Catalaiya's pov:

Both Alicia and I stood by the window, looking down nervously. Adam and Aziel kept looking around alarmed. Alicia sat on the edge and held on the side, hesitating to jump.

Adam walked forward, "Come on, you can do it."

"I- I don't-"

"Look at me," he says, "Now jump, I'll catch you."

I heard her sigh before she pushed herself off the edge. I looked down and Adam had caught her in his arm. She was holding on to his shoulder, as he had his arm wrapped around her hips. He lowered her onto the ground.

Now my turn.

I sat on the edge, swinging my leg on the edge. Aziel walked forward and gave me an encouraging nod. I took a deep breath before jumping. He caught me by my hips before letting me stand on the grass.

"Hand up!"

I froze when I heard another voice. We turned around and two guys were pointing their guns at us. Without hesitating, both brothers went to them. They kick their guns out before punching the guys. Aziel elbowed the guy in the face before punching him and knocking him off. Adam used the back of his gun to knock the other guy.

Aziel came to me, wrapped his hand around mine before dragging us to the parking lot. Adam did the same with Alicia.

"I'll call Carter and we'll look after them," Aziel told Adam and he nodded. We parted our ways since his car was on the other side of the parking lot.

Aziel unlocked the door of the car and we both climbed in. He called Carter, talked to him briefly and then hung up. He speed toward the exit, which when we pass through the gates, we found the security guys unconscious on the ground.

"I'll drop you home," Aziel told me.

"You'll go back to fight them?" I asked cautiously.

"Yes, but we'll more likely attack their main hideout." He replied.

"You know where their hideouts are?" I asked and he shook his head no.

"Not yet, Carter is working on it." He replied.

The ride home was quiet. When we reached, Aziel parked the car and we stepped out. It was already late and the house was quiet and a little darker. I guess Thalia did come back to check the house. He walked in first, with me following him and he turned on the lights.

He suddenly turned toward me and looked at my thigh, "Let me clean that,"

I glanced down and saw the white cloth soaking with my blood, "It's okay, i-i'll do it."

"I need to see it. If it's too deep, I'll call a family doctor." He explained.

Before I could refuse again, he was making his way upstairs. I sighed and followed him. He turned toward my room and opened the door.

"Go in the bathroom," he told me.

I walked into the bathroom.

He looked around before walking to the drawers and taking out a towel.

"Sit on the counter." He told me.

I did.

He moved closer to me and undo the cloth. He open the tap, wet the towel before cleaning the blood around my wound. Once the area was clean, he examined it.

"It's not deep," he says.

He opened another cabinet before pulling out the first aid kit, which I didn't know was there and came to me again.

"How did you know Mason wasn't alone?" I suddenly asked. I had this question stuck in my head since we were in the hall but then it wasn't the right time to ask him.

He looked up at me, "Cause I have been keeping an eye on him."

I furrowed my eyebrows, "why?"

What he told me next had me freeze in place. He told me everything from the very start, the contract Leo made him commit to, the properties that Mason was trying to get by trying to kill me after our wedding, him keeping an eye on Mason only to find out that he ask a gang to help him gain what he wants...

I let everything soak in my mind as he bandage my wound.

Leo forced Aziel to marry me so that Mason doesn't kill me...

I didn't even know what to feel about this. On one hand, Leo was trying to protect me from Mason but on the other hand, Aziel got stuck in this because of me.

Now I get why he was so cold toward me at the beginning and why he suddenly changed.

"You got stuck in this because of me."

I don't know if it was the right time to tell her all this or not, but I did. I bandage her wound while glancing at her occasionally. She kept looking blankly at the bathtub, probably thinking about everything I just said.

"You got stuck in this because of me."

I looked at her.

"I'm sorry," she apologised.

"Don't," I says as she looked at me.

"Don't apologise. Both of us got stuck in this but it's been like three months now and we're doing good. We're doing better than I ever imagined it." I admitted.

Honestly looking upon Adam and Alicia who were married for 2 years and still can't tolerate each other, I thought that we would be the same... but I was wrong. Again.

"So you think we can work things out?" She asked cautiously.

"Yes... I mean if you want to." I replied cautiously waiting for her reaction.

"Do you want to?" She asked me.

"I'm willing to try," I responded.

She thought about it before nodding, "Okay."

"Wait does that mean that the guys came to kill me?" She asked wide-eyed.

"No, they came for both of us. Mason wants you while the other gang envy me and wants me dead." I replied.

She stared at me as if I was crazy.

"I'll handle everything. Don't worry."

I grabbed the first aid kit and put it back in the cabinet.

"I need to go now," I told her and she nodded.

We were home.

I looked at my phone, waiting to get some information from Carter.

"You're going back?" I heard a soft voice say behind me. I turned around and I saw Alicia looking at me.

"Yes, I don't know at what time I'll be back."

"Do you have to go?" she asked making me frown.

I know she was a little scared after the open shot at the hall but she knows she's safe at home. Why doesn't she want me to go?

"Yes, you'll be safe here." I reminded her.

She frowned, "I know that I'll be safe here but will you be safe there?"

I was taken aback."You are concerned about me?"

She glared at me, "You know what... no I'm not. Go there. I don't care if you die or come home safe!"

She turned around facing the bed.

Now, why do I feel that's a lie...

I walked closer to her and grab her arm, turning her toward me.

"Alic-"

I stopped when my eyes landed on the tears on her cheeks.

She was really worried.

I reached to wipe them with my thumb, "I'll come home safe."

"If you say so," she mumbled.

I sighed.

I pulled her onto me, wrapping my arm around her. She hugged me tightly.

"Please come home safe," she murmured.

Now that's another Alicia that I'm not used to.
