《Philocaly | DNF》37 - temporary goodbyes

Dream got about one hour of sleep that same night.

Today Sapnap and George were leaving him.

After today, he'd be alone without the people he cares about the most.

Of course, he'd see them again, but that date was not anytime soon.

It hurt knowing it would be so long, although staying up late playing Minecraft with each other and syncing sleep schedules didn't sound half bad.

Dream had no idea George would be coming to Florida just for confessions, feelings and truthful words to be shared with one another, he never expected to be constantly teased by Sapnap and eventually telling him everything.

After his hour of sleep, Dream woke up with a painful throb in his head.

He brought his hand up to his head as the rest of his body rose from under the bedsheets and blankets to stumble over to the drawers in his desk.

As he fumbled through the drawer, a light knock appeared on the door.

"Yeah?" He muttered, still looking for the Ibuprofen.

The door quietly opened as Dream turned around, his hand still rested on his forehead in pain.

George stood silently at the door, completely dressed and ready to leave with a backpack around his shoulders.

Dreams lips parted as he brought his hand down.

"You forgot?" George asked, tilting his head slightly.

"Oh shit." Dream replied, looking to the alarm clock.

George couldn't help but let out a small chuckle, tightening his hand around his backpack strap.

"Hurry and get dressed, I've got a plane to catch."

———

"That's the last one." Sapnap informed Dream as he placed the last suitcase into the trunk.

Dream slammed the trunk shut, Sapnap climbing into the backseat.

Dream walked around his car, leaning on the front of it and waiting for the front door to swing open to announce George's presence once again.

Only a minute after, the door flung open to reveal a still exhausted George. He quickly shut the door behind him, jogging down the two stair steps that rested against the patio.

He locked his eyes with Dreams, forcing a smile and climbing into the car.

Dream sighed, then following his lead to climb into the car.

As the car started, only silence occurred.

Not even Sapnap knew what was right to say.

Eventually, the three internally agreed silence was the best option right now.

The drive to the airport was painfully quick. Dream didn't realize that what was happening was real until they entered the airports front doors.

Sapnap glanced at his watch, eyeing the other two.

"My flight is taking off very shortly, so if I wanna be nice and early I gotta go like, now."

Dream pressed both his lips together, watching as Sapnap pulled George in for a tight and comforting hug.

The two shared a small conversation in the hug, something Sapnap said causing George to chuckle.

Afterwards, Sapnap pulled away and collapsed into Dreams arms for a hug.

Dream rested his chin onto Sapnaps shoulder, wanting to cry. This is not what he wanted at all.

He wanted anything than to separate.

"Clay," Sapnap whispered.

"What?" Dream whispered in response.

"As soon as I land, I'm calling you. Got it?"

"Of course."

They pulled away, exchanging last smiles.

"I'm gonna miss you guys a lot. This whole trip was fun as hell, even though you guys were clueless most the time."

George and Dream both laughed, but it was genuine and wasn't forceful.

"Trust me, Dude, we're gonna miss you too." Dream added.

Something came loud onto the speakers, distracting the boys.

"That's my cue. Until next time!"

Sapnap grinned widely before turning and jogging into the furthest direction in front of his gateway.

George and Dream watched him until he was completely gone.

George released a small huff, turning his attention back to Dream.

"We should.. probably start walking towards my area. Yeah?"

"Yeah. We should do that."

They locked eyes for a moment longer.

George moved his body closer to Dreams, their hands brushing against each other's briefly.

George tilted his head up to face Dream, connecting their pinkies together.

"Walk with me."

Dream obeyed as they started walking together side by side, inching closer and closer together progressively.

When they arrived at George's gate, Dream immediately took notice that people had already started boarding.

George felt small tears form in the corners of his eyes, but he refused to cry in front of Dream like he had before.

He quickly turned around, Dream wasn't looking to him back.

Dream was looking everywhere else as their pinkies disconnected.

"Clay."

Dream still couldn't look at him.

"Clay."

"George, their boarding. You should go."

George bit the corner of his bottom lip, turning his head for a moment to the flight attendant.

"You know everything I've ever told you hasn't been a lie. I'm keeping my promises for everything I've told you. Okay? I promise. I promise promise promise."

Dream nodded, a smiley smirk forming.

"So you promise you love me?"

George scoffed.

"You are an absolute idiot. Did it seem like I was joking?"

Dream playfully hit George's shoulder, his feet nearly stumbling.

"And you also promise you'll talk to your family?"

"Yes, Clay."

"And you promise you'll call when you get back?"

"Y-"

"And you promise to ignore Karl if he brings up what happened at the beach house?"

"Well, depends on which part."

"Hey!"

"I'm joking."

The speaker interrupted them again, with a final announcement.

"Shoot, I gotta go. Uh, Dream?"

"Yeah?"

A pair of lips brushed against Dreams ear as he pulled him in for a tight hug. A last hug before he would leave.

"Thank you for everything."

Dream was about to say something when a pair of lips connected with his cheek.

A wave of blush flew over Dream as George pulled away, running his hands through Dreams hair.

"I love you, George."

George raised his eyebrows, but he couldn't help but smile.

This is the softest he had ever seen Dream.

"You know how I feel about you, Clay. This is how I have always felt around you."

One last look, then George turned around. Dream watched as he slowly and peacefully walked over to the flight attendant, handing her the ticket and not looking back.

Dreams fists clenched, his knuckles turning white as he begged himself internally to not cry.

Don't cry you pussy. You'll be talking again in hours from now.

A tear fell from his right eye, but it was immediately wiped away with a soft hand.

He didn't know how, but he felt himself turning around with a smile plastered across his face.
