"Kaia!" You shouted. Kaia flew into the room.
"What now?" Kaia sighed.
"How the hell do you change a fricking diaper?" You asked, struggling to change Gabriel's diaper for the millionth time.
"I feel like I'm the mother." Kaia facepalmed.
"Why should you?" You rolled your eyes.
"Because Gajeel is the only one who actually does parenting!" Kaia shouted.
Gajeel walked into the nursery, holding Avril.
"What now, (y/n)?" Gajeel sighed.
"She still doesn't know how to change a damned diaper." Kaia explained.
"Hold Avril and drop the diaper," Gajeel groaned, annoyed. You took Avril from Gajeel's arms and handed him the clean diaper. "You're lucky Gabriel is calm. If you were changing Avril's diaper you would've had a headache." Gajeel said, changing Gabriel and scooping him clean.
"Unfortunately, none of you ever taught me." You gawked. Avril fell asleep in your arms. You placed her in her crib to sleep.
"Gabriel is pooped. I'm putting him to like sleep." Gajeel flushed, putting Gabriel in his crib. Gabriel fell right asleep. "Actually, no need."
"Another day has been completed! Time for a nap!" You cheered sarcastically.
9:00 pm.
You pulled the covers over yourself while Gajeel removed his shirt.
"Oh my god, the feeling of relaxation is my favorite." You sighed in relief. Gajeel got into bed.
"Two more years (y/n), two more years." Gajeel reassured.
"Until they learn how to dress up," You rolled your eyes. Gajeel kissed your temple and tucked some of your hair behind your ear.
"C'mon (y/n), don't be that way." Gajeel said. "The twins are going to grow up and be amazing kids. Unless you keep talking about them so poorly."
"Gajeel, I'm loosing my mind! I get headaches 25/8 because of the twins."
"Your just sleep deprived. We'll talk tomorrow." Gajeel turned around and closed the lamp.
1:30 am.
You heard cries from the nursery.
"Gajeel," you muttered, still half asleep. "It's Avril. You're the only one that's good with her."
Gajeel groaned and managed to roll out of bed. He quickly slipped on some pants and got to the twins' room and started to cradle Avril, calming her down.

"What do you want, Avril?" Gajeel sighed. Avril was awake and alive. She began to pull on Gajeel's hair a little. Gajeel rolled his eyes. He went to the kitchen to grab a drink of water. Avril started to poke at Gajeel's bare chest.
"You only wanted attention, huh?" Gajeel smiled softly, putting down his empty glass. Avril feintly smiled.
"Huh?" Gajeel gasped. "Avril smiled," He muttered. He went to sit down on the couch. Gajeel lay down on the couch and put Avril on his stomach. Hopefully she would fall asleep. Gajeel watched little Avril fall asleep on top of him. He gently put one hand on top of her back. Gajeel also soon drifted asleep.
4:30 am.
A huge crash was heard from outside. Gajeel woke up startled. He gently cradled Avril in his arms as he checked out what the ruckus was.
The crash was so loud that it also woke up Gabriel. You heard his cries and tried to calm him down in your arms. You walked to the living room to meet up with Gajeel.
"What happened?" You asked.
"Dunno." Gajeel muttered. Lily and Kaia woke up as well. You and Gajeel went to look out the window, in order to see what was going on. Kaia and Lily approached you both.
Suddenly, the glass window in front of you and Gajeel shattered to minuscule
pieces. You and Gajeel protected the children as well as you could. The exceeds acted as a shield, taking on their combat form.
"What the hell is going on?" Gajeel shouted. In the distance, you saw 2 tall figures. As they can closer, their faces became clearer.
"Jose!" Gajeel grit his teeth.
"Ivan..." You muttered. "What could they possibly be planning together."
"What the hell do you both want here?" Gajeel shouted at his former guildmaster.
"We only want baby Avril," Ivan said.
"If you'll just hand her over, we'll leave you alone." Jose said casually.
"Not in a million years!" You grit your teeth.
Jose threw a small magic blast at you, trying to hurt Gabriel as a way to bribe you. Gajeel quickly stepped in front of you, using his back as a shield to protect his family.

