《Lover's Day: Izuku Midoriya x Reader x Bakugou》Chapter 9: Jealousy

"Not him! You can't mean it!" Uraraka protested, hands flailing.
"I mean it."
"F/N, No!"
"F/N, YEEESSSSSS." You hissed with a devilish grin.
"He's so... uh... I don't think I can handle..." She didn't seem as disgusted as you originally thought. Rather she appeared cornered, like a frightened animal.
"Ah... Well... I suppose since they are pursuing both of us, it doesn't really matter which one of us gets with him. I'll do it then." Even if Midoriya likes Uraraka more, seeing his close friend dating his rival still has to sting a little. Besides, you secretly always wanted to know what Midoriya's jealousy looks like. 'Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever once seen him get angry.' But you always imagined it would be something akin to having a dandelion yell at you.
"Are you sure? He's like one eye patch and a Persian cat away from being a supervillain." You covered your mouth to muffle an outburst of laughter.
"Gee, Ochako. Tell me what you really think..." Her bluntness has officially reached maximum levels. "It's settled then. All we have to do is find a guy for you. Is there anyone in the class that isn't already set up with someone?"
"Well I'm pretty sure Todoroki is ruled out... How about Kaminari?" You winced, remembering you had already attempted to set him up with Jirou. You shook your head.
"Uh... Minet-"
"Pass." She deadpanned flatly.
"Hey guys!" A familiar voice startled you from behind.
"...Hey Kirishiiiimaaaaaa." You smirked mischieviously, throwing Uraraka a significant glance. "What are you still doing here?" You inquired casually.
"On my way to the gym. Want to come?" He offered.
"Oh. I'm sorry, Kiri. I can't. But I'm sure Ochako would looooove to join you." You scooted her over to him, tapping on her bum in encouragement.
"Rad!" He exclaimed with an oblivious smile. "It's upper body day, Uraraka. Are you pumped?!" His painfully upbeat disposition made Ochako roll her eyes.
"See you all tomorrow." You called, noting Ochako staring daggers at you as you walked away.
"Ugh. My arms are killing me." Uraraka complained as you entered the lunchroom. You snickered before noticing her frowning at the table where Ida and Midoriya sat. You patted her gently on the shoulder. "We have to play this as if nothing has changed." She nodded, exhaling her aggression with a puff. You scoped out Bakugou, who was standing near the buffet table. "I'll meet you at the lunch table in a minute." You swept over to him flirtatiously. "Kacchan." You touched his arm with your fingertips. He turned to face you with a bored expression.
"What?"
"I wanted to gi-" You realized the heaping congregation blocked a direct line of sight to Izuku. "Er- one sec." You shifted his position to the gap in the crowd. His brows furrowed in puzzlement. Midoriya's hair came into clear view. 'Wait. Did he brush it today?! Weird.'
"Ah. There." You stopped him with your arms. "I just wanted to pay you back for the coffee you gave me." You said, unzipping your bag.
"It's fine. Forget about it." He grunted.
"I insist. I heard you liked spicy food. So I made you something-"
"I don't want it." He spat.
"Why?" Your mouth fell open. You would have felt offended if you actually cared what he thought of you.
"Because you're a shit cook."

"Wha-" You blinked, now recalling that you took the blame for Midoriya's ghastly muffins the other day. You cracked up, remembering to touch his shoulder saucily as you did so. "I promise you it's better this time." You pulled out a bite with your fingers shoving it into his mouth. You quickly retreated your hand, thanking every possible existing deity that you still retained all of your fingers. You waited in anticipation as he chewed. "Good, huh?" He said nothing but swiftly swiped the container from your hand. You had the mind to lick the fingers that just touched his mouth in a provocative matter for emphasis but you couldn't bring yourself to go through with it. He turned and walked towards his table.
"Thanks." He muttered, barely audible.
"Glad you like it. Bye, Kacchan!" You called with way too much exuberance. 'Jeez... That was only 30 seconds with him and I'm already exhausted. This is going to be a lot of work.'
You approached the usual lunch table. "D to the eku." You said coolly, pointing and winking at him with a smile.
"Oh hey, F/N." Izuku greeted as you sat down. "You didn't text me back last night. Is everything okay?"
"Must've fallen asleep." You lied. 'I actually ignored your cheating butt on purpose.'
"So what were you talking to Bakugou about?" Ochako cooed. Izuku looked at you expectantly.
"I was just thanking him for the gift he gave me the other day. I made him something spicy." Then it dawned on you, "Oh crap! He took the whole container and the rest of my lunch was in there with it!" 'I'm an idiot.'
"It's probably just as well... You're a terrible cook."
"URARAKA!!!" Izuku and Iida squawked in unison. You sighed, smacking your palm to your forehead, the other one resting on the table.
