《Unknown》Fifteen: Coffee, tea, poison?

Caspars POV:

"You have one new message from today at 4:18pm." I held my phone against my ear, listening to the latest message from someone I call my friend, now even the Harries are having a go at me, not that they're the first ones.

I began to think of the endless amounts of messages everyone's been sending me today, firstly there was Zoe whose messages consisted of yelling and abuse. Then Alfie who demanded the information and plan I had made for him, then Joe who wants to know what's happened and why I would do such a thing.

Now, there's only one person phoning me, an unknown number, either this is the call I've been hoping for, or its more abuse. I press the green button and place the phone back against my ear. "Hello?" I asked nervously, feeling my heart beat intensifying in case I'm right about who it is.

"Caspar, this is Ali. As in Ali the friend you betrayed and good luck getting your so called plan back. I never want to hear from you again." She sounded as if she was barely holding it together.

It's all my fault.

She hung up before I had the opportunity to explain, tell her the truth. The real truth not just what I wanted them to think.

All I wanted to do was tell the truth to them, let Ali know that the plan I made was fake. That I had only came up with that to please Alfie and get him to leave her alone, now I'm trapped and everyone hates me.

As I pace around my hotel room with my phone in my hand I cannot think of a logical solution, maybe it's best if I speak to everyone in person, I know that'll have the best chance of getting everyone back.

I dial my phone once again and call for a taxi to come to the hotel, I quickly change into something less pyjamaery and leave. After a short wait the taxi arrives and takes me away from my land of isolation.

Flashback:

"Come on Caspar, we've got to get going today's Ali's only few days off and I want to pay her a visit." Joe demanded of me as he put his coat on, I tried to seem like this wasn't bothering me in the slightest, but honestly I couldn't wait to see Ali.

How I've missed her.

As we got to the train station and got through the usual procedure Joe kept going on about what Ali's been doing, that she has been getting to work with penguins when she can and that the cats are amazing, and she had been so happy.

All of Joes talk on Ali did make me happy but there was a thought that remained stationary in my mind, what do we do about the Alfie thing?

"Oh and Zoe and Alfie are coming too so it's like a family gathering with two extras." Joe said and I snapped out of my thoughts, looks like this may be more complicated than I thought it would be.

How is Ali supposed to stay calm if he's there, and how can we talk about him if he, Zoe and Joe are all there at once?

Once we arrive the air smells different, more fresh which is probably true considering all of the traffic and everything there is in London, it's good to get away from it, and have a chance to see my favourite Sugg, but don't let Joe know that.

Joes phone rings and he picks it up straight away and leaves me standing there with the luggage for a minute, I can vaguely hear him having a conversation with someone and he looks happy.... Something's up.

Once Joe comes back over he takes his bag and leads the way to where Ali presumably is, as we walk down the few flights of cramped stairs we get out of the train station and are greeted by many many taxis and lots of people greeting everyone.

I take a moment to look around, see all of the couples who run up and greet each other with smiles as big as most of their suitcases and bags, how they stand there for ages just hugging, as if no words have to be exchanged, it's all through emotion.

"CASPAR!" I turn to see someone running at me and then before I know it something has grabbed tightly onto me. Lavender, the smell I know very well, the blonde hair in the usual natural mess, the tight hug which I don't want to end, Ali.

"Hey Ali, missed me much." I say as she pulls away, leaving me feeling vacant and cold without her, even though she's stood right in front of me.

Those dark ivy eyes, still have some warmth in amongst the cold colours, how they have specks of Hazel in them, which brighten up her face even more so than it already is with her rosy tinted cheeks.

"Just a bit." She said acting shy as Joe just stood there waiting.

"Sup Broseph." She said giving him a hug and I take Joes luggage from him so he can actually hug his sister, as opposed to standing there.

"Sup Sali." He said and they both smiled to themselves, these Suggs and their ridiculous jokes they have.

