The next morning I woke up, I rubbed my eyes and groaned sitting up yawning. I looked at my dress that was hung on my dress, my eyes widen realizing what today is. "Josie wake up." I said shaking her lightly, her eyes slowly opened and she groaned "It's to early for this." she mumbled sleepily. "It's Eight A.M. And today Is prom!" I said, after I woke she says up quickly. "I need to go help Lizzie." She rushed getting up, "Don't you need to get ready?" I asked her furrowing my eyebrows slightly confused.
"I promised I would help her, like always. She needs to win or she will be crushed." She answered, I nodded rising from my bed, "Bye Jo." I said with a soft smile, "Bye Tavia." She smiled back grabbing her dress and walked out of my room shutting my door. I exhaled looking at my dress hanging.
[This is what I imagined it looking like but you can think of whatever]
I walked over to my desk and sat down on a chair, I looked at myself in the small mirror on the corner of my desk. I pulled out a small makeup bag from my desk drawer and unzipped it sprawling the makeup onto to table. "Let's hope I don't make myself look like a raccoon from 2009." and whispered to myself picking up a small concealer stick and putting the product in lines under my eyes.
I've never really done my makeup, I just sorta always watched my mom do it. I blended it out with my ring finger and grabbed a small eyeshadow pallet. I grabbed a fluffy eyeshadow brush and dipped it into a light brown putting it onto my eyelid crease blending it out. Before dipping my brush back into a copper rose shade and blending it into the middle/outer part of my lid blending it neatly into the brown.

I dabbed my finger into a silvery highlighter and putting it into the inner corner of my eye. After I finished doing my eyeshadow I put on some mascara, I looked through my makeup and found a matte nude copper rose coloured lipstick and applied it onto my lips. I reached over towards the right corner of the desk grabbing a small black box, inside was a ring that my mom gave me. I looked at it and smiled softly, I remember when she used to take me to a donut shop that was only open after 10 pm, we used to sneak out after my dad fell asleep yo get donuts.
I chuckled slightly remembering the memory before sliding the ring onto my right ring finger, I looked at myself in the mirror. Noticing every detail about myself, the way by eyes were shaped, My eyebrows, everything. I looked away trying to not get to much into my thoughts, I walked over towards my bed and reached under it pulling out a nike shoe box. I opened it revealing a curling iron, picking it up and walking back to my desk and plugging it in. I brushed out and sectioned my hair and after 30 ish minutes I finished curling my hair brushing it out a little.
By now it was 6:40pm and the dance started at 7, I walked over towards by dress eyeing it. I was hesitating and second guessing this whole thing. I exhaled and took off my shirt and shorts before slipping the dress on, "Jesus christ this is like 15 pounds of fabric." I muttered to myself dipping the dress up. "15 pounds of I added from how tight I realized it was.
I grabbed a pair of black flats, it's not like anyone will see my shoes under my dress anyways. I slipped them on and grabbed a coconut scented perfume spraying it onto my neck a few times before shrugging, "fuck it." i said to myself before practically spraying my whole body.

I looked back into the mirror fixing a little bit of my concealer before grabbing the door handle. I stood there for a second and took a deep breath practically preparing myself.
I opened my door walking into the school corridor looking down the hallway before walking towards the loud music being played in the gymnasium. There was a banner and posters labeled "Vote Lizzie Saltzman for Prom Queen!" literally everywhere. I rolled my eyes before slowly approaching the gym and walking in, coloured lights flashing, music blasting, people dancing. And then there was Hope; Standing with Lizzie and Josie talking and laughing together. I looked at her, for a second I thought time stopped. She looked back at me and smiled softly.
And in that moment I knew, every love song i've ever heard.. was suddenly , all about her.

Follow Siyu Grey on his story of world exploration and his attempt to fulfill his purpose in a story that is much greater in scope than he can perceive alone. Also, just a note.
