From above you could hear talking. You looked at Thomas and raised a finger to your lips. All three of them were talking at once. You heard Luda's voice raise above Hoyt's and Monty's. She was in a panic. You looked at Thomas, who seemed a little nervous.

This wasn't good.

"What are we gonna do now?!"

"Mama, would you quit your damn belly-aching? Ain't nothing gonna happen."

"I told you bringing her here wouldn't be any good!"

"If that boy would have done what he was supposed to we wouldn't be in this in the first place!"

"Don't you even dare blame him! You started this, not him. If you had let her be like I said, he wouldn't have even known about her."

"She was only one girl! How was I supposed to know?!"

"If I do recall, she told you exactly where she was going."

Hoyt remained silent for a minute. Monty shook his head.

"It doesn't matter now. What's done is done."

Hoyt and Luda both turned back to him. They knew Monty was right. Hoyt hadn't listened. Thomas had caught her. She was supposed to be dead. That was that. But b/n had showed up and he had saw her. That was enough done.

Luda paused for a moment. She knew they had to come up with something and fast. They were running out of time.

"Bring them up here."

"What for? Ain't they caused enough trouble?"

"Charlie, we're running out of time and we need to do something fast. Just do as I say."

Hoyt looked at Luda for a moment before he nodded and turned, heading out towards the basement door.

When the arguing stopped Thomas looked at you. His eyes held worry. He gave a small whine as he heard Hoyt's footsteps get closer to the door. You reached over and laid your hand on his arm.

"Hey, it'll be okay..."

He looked at you then to the ground. He gave another small whine. You frowned a bit and placed your hand under his chin, lifting his head a bit so he looked at you.

"I promise, Tommy. It'll be okay."

Thomas gave a small nod as you lowered your hand. He was for sure that he had heard them talking about you. And that only meant one thing. Trouble had started. He looked at you. He didn't want to loose you. Not now.

You both heard the door open. There was a moment of silence before Hoyt's voice drifted down.

"Boy, get up here. Bring her too."

Thomas stood up and looked at you for a moment before you also stood up. You silently followed him upstairs where Hoyt stood.

"In the kitchen."

You and Thomas passed by Hoyt and headed straight to the kitchen, no questions asked. Hoyt followed behind you.

Thomas pushed open the door to the kitchen where Monty and Luda sat. Luda looked up at you and nodded to the empty seats at the table. You sat down quietly and so did Thomas, besides you. Hoyt on the other hand went over behind Monty and leaned against the counter.

You looked at Luda then to Hoyt. The whole room was silent. Thomas sat besides you, fidgeting somewhat. After a while Hoyt looked up from the ground and cleared his throat.

"I ran into a boy today..."

You looked at Thomas with a somewhat disturbed look. He looked back, knowing exactly what was about to come.

"Came flying into the store like a bat out of hell..."

You gave a small groan and laid your head on the table.

"Says some crazy people out here tried to kill him. Says his sister ain't all that dead after all."

You squeezed your eyes shut, muttering to yourself.

"Shit...shit...shit...shit..."

"I tried to tell him that that wreck had been long recovered but he wouldn't listen. Even called me a liar."

Hoyt looked from you to Thomas and back again.

"Mind explaining what the hell went on here while we were gone?"

You sighed and picked your head up, looking at Hoyt.

"Well...someone knocked on the door and I opened it. It turned out to be him and he recognized me-"

"No shit."

"He wouldn't leave so Thomas made him leave..."

Hoyt contemplated for a moment. Before he turned to face Thomas. He stared at him before he turned back to you.

"Well whatever the fuck happened, I told him I meet him here. Which means you two better stay out of view and you'd better be quiet. I'm not exactly sure what to do but if it comes down to it he ain't gonna be the only one your parents are missing."

You looked down and bit your lip.

"I told him I'd also show him the wreck evidence if he'd like so Monty and I better get to work on that. You and Tommy better just go down to the basement until he's gone."

You nodded and turned to Thomas. He seemed to understand as well.

"Go on then."

Thomas stood up as you did and you both began to head back down. As you reached the door, Luda came up behind you. She tapped your shoulder and you stopped. Thomas did as well, standing in the doorway of the basement. Luda gave a nod to Thomas.

"Tommy head on down, she'll be with you in a minute. I just want to have a quick word with her."

Thomas hesitated for a moment before he nodded and headed down, shutting the door behind him. Luda pulled you away for a moment into the living room.

She rested both hands on your shoulders and gave a small sigh before she looked up at you. She looked out into the hallway before turning her attention back to you.

"Y/n, I have to talk to you."

"Okay..."

"We've haven't been in this situation before. I have a feeling something bad may happen."

You gave a small nod in agreement.

"I only ask that if something happens to us, that you take my boy and leave."

"Luda, what do-"

"Please listen to me. We're getting older, y/n. If something happens to us it wouldn't matter anyway but Thomas is a lot younger than us..."

Luda paused for a moment debating something.

"Y/n, not a lot of people know this, including Thomas, but I found him outside the old butcher shop when he was really young. He was just a baby..."

You raised your eyebrows. Thomas was actually adopted?

"...got some skin disease...he was just a little boy when it started...Haven't you seen his face?"

"No...I-I haven't yet. I didnt know."

"Y/n, Thomas has his whole life in front of him yet. I don't want to see something happen to him. That's why I need to to promise me something y/n."

"Yes?"

"If the worst does happen, I want you to take Thomas and run. I don't care where you go or how far you have to run but don't stay here. I only want you to come back when your absolutely sure it's safe. He trusts you, y/n. He'll listen. Even if he doesn't want to just take him away. I don't even care if you have to drag him away from here but please, just go."

You remained silent.

"Can you do that for me?"

"I promise."

Luda's eyes sofened and she hugged you.

"Thank you, y/n..."

"Its no problem..."

"And y/n?"

"Yeah?"

"Please take care of him."

"I will."

"I knew he picked a good one. Now go, I have a feeling we don't have much time left before he gets here and I'm sure Thomas is getting impatient down there without you."

You smiled a bit and nodded. You both left the room. You headed towards the basement and Luda headed back to the kitchen.