"I-" A warm gentle touch caressed your hand. "I'll share my lunch with you." Izuku said softly. You looked over to his larger hand on top of your small one, then up at his face. He turned his head away, surveying the floor as the color rose in his cheeks. You couldn't hold back your own smile. 'Oh god! I'm blushing now too! This didn't happen before! What's different this time?!' You bit your lip, looking away flustered for a moment. You glanced up, meeting Uraraka's glare. She raised a questionable eyebrow at you, nonverbally ordering you to resist. Your bashful smile ebbed briefly, but immediately returned upon deciding to defy her. 'I just need one more, Ochako!'
You took his hand in both of yours, beaming at him. "Thank you, Izuku. You're the sweetest! And your hair looks really good today." His blush deepened, running his fingers through his less-messy-than-usual curls.
"That's nice of you to say. Thank you." He moved his lunch halfway in between the two of you. You slid your bottom closer to him, pressing your leg and shoulder against his as you reached for the food. You could feel Uraraka's penetrating stare as you and Midoriya indulged yourselves in each other's delighted giggles. You didn't have to look up to know what she was thinking: 'You are being absolutely counterproductive.'
Something drew your attention outwards. Piercing red eyes met yours from across the room. Bakugou was watching you with the same probing gaze that he had given you when you first walked down the hall with Midoriya a week ago. He scowled, glancing at your hands intertwined with Izuku's. You smugly smiled at him, jerking your eyebrows upward in a challenging gesture; as if to proudly ask 'What are you gonna do about it?'

"I will be right back. I need to use the restroom." Uraraka said, interrupting. "F/N? Would you help me fix my hair?" You narrowed your eyes at her, emanating hatred from having your moment with Izuku cut short.
"Yeah... No problem..." You peevishly agreed and rose from your seat to join her.
"What do you think you're doing?" She accused upon entering the bathroom.
"Uh... I figured... the plan could be more effective if we led them on first..."
"You're so full of crap, F/N." Ochako wasn't buying your deceit.
"I had a moment of weakness! So sue me!" You hollered in confession.
"What I just witnessed was some self-indulgent rubbish." She turned from the mirror to face you. "Have you already forgotten what they did?" You frowned, hanging your head as the swell of betrayal washed into your chest again.
"No... You're right. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." She saw your melancholic aura and sighed.
"Don't feel bad. I understand. What he did was pretty cute." She admitted. "But no more. Remember what they did to deserve this." She clenched her fist with strong resolve.
You two returned to the table again to sit down.
"Ah. Uraraka. You left so quickly I didn't get the chance to give you something." Iida stated. Her eyes widened in excitement. "Here." He handed her a very thick binder adorned in her favorite color.
"What is this?"
"It's a school planner." He stated with pride. It was thicker than your biggest school textbook. "I have included the itinerary for the next 3 years." Her jaw dropped, obviously speechless. "I remember you mentioning that you needed to buy yourself a day planner. So I... took the liberty of making you one." You smirked to yourself. 'That's such an Iida gift.'
"Oh my gosh, Tenya!" She squealed. "3 years?! That must have taken you so much time!"
"Oh..." He blushed slightly. "It was nothing."
"This is amazing!" She gushed, hugging his arm. "I'll never forget another assignment again!"
"I'm happy to help!" He exclaimed. You crossed your arms and raised your eyebrows at Uraraka as she affectionately squeezed Iida's arm. She pouted her lips in realization.
'Oh shut up.' She silently voiced to you.
"F/N. I saved you the last bite." Izuku beamed, holding up the portion at face level. "Say aaah."
'I guess we're postponing the plan until later...'
As you walked to the next class you reflected on everything Uraraka said, replaying the image of Midoriya handing the book to Iida over and over. You mind flickered to him asking about Uraraka's likes and dislikes. Something about this whole thing seemed really wrong. Someone playing games with two girls probably wouldn't blatantly ask one about the other's preferences. 'I feel like Izuku wouldn't be that stupid...' You pondered for a moment. 'Unless he has absolutely no regard for your feelings...'
You stopped dead in your tracks, the thought striking a deep painful chord within you. If that were the case, it would not only be cruel to a casual love interest, but a complete betrayal to your friendship as well. The tiniest beads of tears formed at the corners of your eyes. You pulled it together before entering the classroom.
'Oh, what fresh hell is this?' Perched like a hawk on your desktop was Bakugou. You gulped in uncertainty as you approached. "Hey." You jerked your chin at him as a greeting, poker face adorned.
"Hey." He replied in his default growly tone. He handed over your empty lunch container.
"Well?" You asked expectantly, letting it plop to the floor beside your bookbag.
"Well what?"
"What did you think of it?"
"It didn't suck as bad as the first one." He answered. You crossed your arms and swayed your hips playfully.
"Come on, I know there's a compliment in there somewhere." You teased. Just then, Midoriya sauntered into the room. Katsuki noticed, his body language shifted immediately.
"Maybe there was and maybe there wasn't." He suggested, leaning forward closer to you.
