《Lover's Day: Izuku Midoriya x Reader x Bakugou》Chapter 1- Lovers Day

This is a reader insert. So F/N is first name. L/N is last name, etc. 'Italics' is your inner monologue. Enjoy.
"What are you reading, Ochako?" You asked curiously, tilting your head to glance at the cover from across the table.
"Just a romance novel I found at the bookstore. I thought it looked interesting." She replied in a slightly insecure sort of way, closing the book as you sat down to join her. Sappy stories were a very occasional guilty pleasure for you as well. Although you would never let on that you were a hopeless romantic.
"Oh! That reminds me! Lovers Day is coming up in a few weeks!" You exclaimed with excitement.
"Lovers Day? What's that?" Midoriya asked.
"You guys never celebrated Lovers Day?" You asked in bewilderment. The whole table shook their head in conjunction. "Well it's like a day devoted specifically to the people you love. It's a splendid affair. My old school used to celebrate it every year." You stroked your chin thoughtfully. "Although it did change as we got older. When we were little we would just give cards to everybody. ...But when we got to middle school it became a lot more like a competition."
"A competition?!" Ida demanded in confused disapproval.
"Yeah. The guys make grand romantic gestures to a girl that they're interested in and by the end she picks a victor. And whoever wins gets a special gift from the girl." You smiled brightly, reminiscing on past years.
"What's the special gift?" Izuku chimed in again.
"Anything I suppose. It could be home-made cookies, giftcards, a kiss-"
"A KISS?!" Several of them roared in unison. You nodded and shrugged. It was nothing shocking or new to you. Personally you had never given that reward to your competitors. Since they never seemed to be the ones you were interested in at the time. Go figure.
"How do you win?" Kaminari asked from a few seats down the lunch table.
"Hm..." You thought pensively, bringing your fingertip to your lips. "Well I guess it would just depend on the girl in question. That's what makes this whole thing interesting. Guys have to be romantic in the way he thinks the girl will like."
You watched as the commotion began to build. Sultry whispers and courting plans shot back and forth across the lunch tables.

A deeper explanation could have been given but you thought it best to leave out some details... the horror of rejection is the price that accompanies this festivity. There are always some that don't receive anything. You grimaced as you remembered the year that you didn't get anything, and the other year that your best guy friend didn't win the heart of the girl he had a crush on. You recalled having to comfort him for weeks.
"F/N?" Ochako said. "Huh?" You snapped back into reality. "Is there anything else we should know about celebrating this holiday?" She asked.
"You mean you'll celebrate it with me?" You asked joyfully. Ida and Ochako smiled and nodded from across the table while Izuku stayed terribly quiet. You smiled radiantly at them and answered, "No, I think that's all there is to it. I'm curious to see what everyone comes up with. I have seen some amazing gifts over the years. I remember a rich girl in my homeroom that bought her victor a piece of really expensive equipment to go with his quirk."
"Wow." Ochako said, her face painted with immense intimidation. "Oh, don't worry! Nobody ever expects that much." You said, noticing her discomfort. "It's meant to be for fun mostly. Pretty much everyone is just happy they got chosen."
"What is the date exactly?" Ida asked in his usual professional demeanor.
"Two weeks from this Friday... So you better get started on ideas." You said, winking at him playfully.
You arrived at school the next morning to catch sight of red and pink signs scattered across the courtyard. It blended illustriously with the floating pink petals from the cherry blossom trees. The buzz of Lovers Day was gaining mass at breakneck speeds. You were astonished at how much hype this was getting. Out of the corner of your eye you spotted a speck of green among all the pink and red.
"Izuku!" You waved your hand and skipped over to him.
"What is all of this?" He asked, equally confounded by the abrupt change in the color-scheme of campus.
"Isn't it great?" You cooed, spinning in place. "It looks like the whole school is going to celebrate Lovers Day! I wonder who did all of this." As you approached the front door, Izuku opened it for you with a little smile. "Mm. Thank ya, darling." You said, doing a tiny curtsy in acknowledgement of his chivalry.

'That was a little weird.' You weren't sure what had just come over you in that moment. It was like the romantic energy surrounding the school just caused you to inadvertently flirt with Midoriya. "You're welcome." He uttered a little too quickly.
You walked down the hall by his side, noticing people already starting to pair off. "I guess nobody's wasting any time." You pointed out, a little uneasy. You observed that he was distracted by all the pandemonium too. "Reminds me of mating season on Animal Planet." You added to abate his discomfort. 'Crap. That probably just made it more awkward.'
Making way down the hallway you caught the eye of Bakugou who was leaning haphazardly against the windowsill. He was staring at you as if you were something that needed to be dissected. It made you terribly uncomfortable. In order to diffuse (you know, since he's a walking bomb and all) the tension, you presented a big fake grin and waved. His eyes narrowed, a tiny smile pulling at one corner of his mouth. 'Oh, god... this is even worse.' You thought to yourself. You heaved a sigh of relief after you passed him.
"Oh, I almost forgot, Izuku." You said. "I have a favor to ask you."
"What do you need?" He asked sweetly, his cheeks still dusted pink from being called 'darling.'
"I'm going to be out of school on Tuesday. I have an appointment. Could I maybe borrow your notes after school that day?"
"Sure." Izuku said, his voice unnaturally gruff. *ahem* He cleared his throat as you rounded the corner into the classroom.
"Thanks. I'll be over around 6?"
He agreed, sitting down in his seat. It was one desk up to your left. However, in all your afternoon classes he sat in the empty desk in front of you. Passing notes and doodles to each other was easier that way. And it made some of the boring classes more bearable.
"Chocolate?!" A voice echoed across the room. You looked back to see Momo's entire desk gorged with boxes of chocolate. It must be from more than half the boys in homeroom!
"There's so many!" She exclaimed.
Your twisted shocked face morphed into a wide mischievous grin. "You certainly have your work cut out for you, Momo!" You hollered to her melodramatically. "How will you ever choose?" She shook her head at you in annoyance.
Lecture had only begun moments before Midoriya passed you a note in a clumsily obvious manner. You opened it and quietly chuckled for 2 reasons. The first being the fact that he signed his name. 'As if I didn't know it was from you, Midoriya...' And second: 'Couldn't you have just asked me this 5 minutes ago?'
"What do we have here?" The teacher interjected. 'Oh, great...' He swiftly sauntered over to your desk. "Nothing, Mr. Aizawa!" You smiled politely, while strategically using your elbow to cover the paper. Despite your not-so-cunning attempt, he snatched up the note and proceeded to read it aloud.
"Will you meet me in the student lounge tomorrow morning before school?" He read in a theatrically sarcastic romantic tone. "...Signed Izuku Midoriya."
"Oooooh." The class jeered in unity. You heard a mix of cheesy-romantic oohs and you're-in-trouble oohs. But the former was definitely more pronounced. You rolled your eyes.
You glanced over to Midoriya, who's face reflected several different shades of red before it finally hit the desk. 'Poor Midoriya. If anyone were capable of actually dying from embarrassment it would be him.' You looked up to meet your teacher's glower once more.
"What do you have to say about this?" He asked you with frosty derision.
"I guess I'll say yes." You answered. A few snickers rose in the background in response to your quick wit.
"That's not what I meant." He said, whacking you over the head with his rolled up lesson plan. Your peers cackled louder this time. "No notes in class." Mr. Aizawa concluded, returning to his post. "Consider this your first and only warning."
You sighed, bringing your hand to your face in relief. You speculated as to why he chose to pick on you about it and not Izuku, since he was actually the one who passed the note. 'I wonder if he did that on purpose to be nice.' If so, you were grateful for his kindness.
