at me expectantly, their eyes shimmering with excitement.
I gave a small shake of my head.
"She said she needed some time. I don't blame her. I hope you guys understand.", I said.
The rogues nodded and walked out.
An older female walked up and I smiled at her.
Gloria was an older wolf who was kicked out of her pack just because she was getting older.
"Nobody blames her. We just hope that she says yes. We've been waiting for this moment for years.
13 years of roaming the lands gets a little tiring. We need her to help us. But if she doesn't, that's okay. She has her own things to deal with and sometimes, she won't be able to carry everything on her shoulders.

Just don't make her feel like it's an obligation. It's her choice. Okay mi cielo?", Gloria said while smiling warmly and touching my cheek.
I nodded in understanding.
Gloria was always right.
Shuffling behind us made Gloria and I turn around.
To my surprise, Ryan was standing there.
"I'll do it.", she whispered.
"Thank you Ryan. I understand that's you're doing it for you, but thank you.", I said.
Ryan shook her head vehemently. "It's not just for me. You guys need a home and a family. Someone and somewhere to call their own.
So do I. I already feel an attachment to some of you guys.", Ryan said.
She stopped as the pack of roughly 150 trudged back into the huge living room we were all standing in.
They looked at Ryan and she turned to them, clearing her throat.
"I want to be your Alpha. As long as you guys will be my family.", she said strongly.
An older male limped over to her, pulling her into his arms. Ryan stiffened at the touch before she slowly relaxed into it.
Once she hugged him back, the rest of the rogues moved in, surrounding her and holding one another.
Once they all pulled away, I noticed tears in her eyes.
"What's your name?", Ryan asked, looking at me.
"Dominic. Dominic Hale.", I replied.
"It's nice to meet you Beta Dominic Hale."

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. The gamelit and xianxia elements are uncovered at a slow pace. ******************************** Notes: If you are looking for lots of fast moving action right away, this story may not be for you. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice. (And if you actually read all of the above, then this story may be for you) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Arcane Engines: Alchemist’s Scheme
A seemingly chance encounter with an ancient machine and an assassination attempt threaten to disrupt Veil’s education at the premier mage academy of Ithalaan. The bombings and terrorist actions that follow throw the entire region into chaos and draw him inexorably deeper into a mystery involving cults, gods, and ancient mysterious races. These events threaten Veil’s carefully crafted plans, but there are few limits on his ambition. He is willing to do whatever it takes to advance his schemes to become a Magus, including pursuing the illegal discipline of soul magic. While Veil isn’t a powerful mage yet, his spell wrought guns and illicit abilities will help even the playing field. The need to face down his enemies and fulfill his ambitions will send him desperately searching from Forerunner ruins in the Great Northern Forest to ancient abyssal cities within the depths of the planet. _________________________________________________________________ The book is primarily fantasy with a steampunk background. Science fiction elements won't be introduced for quite some time. I currently update my work at a rate of one chapter per week. I'm also in the process of editing chapters 1 - 7, changing the format to make it more readable, and introducing more show and less tell. The reworked chapters will have (edited) after the title. All chapters after 8 have already been written in the new style. I have a Patreon page if you wish to donate. Also, there will be intense situations, some explicit violence, and although it is not an erotic work, one or two sex scenes.
