Chapter 7
Chad was about to leave with Christine and I when Ian suddenly kidnapped him for some guy time. I was glad though. If I wanted to pick something out for our date tomorrow, I didn’t want him to be there for it.
“So, you’re going out with Chad tomorrow? That’s sweet. That bitch broke his heart from what I heard.” She seethed as we rifled through the clothes rack.
“That’s terrible!” I gasped. “He just told me she left him for some actor. I didn’t know he was in love with her or anything like that.” Ugh, just what I needed: some guy with bad relationship history and a broken heart. Those were always fun…
Nothing against Chad or anything, he seemed like he would be a great guy to date. But damaged goods were damaged goods. What if he was really sensitive about everything? What if he wanted to jump into things too quickly?
“Calm down, I can see it in your eyes. Stop freaking out.” Christine laughed.
“How can you just read me like that? I’m not that much of an open book.” I grumbled.
“Eh…” She said, matter-of-factly and I gave her a playful shove.
“So, what do you think I should wear then?” I asked her, looking through the dresses. “I’ve never really been good at this.”
“Oh, I love you. You’re like a doll I get to dress up!” She clapped her hands excitedly and I shook my head.
“Please don’t refer to me like that…it’s degrading.” I groaned.
“You know what I mean. I’ve always wanted a sister.” She smiled and I couldn’t help but smile with her. She started picking out random dresses and handing them to me. When I had a nice stack she guided me into the dressing room, and the makeover montage began…
She kept trying to put me in pink, which I kept arguing against. Pink just wasn’t my color, it suited her a lot better than me. Then, she brought me this beautiful silk navy blue dress. It had a sweetheart top and fell mid-thigh. I looked…hot. I left the fitting room and did a little spin for Christine who raised an eyebrow before a smile spread across her lips.
“Let’s not try on anymore. That’s the one.”
“I love it.” I couldn’t stop staring at my reflection. “Do you think Chad will like it?”
“If he doesn’t, I’m sure you’ll have tons of guys waiting in line…”
“Oh, what am I getting myself into?” I said, suddenly feeling very nervous. “I mean, I should be concentrating you guys, not on dating your relatives.” I pulled my glasses off and pinched the bridge of my nose, feeling the stress already. “I’m already in trouble for the whole drunk thing, I shouldn’t be doing this…” I felt Christine grab my shoulders and shake me.
“Calm down!” She laughed. “You’re freaking out for no reason! It’s just a date! You’re not getting married!” I let out a long breath and nodded.
“Thank you. You’re right, I’m overreacting. I just haven’t dated in a little while. I guess I’m nervous.” Christine rolled her eyes.

“Oh please. It’s Chad. You won’t have any problems there. He’s the most laid back guy I’ve ever met.” I nodded and looked back at the mirror, still nodding. I could do this.
“I can’t do this, Christine.” I mumbled as she fixed my hair in some type of updo, curling small tendrils that fell in my face.
“For the hundredth time, shut up Lana.” Christine snapped. “It’s just a damn date. Stop acting like you’re deciding the fate of the world.”
“If the media catches wind of me dating a member of your family, it won’t look good. No matter how distant it is.” I caught her gaze in the mirror and she shrugged.
“They won’t have a story to go on, besides the fact that you’re going on one date with him. Just don’t try any funny business in front of them and you’re safe.”
“I know the basics, Christine. This is my job, remember? I just…I can take care of anything that involved you guys. Like I said, it’s my job. I know how to counter stories, form an alibi, something of that sort. But when it’s personal,” I paused. “When it’s about me, it gets more difficult.” She gave me a thoughtful look and then spun me around to face her.
“Well, like you said, you know how to deal with the press. The hardest thing is not letting them get under your skin. Unfortunately, you’re just going to have to toughen up, love.” She gave me a hug and I let out a sigh.
“You know just what to say…” I whispered, sarcastically. She laughed in response and took my hand, leading me to the door.
