《Fawn In The Dawn | Peeta Mellark》five

The sounds echoed throughout the cell anytime anything happened. And when that door opened today, my heart was racing. Peeta stared over at me as the peacekeepers unlocked my cell door. "It'll be okay." He mouthed to me. I hoped it would, but I was terrified. And I was more terrified to leave the group, than I was for my safety. But Peeta was right, this was the only way to get them help.

"I love you." I mouthed back and he smiled. I memorized the way his lips curled up, for this could be the last time I see him for a while. I just kept onto the hope that I will see him again.

The two men lifted me to my feet and led me out. I looked back at who I was leaving behind. If this was a good thing, then why did I feel so shitty? The door closed behind us just as I got one last look at Peeta, who smiled over toward me, and I found myself walking down that familiar white hall. I was again, shoved into the room where lights beamed onto me once more.

"Hello, Arizona." Snow's voice rang.

"I'll do it." I interrupted.

Silence, it was almost deafening and then a loud buzzer went off, where another peacekeeper came in, and took me out of the room. "Where's Jackson?" I asked, realizing I probably shouldn't have.

"Shut up, tribute." He demanded and I complied. I was shoved into another room where a long black dress hung across from me. "Change. Someone will fetch you in five minutes." He demanded, and left. I heard his footsteps walk away as I tried the door, realizing it was locked. Well, of course, why wouldn't it be? I walked over to the dress, figuring the least I could do was change so I'm not stuck in this disgusting gown I've been wearing for weeks. I quickly ripped it off and slipped the dress on over my head when the door unlocked and opened, it revealed Jack.

"Come on." He said, refusing to remove his eyes from the hall, checking to make sure no one was coming. I followed him, noticing a peacekeepers body lying on the ground nearby, broken neck and all, glancing back to Jack, I realized he had done this. But he had to, for my sake.

He led me through a door I had never been through before, which led to a stairwell. Our feet carried us swiftly down the staircase, as quickly as they possibly could. Another door labeled 6 appeared. "Go." He said, stopping into a quick halt.

"You're not coming?" I asked, confused.

"I can't, A. I'll reach out to you when I can. There will be a woman waiting for you at the end of that hall behind a door. From there she will lead you to a hatch in the ground, you'll follow the red lit up lights. There, you'll find a ladder, climb and don't stop until you reach the outside where a plane waits for you. From there, you'll be safe." He assured me. "Now go!" I nodded, beginning through the door, and then stopping. I turned to him again, and jumped up, in a tight hug.

"Thank you, J. You have no idea how much this means to me." I said, quietly. I felt him nod, and then I let go, turning back around and rushing through the door.

At the end of the hall, I opened the door to see a tall, thin woman. She didn't say anything to me, only expected me to follow, so I did. We walked for what felt like hours until finally reaching the hatch buried under leaves and rubble. She lifted it up and I dropped down. Suddenly, a loud alarm rang out and I realized I needed to hurry. I looked down and ahead of me to see the red lights and I ran, following them around a few bends until I noticed the ladder. I climbed up and came through the dirt, where I was face to face with a man. A plane was just about a yard away. He grabbed my hand, pulling me through the hole and to my feet. We ran to the plane and I took one glance behind me, noticing the Capitol was above us a few miles back. Red lights were flashing and I knew they knew I had escaped. He helped me up into the plane and then jumped up behind me, closing the plane door.

I was finally getting out of here, but empty handed. And I felt wrong, this all felt terribly wrong.