"Aww, how adorable!" Jose said evilly. "Gajeel tried protecting something other than himself!"
Lily took Avril from Gajeel's arms and left for your room.
"Get lost!" Gajeel clenched his fists, annoyed with Jose's typical attitude.
"Kaia, take Gabriel and try keeping him calm. Me and Gajeel will handle this." You whispered to Kaia who took Gabriel in her arms.
"But you're still recovering!" She whisper yelled.
"I'll be ok just make sure the twins don't get hurt." You reassured. Kaia nodded and headed to your room.
"You messed with the wrong people," you growled, turning your arm into a sword and charging towards Ivan. Ivan countered your attack by drawing another sword, causing the two swords to collide.
"Did we now?" He smirked. He knocked you back with a simple flick. You fell to the ground as your arm turned back to normal. You coughed.
"(Y/n)!" Gajeel shouted. He tensed and looked at Jose with an aggressive expression. "You never know when to stop, do you?" Gajeel growled.
"Perhaps I don't," Jose grew an evil smirk on his face. "I don't stop 'till I get what I want!" Small magic bullets shot from his hand but Gajeel deflected them all with his Iron Pillar. Gajeel pinned Jose against a tree with his pillar.
"If you think I'm going to just hand over my daughter to you, you're dead wrong!" Gajeel spat.
"Steel Dragon Secret Art: Metal Riptide!" You shouted, sending a huge wave of sharp, metal scraps towards Ivan.
Ivan snapped his fingers and teleported away, also deflecting the scraps and sending them in your direction. You quickly jumped away from the metal, but one scratched your cheek, making it draw blood. You lightly caressed it to see what had happened. You looked down at your palm, and the tips of your fingers were stained red.
Jose saw his chance and kicked Gajeel in the stomach, making Gajeel let go of him. You and Gajeel both backed away and bumped into each other's backs. Pantherlily came outside to help with the quarrel.
You and Gajeel intertwined fingers and faced the two enemies. You were planning a Unison Raid. A grey magic ball began to form within your hands. Once it was big enough, you and Gajeel sent it towards Ivan and Jose. Jose took the hit, but Ivan was no where in sight.
"Where the hell'd he go?" Gajeel muttered.
"Peekaboo." Ivan whispered, stabbing your torso.
Your eyes were wide open as you looked down to see your side dripping a bright red. And that wasn't the worst part. Ivan got a hold of Avril. You dropped to your knees and clenched your sides. Gajeel looked at you in horror.
"Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no." Gajeel stuttered, trying to stop the blood.
"Now all we gotta do is drain all of baby Avril's magic power, and use it to bring back what was once ours!" Ivan said.
"Are you trying to kill her?" Pantherlily began charging at the two with his sword.
"If that's what it takes!" Jose chuckled evilly.
You and Gajeel gave Ivan and Jose horrifying looks. Both of you began to shine a bright gold. Your wounds began to heal and Pantherlily began to feel immense magic power coming from the both of you.
"Is this...Dragon Spirit?" Lily muffled. "When two dragon slayers have immense chemistry, and one is at the brink of death, the two will combine powers and heal one another...But I thought it was just a myth!" Pantherlily was amazed. Even Levy thought it wasn't true!
You and Gajeel slowly got up and began to gain magic power. The both of you charged at Ivan and Jose, and with one punch, both of them were down. Lily caught Avril.
"Get lost." Gajeel growled at the both of them.
"This isn't the last of us!" Jose shouted, shortly disappearing.
"Those damned pests," you muttered. You took Avril in your hands and kissed her forehead.

Virtuous Sons
The saying goes that when a man is born the Fates weave his destiny and swaddle him in it. Then one day the man dies, and the swaddle becomes a shroud. Heaven moves on. It is audacity to question the Fates. Olympus is Olympus. The land of men is the land of men. To transgress that, to cross the line of divinity and scale Olympus Mons? To defy the Fates and cast off their threads? That is hubris. It’s a mark that every philosopher bears plainly on their soul. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