“Chad should be ready soon, let’s head down. You look gorgeous.”
“Why thank you.” I said, giving her a model pose and fluttering my eyelashes. On the way down I gasped. “I forgot my purse upstairs. I’ll be down in a second.” Christine nodded and continued down while I ran back to my room. I grabbed the purse Christine had talked me into buying because “it matched just right” and started to walk back down the hall.
“Wow.” I heard a voice behind me and I turned to see Ian, leaving his room.
“Hey,” I replied, not sure what else to say. We stood in an awkward silence for a moment.
“You look great. Going on your date with Chad, I guess?” He walked toward me and I nodded.
“Yeah, I…erm…Christine dolled me up.” I wasn’t sure why I felt the need to explain to him why I was dressed up, but it just spilled out.
“Well, you look beautiful.” He was looking at me directly in the eyes and I felt myself flush nervously. “Where are you going on this date?” He pulled on one of my curls and I swatted his hand away. He smirked in response.
“He didn’t say. It’s a surprise.” I explained, glad the awkwardness had passed.
“Well, have fun.” He replied simply before yanking on another curl and walking away. I was confused by his sudden non-caring demeanor. I also realized that I didn’t like it. I wanted him to care. Why did I want him to care?
I walked back downstairs and heard a low whistle from Chad as I descended. He was standing at the bottom looking quite debonair in his black dress shirt and pants. A wide smile was set on his lips and he extended out a hand for me when I got closer.

“Look at you.” He spun me around and gave a shake of his head. “Look at you…” he repeated, and our gazes locked. It was surprising, the intensity of his gaze.
“She’s a little busy looking at you.” Christine interrupted. “Hurry up you two, go on.” She started shoving us out the door. We walked out to the car and Chad opened my door for me before going into the driver’s side.
“So, where are we going?” I asked and he gave me a smirk. “That’s not an answer.” I poked his shoulder and he laughed.
“You will see. Don’t worry. You said to make this the best date ever. I’m just hoping it can live up to that.”
“It better or you will face the consequences.” I threatened and he was fighting laughter.
“I’m already on your list, it gets better?” he teased and I smacked his arm.
“Don’t be a smart ass.”
“You’re just upset because I’m adorable and you have to fight not to like me.” I narrowed my eyes and didn’t answer. Mostly because he was right…
We started off with dinner, which was mostly embarrassing because he chose an Italian restaurant. I am not known for my amazing pasta eating skills. Dinner was spent with him laughing every time I looked goofy while eating, which was the majority of it.
The restaurant was amazing though. I could tell you had to drop a name to even get in here, let alone a great table like ours. Seeing as he was related to the royal family and pretty much a celebrity himself, I was guessing that was no problem for him at all. The date was starting off well from where I could see. Normal, but well…
The paparazzi were another story entirely. I wondered if they had tracking devices on all of us so that they always knew where we were going at all times.
We climbed back in the car and drove off farther into the city. “Where are we going now?” I asked, and Chad merely smiled.
“You need to stop asking, and just enjoy the night, love.” One of his hands came to rest on my thigh and I jumped. “Stop being so nervous, and just let me woo you.” He gave my thigh a squeeze before returning it to the stick shift. I let out a sigh.
“You’re still on my list…” I grumbled, but he must’ve heard me because he started to chuckle.
The second stop was another very fancy restaurant where we only had dessert. “I know what this is now…” I mumbled as I stuck another chunk of the most delicious chocolate cake I had ever had into my mouth.
“What is this, dare I ask?” Chad asked, enjoying his hot fudge sundae slowly. I had to admit that watching that spoon go in and out of his mouth drew my attention right to his lips, which was extra distracting.
“You’re fattening me up. You’re going to eat me.” I said in complete seriousness and he stared at me for a moment, speechless, before bursting into laughter. People around us jumped and looked in shock before turning away, whispering at our rude behavior. I merely rolled my eyes. Oh how people overreact…
“That’s right.” He leaned over the table, toward me. “I bet you’ll be delicious.” He licked his lips seductively and I looked away, clearing my throat.