"Either way, you are on my desk. Move." You raised an eyebrow, pulling on his jacket. He grabbed your arms as he stood, towering over you with his chest against yours.
"Ah! What are you-" Izuku ran over as if he was about to save your life. You and Katsuki ignored him, staring each other down for a moment before a confident smile spread across your faces. It became abundantly clear that you were both on the same page. You shot him a significant glance as you sat. Midoriya looked relieved but confused, setting his yellow backpack on the ground. Bakugou craftily used his hesitation to slip into the seat in front of you.
"Uh- Kacchan? That's my seat."
"Sit somewhere else, nerd." He spat. Izuku looked at you as if expecting you to come to his defense. He was mistaken. You sat your chin in your palm, looking away. You heard him sigh, watching him traipse to the back of the room, shunned. Oh, how that stung. You felt there was no way that hurt him as much as it hurt you.
'Just remember who betrayed who.' You told yourself in justification.
As class ended, you decided to step it up a notch and see how far you could take it. You swiftly snatched Bakugou's wallet peeking out of the corner of his pocket. You opened and examined it in front of him.
"Hey." He said in his normal low threatening tone.
"No pictures of me in here. How disappointing." You sighed nonchalantly.
"That's mine." He repeated.
"Well maybe I feel like you owe me since you ate my whole lunch today." You teased.
"Give it back." He stood up, but didn't look at all menacing.
"You'll have to take it from me." You grinned astutely. Before you could blink, he rushed you. In an instant you saw your life flash before your eyes. You yelped as he lifted you by the waist, hoisting you over his shoulder. You hung there helplessly like a ragdoll for a moment before you found your bearings.
"Now put it back like a good little girl." He sniggered, talking down to you. You propped up on one elbow, accepting defeat as you slid the wallet back into his pocket. "But I'll take you up on that offer..." He began.
"Hm?"
"I'll pay you back. We'll go to the cafe by my house later."
"Fine. Can I walk or are you just gonna carry me all the way?" You asked sarcastically. He pulled you upright, allowing you to gracefully slide down his chest onto your feet. This time you were able to steal a glance at Midoriya, who reflected a perturbed and possibly offended expression. 'Ooh... could that be jealousy?' A sick sort of satisfaction flared inside you.
"Later." Bakugou said to you on his way out the door. You collected your things, meeting Kirishima's gaze. His eyebrows were knit in a judgemental expression that almost said 'what are you doing?' You weren't sure why but it felt as if Kirishima saw through your façade. He does sit next to you but how much could he possibly know? You recalled him witnessing you and Midoriya pass notes all semester. Perhaps he thought you were being intentionally cruel to him a moment ago. '...I'm probably overthinking all of this... He's probably just confused because Bakugou didn't murder me just now.' You decided to shake it off and gather your bag, jogging out of the room.
Uraraka had texted you to meet her in the bathroom shortly after Bakugou had taken Midoriya's seat. You barely entered the door before she exclaimed, "Wow! You work fast!"
"I know, right?!" You guffawed in astonishment.
"How did you get Bakugou to play the part so smoothly?!"
"That's the thing! I didn't say anything to him at all!"
"So he's just acting on his own? Scary."
"-Can't believe this." You heard Momo's voice as the door opened.
"It's not that bad." Tsuyu answered.
"Oh hey girls." You and Uraraka greeted in unison. Momo sighed exasperatedly.
"I can't believe this. I can't fit in my hero costume anymore." She confessed angrily. Now that she mentioned it, Momo had definitely put on weight recently.
"Oh no. Did it shrink in the wash or something?' You asked politely.
"You don't have to pretend not to notice. I just keep getting so much chocolate..."
"You didn't have to eat it all at once!" Uraraka exclaimed. You winced at her rudeness.
"Indeed." She exhaled ruefully. "By the way... what was that about just now, F/N?"
"Huh?"
"Why did you agree to a date with Bakugou? Aren't you sweet on Midoriya?" She asked in a scrutinizing way. Your eyes widened as you stared down at the floor. 'Is it that obvious?!' You wondered.
"Uh..." Was all you could squeak out.
"That's right. You guys are really close." Tsuyu added. "Didn't you see how his feelings were hurt just now?"
"W-why would his feelings be hurt?" You asked shakily.
"I imagine it's because he's jealous." Momo said simply.
"You don't say..." You averted her gaze. She narrowed her eyes.
"Wait a minute. You planned this on purpose, didn't' you?" You clenched your teeth with guilt. "Why would you-"
"Before you judge, let me explain the situation." Uraraka calmly interjected. You let out a sigh.
"It's not like he cares anyway." You mumbled miserably, the sharp pain rising in your chest again.
"What makes you think that?" Tsuyu asked.
"...Nevermind." You said, not wanting to confirm or deny any feelings you were having about this whole ordeal. "Ochako, you tell them. I have to go. Don't want to be late for my date."