As I stand there holding onto the all stuff we brought and realising how half of this stuff we don't actually need. Like the three pairs of summer shorts I've brought and now the forecast is heavy rain for the days we're here, so much for summer.

"Casp, at least give me something to take a hold of so I don't look like I'm being impolite." She chuckled, brushing her hand against mine as she takes one of the bags, not even making eye contact with me, this is a strong hold she has over me.

Once we get to her car Ali helps us put the stuff into the boot and we climb in, Joe got to be in the front so he could update Ali on everything that has been happening since she doesn't have social media she can't check unless it's through a phone call which happens rarely now a days.

Even though she was concentrating hard on the road ahead of her with the occasional glance to Joe and smiled to him she looked happy, naturally happy; not as if she was faking it like you see far too often now, she was glad to have this chance to just catch up with him.

I looked up to the mirror not even concentrating when Alis eyes appeared and she wiggles her eyebrows at me, the next minute I know we're having an eyebrow dance contest, like the two children on the Cadburys advert, except she broke off the fun when she remembered she was driving. At least we didn't crash.

Almost.

A phone begins to ring and it's a very loud Bastille song playing. "Caspar can you see who that is for me? It's just in my bag." I glanced down next to me and entered a brave new and unknown world, a girls handbag. After a tiresome search I found her phone and saw it was Zoe, she told me to answer it and pass it to Joe.

"Hey Zoe!" Ali said happily, leaving out Alfie intentionally.

"Hi Ali, we'll be another hour or so, Alfie's been delayed for some reason but do you need anything from the shops on route to you?" Zoe asked, I wonder what's keeping Alfie?

Maybe a certain blonde who happens to be dating his best friend? Maybe.

The siblings continue their conversation and Ali remains perfectly calm, even though I can sense she's upset or paranoid, it's the look she gives me in the mirror that Joe can't see, the look of fear of in the inevitable. I can't blame Ali for worrying, considering we have to act like everything's perfectly normal and not that we both know Alfie is a lying cheating scumbag who deserves to be knocked back a few steps, so acting perfectly normal may be a bit of a difficulty.

By the time we get back to Ali's apartment she is exhausted, she opens the door and shows us to where we'll be staying, since her room mate Jess is away that room is made up for a guest bedroom next door to Alis room and then there is the sofa bed and another spare room for Zoe and Alfie.

"I'll sleep on the sofa bed." Joe volunteers, "I know how you like your sleep mate." He pats my shoulder in consideration and I smile to him.

Now I'll be able to see Ali and speak to her if necessary which will probably happen considering we have a short space of time before they arrive.

Joe wonders off to make Ali a cup of tea whilst she takes our stuff up stairs, I kindly offer to help her and she gladly accepts.

"Listen, we have to talk about the thing." I point out, resulting in her to freeze half way up the stairs, it took her a moment to process what I said before she returns to her normal state.

"We don't have much time." She glanced around and looked over the banister to see where Joe was then popped her head back around. "Follow me." Ali grabbed a hold of my hand tightly and took me to a room, shutting the door behind her.

The room itself was cosy, but not completely cramped. All of the walls were painted the same shade of lavender filled with various photos or posters and white shelves filled with rows upon rows of trinkets, films and books, matching furniture followed as I glanced to the desk filled with bits and pieces. Placed in the centre of the room a large bed with floral bedding and blankets where Ali sat cross legged staring at the ground. "Your room I'm guessing?" I spoke up first, hoping to receive an actual response, but I was disheartened when she simply nodded.

I moved closer towards her and sat next to her on the bed, although her focus didn't alter from the floor. All I wanted to do was hug her, but not like the typical hug she would normally get a more sincere hug, one that's more meaningful and one that would make her feel better, but I can't. I don't have it in me to ruin our friendship which I treasure dearly, if only she knew.

"Hey, cheer up, your favourite South African is in your house." I nudged her lightly so she would at least smile at my joke, which was a success.