“Don’t be ridiculous, I’m in politics. I taste bitter.” I joked. I felt him lift my chin with a finger to meet his eyes.
“I bet your sweet, like chocolate.” He smiled and I felt a small chill run down my spine. Not a creepy one, but a nervously excited one. This guy radiated sexiness and it made me feel very vulnerable and unsure of myself.
We were in the car again, heading to what Chad told me was the final stop of the night. We stopped when we reached some type of concert hall and I turned to Chad with wide eyes. “Where are we?” I asked, pressing my face against the window. Chad laughed and pulled up to the valet, who opened my door for me. I looked up and felt suddenly short of breath. “You didn’t…” I gasped, not looking away from the bright lights of the sign above the concert hall.
Joshua Bell : Romance of the Violin
“I asked for some tips from Ian.” Chad admitted, and I felt him take my arm. “He said you like the violin, and I figured this would be a good place to end our night.” I spun to face him.
“Ian said what?” I couldn’t believe he had remembered that.
“I figured if you liked the violin that I should check it out with you. I used to dabble on piano and I think I could like classical music if I gave it a try. I mean, it’s more of Ian’s thing, but…” Chad continued and pulled me along toward the hall. I was even more surprised when we didn’t have to wait in the long line and were just ushered right in.
“Wait, Ian likes classical music?” I asked, shocked.
“Loves it, actually. He told me about this concert tonight. Said Joshua Bell’s a great violinist and I should take you to see him.”
I couldn’t believe it. That jerk had done something sweet again. When I got my hands on him…
‘You’ll hold him close and…’
I stopped my thought track right there and looked back at Chad. Sexy, charmingly sweet Chad. Why is it, that on a date with such a miraculous guy, I was thinking of Ian? Ian, the pompous, self-centered, arrogant prince, who I would never even have a chance with…I felt a pang in my chest and let out a sigh.
“Do you not like Joshua Bell?” Chad asked, suddenly. He looked worried. I smiled and his face relaxed.
“I love Joshua Bell. I was just in shock. Thank you so much for this.” I leaned forward to peck his cheek and he turned and gave me a short kiss on the lips.
“Your welcome.” He whispered back huskily before dragging me to my seat. I blinked in shock and touched my lips dreamily. After my head cleared, I shook my head.
I had been at the castle less than a week and it was already the craziest adventure of my life. I feared for what else was in store for me…

Chapters released Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12:30 Warning: After Chapter 11, the MC undergoes a significant change of class and race. This is due to a couple of factors. The first is that when the MC was created, James didn't know what he was doing, so he picked what he thought would work. The second reason is that he had access to more information to game the system a little. The premise is like when you buy a new video game and decide to play it without RTFM. After creating a great character and making it to the end of the first act, you realize that, although your character may be kewl, it is gimped and will not survive until the end of the game. Going back to the start, you create a new character with the knowledge you gained from playing the game and perhaps, peeking at the manual.

One Piece: The Elder Twin
(Previously known as Being Luffy isn't Lucky) An utterly random person comes to their senses to find out that they're being dangled by their legs, not to mention that they feel some slight vertigo. Upon realisation, they discover that they've become... ahem, I mean they share a body with the one known as Monkey D. Luffy and they also have no idea who they are themselves! The one thing they do know? They used to be an absolute loner. (EDIT: So... a few months later and I come back to this and read like a few chapters. Only to realize the absolute rubbish the story and everything has become. There was many needlessly developed things that just waste chapters and don't even develop anything. The fiction's Mary Sue was horrendously developed. I'm just repeating myself to try and convey how terrible it developed... like seriously. IF I were to update the fiction again I would be thinking of improved concepts and ways to present everything which would contradict the entire way I previously presented everything.)
