Entering my house, I grabbed a beer from the fridge and joined my father in the kitchen who was busy reading a newspaper from Dominican Republic. He must've stopped by a Mexican restaurant to get one of those. "Wasup pops",I said sitting across from him.
"Nothing much you hear what's going on in the dominicanas?",he asked me.
"No what?",I asked even though I wasn't all that interested.
"There's rivalry between us and Haitians. There's people killing and cutting the haitian's heads off. It's just really bad over there."
"Really? Do you know why",suddenly I became interested because the girl I was dating was Haitian.
"Dominicans discriminating Haitians. Stripping them of their birth rights and wants the Haitians to prove they are Dominicans although they don't look Dominican",my dad explained.
"Damn that's tough."
"Yeah it's unfair. Isn't the girl your talking to Dominican?",he asked. He's heard talks about Khia but never seen her, same for my mom. "No she's Haitian."
"You don't love the latinas no more son?",he asked confused.
"No it's not that I just wanted to try something different this time."
"Your lucky this is the Americas because if you was back home, your little girlfriend would've got killed and you would've been in some trouble too."
"Thank God for the land of the free right",I said getting up from the table. I wasn't mad about what my pops said but It kinda made me a bit upset because I decided to date outside of my race. I'm not sure if they like her or not yet but if already made up in my mind that I will continue seeing her. Khia was innocent, beautiful Goddess-like, she was more than just a queen and I couldn't wait to treat her right. However, if my parents doesn't like her because of her nationality, this relationship is going to suffer a great deal but I ain't gonna be like her ex and let her be a sidechick because she ain't sidechick material to me. I opened my gray MacBook and went to the school website to see what assignments I had to do. I loved doing my work and handing it in before the due date so I ain't got to worry about it later. I loved my major but I was thinking about switching it up to business. With college you want to do one thing but end up finding something else you wanna do. Criminal justice was a cool major but anybody can get a degree in that and I wanna make big bucks in the future. I was a straight A kid, best in my class so I wonder how it would change if I decided to change majors. As I layed down and thought about my future, it made me happy. When your a kid that came from a poor country you have the ambition to achieve a lot and set high goals for yourself. The grind never stops. You reach your goal, you set new goals that was how my mind was set up. Suddenly my phone ring, it was babygirl.

"Hey novio? Did I say that right?",she said. I laughed and said,"yea you did. Where you learned that?"
"You want the truth?",she asked me.
"I always want the truth."
"Google translate",she said giggling and I laughed as well. I like the fact that she was tryna learn the language. It made me appreciate her even more cause it was cute. "Wasup with you",I asked her.
"Nothing I was just thinking about how you didn't even talk to me today. Is that what boyfriends do?"
"Nah not your boyfriend. I apologize babygirl."
"Apology accepted." I got a full hour in talking to her before I decided to hit the books. It was almost a quarter to midnight and I was still trying to study but my mind gave up on me and my brain was starting to hurt. I was burning myself out.
"Mi hijo",my mom came in my room and said.
"Hey mom."
"I see your studying for your classes I did not want to interrupt. You know you have school in the morning hijo get some rest."
My mom was so caring and I loved that about her. "Si mamá. I will",I said. She came to me and kissed me on the forehead. She's been doing that since I was little but I didn't mind it. My mom was amazing and I truly believed that.

This novel has a lot of ground to cover, it is neither a short story, a manual on crafting, or the script of some action scene. There will be both time skips and oversimplifications of some actions for the sake of moving the story forward. Time skips will be more prominent in the first 30 chapters. I will describe crafting processes and fights with more detail if they are essential for the chapter; 6. If I took my time describing something, it's because it is important. I hate novels that waste time describing useless stuff. If you skim over something, the chances are that something in the future will not make sense. I am an adept of "Chekhov's gun" principle; 7. I already have 31k words on my auxiliary documents, I have a plan for the story, and I will not be making changes even if someone ends up noticing some foreshadowing and figures out what will happen. The story comes first. 8. I have a wife, a job that demands 9h every day and courses related to my job (lawyer) three days of the week, it's unlikely that I will be able to do mass releases at all. I will have a healthy amount of chapters to be able to post at least 1 chapter every day continually. Don't worry. 9. I will read all the comments. I will listen to all you have to say and will try my best to accommodate demands as long as they do not hamper the path I prepared. 10. There is an arc that spans the entire novel. Each volume will be an arc in itself while progressing a little bit of the main arc. Every arc will have one or more main antagonists. I think that's it! Thank you for reading it all.