Ali looked up to me, she tucked her hair behind her ear and a tear fell from her left eye, I moved closer to her and wiped away the tears that continuously fell. As I sat inches away from her face I knew I could kiss her, those rose pink lips that seemed to be calling my name, drawing me closer like a magnet, yet once the tears are gone she turns away. The moment was over, like my chances of ever being with her.

"I want to tell Zoe." Ali finally spoke up but remained in hushed tones.

"If that's what you want to do I'm all for helping you." I told her and we shared a small hug then I left her room giving her a minute to freshen up.

As I stood in the doorway she glanced up smiling to me, "I'm fine Casp." If only that were true, then I closed the door.

Heading downstairs I could hear Joe singing to himself as he passed me a drink, he looked to the door to see someone there and rushed over to open it.

There they were, one of the most well known and shipped couples on YouTube, in their finest hour, if only they knew.

"Jozeebo!" Zoe laughed hugging her brother whilst Alfie spotted me and came over, grinning like his usual self. Leaving Joe and Zoe to have a sibling moment to themselves.

"Hey Caspar, you alright mate?" He was energetic and cheerful as he always is, this guys good at convincing everyone everything's okay.

"I'm good Alf, do you want a drink at all? I'm sure Joe will get you one I'll just take your bags upstairs." I smiled politely and took his and Zoe's belongings.

Once I had put them in the bedroom ready made for them I knocked on Alis door and opened it, then heard a yell and shut it once again rather quickly. A moment later a rather angry Ali appeared. "Caspar! I was changing my top! Always, always knock loudly first!" She said in an irritated hushed tone. Her eyes were filled with fire, yet they quickly softened back to the dark green and warmth they usually were.

"I just came to say everyone's here that's all." I suddenly became rather shy, unbeknown why Ali rolled her eyes and straightened herself up and plastered on a smile.

"How do I look?" She asked posing and did a twirl for me, chuckling slightly when she nearly tripped during her inelegant twirl.

"Beautiful." The word just came out without being processed first, she blushed brightly and went straight downstairs without another word being said.

As her usual self she greets her family with open arms and is polite, she hugs Alfie like always but appears hesitant at first and gives me a look of worry. After a while we all get into the usual conversations, Zoe and Alfie tell Ali more about their latest project whilst Nala runs around like crazy. Joe adds the occasional comment on plans.

"Nala, come here girl." Ali happily says as Nala approaches her and jumps onto her lap, giving her a hug. "Should we watch a film?" Ali suggests looking around to everyone.

Everyone is in a mutual agreement and we decide to watch a horror movie to Ali's dismay. Zoe picks out the conjuring and we all sit with blankets and popcorn. Looking over to Zoe and Alfie it shocks me how he is sat there, hugging her and she has no idea, how his conscience doesn't eat away at him for what he's done.

"Excuse me a minute, I hate this part." Ali says trembling and walks out, all of our eyes follow her for a moment but Alfie's remain on her at all times. After a few more minutes once the scene is over I decide to sneak on out and find where Ali disappeared to.

When I had looked through all of the downstairs I headed upstairs in the dark holding my phone for light when a pair of hands grabbed my shirt an pulled me into a room. The light was switched on and Ali was stood inches away from me smiling. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!" I whisper yelled to her.

"That's what you get for earlier." She joked sticking her tongue out at me.

"Why didn't you come back?" I asked concerned as we went to sit down.

"As I knew you would be the first one to come and check if I was okay once I was gone long enough." She said shyly, playing with the hem on her shirt.

"Why me?" I asked out of curiosity, we both know it's true though.

"Cause you care about me, you're one of my best friends." And I've been friend zoned, there goes my chances of this ever happening.

Choosing to move the conversation away from the topic of the 'us' that will never happen and moved onto the more crucial topic, Alfie.

"Are you going to tell her?" I speak up hoping that she will, and I'll help her get through this.

She nods and proceeds to walk around the small space in her room. "If I don't this will only escalate and get worse, if I don't tell Zoe whilst she's hear who knows what he will do next with her? What if him and what's her face Niomi meet again? And we are powerless against them?!" She raises her voice now and then there's a creak in a floorboard, she signals for me to remain silent and I do so without hesitation.

As she moves closer to the doorway we both see the one person we wished wasn't there, Alfie.

"Hey guys, Zoe wants to know if you want anything to drink? Coffee, tea, poison?" He asks and me and Ali look to each other, she's scared. Alfie laughs to himself. "Oh that last one was just a joke guys, lighten up." He smiles and heads back downstairs.

Once we both know he's gone Ali freaks out, she begins to panic and shake so I run up to her and hold her close, not caring anymore she needs this. Ali tightly grips onto me and there's no sign of either of us letting go.

A long period of time past by the time we finally let go, and Ali rubbed her eyes. "I'm really tired Caspar, I think I'm going to sleep, I'll think more clearly about this in the morning." She looked so beautiful, even though her makeup had run and she was so tired she could barely stand up straight, I care for her regardless.

"Okay Ali, good night." I slowly shut the door getting one last glimpse at her before things get worse, before she gets even more scared or worried.

Turning around once the door was closed I saw Alfie leaning against his doorframe, he stood up right and walked towards me. "Well well Caspar, aren't you two getting cosy?" He said in a very serious and in Alfie like voice.

I took a minute to reply, not wanting to seem too defensive about this. "She's my friend that's all." I played it off cool, acting like I barely cared.

"Listen here mate, I know what you know and I need your help. If you refuse to help me then things will only get worse and very painful for your dear Alison, agree?" He began to smirk.

"If you ever hurt her!" I threatened him, yet he seemed to take it as a compliment.

"If you agree to helping me, then there will never me a problem." He acted as if he knew what would happen, and this left me with no choice.

"Deal."

End of flashback.

Ever since that day all I've done is for her, it may seem bad that I've gone against her but if only she knew. At first I had no idea what I was in for, he had me doing small tasks for him like taking Zoe out for days or faking events for Alfie to cover up where he really was all along, with Niomi. Apparently Marcus was none the wiser, Niomi always had meeting so she just lied to him, I wasn't connected to her side of the job in anyway.

Now since Ali has been crushed I have no choice but to face Alfie, which won't end well I know it, but since I'm still apart of his plan I don't want to go against him, I can't bare the thought of him hurting Ali in anyway further than he has already done. I rang him from my hotel room and he answered on the second ring. "At the beach. Meet me in twenty." Then he hung the phone up on me, I gathered my things and got a taxi to the beach, after a long time of pacing and trying to spot him, he sat there looking deep in thought. No matter how badly I don't want to disturb his thoughts I have no choice.

This is all for Ali.

Alfie notices me and smiles, "Hey Caspar." He says in his usual voice, one I haven't heard in a long time.

"Hi Alfie." He may not be nervous but that doesn't mean I can't be, I wait for him to make his next move or inform me of my next task, but he says nothing. Instead he circles me silently.

"I've got you a present." He stood in front of me and I felt tense, what sort of present does he mean? Financial? "Hold out your hands." He grinned to me, making me anxious.

I obeyed his command and placed in my hands were a destroyed phone and the pieces of it, I raised an eyebrow to him completely confused. "What's this?" I was completely dumbfounded by this, then it suddenly clicked.

"Now before you say anything or do anything you may regret, I'm letting you go." He said sitting back down, my eyes widened in shock, I was free?

"Excuse me?" I ask completely bewildered by this proposition.

"You're no longer of use to me, for now anyway, Ali has gone home afraid and vulnerable and hates your guts, therefore you don't have to care for her and you aren't useful to me." He explains in a monotone way, as if I had to be told like a child.

Alfie walked off after that, leaving me with a few potential options.

1. Find Alfie. Demand him to let me keep Ali safe.

2. Go see Ali, check she's safe and

tell her the truth.

3. See the other Suggs and tell them instead.

Option three seems more viable right now considering its my closet choice, although they may hate me, what've I got to lose?
