Cali's P.O.V
I wake up to the sound of my radio playing one of my favorite songs.
(Radio:Grease is the word is the word,is the word that you heard. It's got a groove it's got a meaning.Grease is the time is the place is the motion.Grease is the way we are feeling.)
I turn off the radio and I go to the kitchen eating a bagel.I then go back to my bedroom.
I put on my outfit for the day and put on my make up.
Afterwards I brush my hair and I style it to what I like.
As I put some of my lemon verbena perfume I see my older sister Betty Rizzo look into my bedroom.
Riz:Hey Caliatra.Wearing makeup now?.
Calia:Well ma did say I can when I joined highschool."Smiles".
Riz:The girls will be here soon.Marty and Jan are coming.Frenchy said she's getting a ride from her folks. You coming?.
Calia:Doody is walking me to school today.
Riz:Why is Doody walking you to school?.
Calia:No need to get overprotective he's just a friend.
Riz:Right."Draws out I".
Calia:Betty he is.What happened this summer with us hooking up was a one time thing.Hes got his eyes on a girl and I'm helping him get the girl."Smiles".Playing matchmaker is fun.
Riz:That matchmaker thing makes you sound like Frenchy.
Calia:"Chuckles".
I grab my school books and I go to the living room with Betty and we see our mom who smiles at us.
Meg:Awe there are my girls. Betty Blair Meg and Caliatra Jolene Victoria."Smiles".You girls have a great day at school.
Betty,Calia:Thanks mother.
I say my goodbyes and I leave the house to see Doody walking down the street.

Calia:Good morning Anthony."Smiles".
Doody:Good morning Caliatra.
Doody:Wearing make up?.
Calia:Had to grow up sometime.
Doody laughs and we continue talking as we walk to the highschool. When we get there we see Putzie and Sonny and we hear whistles when a lot of the guys at the highschool see me.
Sonny:Woah Caliatra Rizzo wearing makeup and a biker chick outfit?.
Calia:Yeah.Have a problem with that Sonny?.
Sonny:Nope.
Putzie:Hey little Rizzo.
Calia:Hey Putzie.
Doody takes Sonny's paper bag out of his hands and throws it to Putzie. Then Putzie throws it back to Doody and then falls in a bush which I laugh at.
Doody:You don't eat this you bury it.
Sonny:"Takes it".That's a homemade lunch.
Putzie:Your old lady drag her carcass out of bed for you?.
Sonny:She does it first day of school.
That's when we see Kenickie.
Putzie:Kenickie over here.
Kenickie:Where you at?.
Doody:We're right here.
Putzie:Where were you all summer?.
Kenickie:What're you my mother?.
Calia:"Chuckles".
Putzie:Just asking.
Kenickie:I was working which is more than you kids can say.
Sonny:Working?.
Kenickie:That's right I was lugging boxes at Bargain City Moron.
Sonny:"Mockingly".Nice job.
Doody:Eat me.
Kenickie:"Hits him".I'm saving up to get me some wheels.
Putzie:Wanna hear what I did?.
Kenickie:No.
Calia:Hey Kenickie."Smiles".
Kenickie:Cali I could hardly recognize you with the make up.
Calia:Haha very funny.
I playfully punch Kenickie's shoulder and he laughs. Kenickie has been an older brother figure since we met.
Doody:Hey there's Danny.
The boys all greet Danny.
Kenickie:You see any new broads over there?.
Danny:Nah same old chicks everybody's made them.
Doody:Hey uh so what'd you do all summer Danny huh?.

Danny:I was hanging around at the beach. You know.
Sonny:It's tough with all those chicks hanging around you.
Calia:The only thing that hangs around you Sonny are the flies.
The guys laugh at my teasing.
Kenickie:How was the action at the beach man?.
Danny:Whew.It was flipping.
Kenickie:Yeah?.Crazy?.
Danny:I did meet this one chick. She was sorta cool.
Sonny:You mean she puts out?.
Danny:Come on Sonny is that all you ever think about?.
Sonny:Freakin A."Puts on sunglasses".
The bell rings and we all head for the door leaving Sonny in the back of us.
Sonny:Hey guys wait up!.
I go to my locker and I put a photo of Me,Betty and our parents inside and then photos of Me,Betty and the Pink Ladies and then Me and the T-Birds.Afterwards I go to class and sit down not seeing any of my friends.
🎶As I go travelling down
life's highway.Whatever course my fortunes
may foretell.🎶
(Intercom:"Chimes".)
(
McGee:Good morning boys and girls.Welcome to what we're sure will be
our greatest year at Rydell.Saturday night will be our first pep rally and bonfire.I want to see all of you students out there with plenty of support for Coach Calhoun and the Rydell Rangers. If you can't be an athlete be an athletic supporter. And now for the really good news. One of the most exciting things to ever happen at Rydell High.National Bandstand television show has selected Rydell as a representative American high school and will do a live broadcast from our very own gym.)
All the classrooms cheer.
(McGee:It is our chance to show the entire nation what fine, bright, clean cut, wholesome students we have here at Rydell.)
*Time Lapse*
I take my lunch and i sit down at a table and I see my friends Stephanie and Paulette walk over and sit down.
Stephanie:Hey Cali.Finally wearing makeup.
Calia:Well we are finally in highschool so I can."Smiles".
Paulette:You look stunning Caliatra.
Calia:Thank you Paulette."Smiles".
Paulette:Did you guys see Johnny?.
Calia:No.
Stephanie:He's probably hanging with Goose and Louis.
Paulette:How's your sister Cali?.
Calia:She's fine last I knew.Shes happy she's a senior now so she can finish this year and get away from this dump.
Stephanie:I would be happy too.
Paulette:I'm gonna go see how Sharon and Rhonda are doing.
Calia,Stephanie:Okay.
Paulette gets up and walks away to see her other friends.
Stephanie:So I didn't say anything to Paulette about your summer thing.
Calia:Good cause i wouldn't want the news going around the school.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

Sleeping Through the Apocalypse
Our 'valiant hero' Mark just finished a 72-hour VRMMO marathon and passed out as soon as he reached his goal. His rest is disturbed by patch notes, but he sleeps as the world he knows ends, and a terrifying game begins. Join Mark as he discovers the wonders and horrors of the new world that awaits him. This is 'realistic' and chaotic. There is cursing and gore. I do my best to imagine how a person would actually handle the apocalypse, and the answer is "not well."

The Blue Tower
When I heard a soft, and gentle voice, asking me if I'd like to go to a new world, far away from here... I didn't even think twice about it. My life on Earth could hardly have been any worse, right then - and the chance to start back over was more than I could have dreamed of. But now that I'm here, I'm starting to discover that this new world is really nothing like what I had been expecting. Right now, I'm all alone, in the middle of a huge, and darkened forest, with nobody to tell me where to go, or what to do next. And somewhere, far off in the distance... I can hear something huge, and strong, moving slowly through the woods. Before, I was hoping to get the chance to start my life up all over again. But now, I'm just hoping to make it safely through the night. Maybe once I achieve that, then I can finally start to think about what's going on... ... and then, maybe, I can figure out just why it was that I was brought here, exactly - and just what sort of a world it is that I've arrived in.

Avine: The Journey
Avine, the name recorded in the oldest records of faith concerning the creation of the world. The lands of Avine are in turmoil. A lengthy war recently ended. Casualties were terrible, but not limited to the dead alone. Breakdowns occurred in society, and kingdoms struggled with civil unrest and a never-ending stream of refugees. Mariel Bluegale has lived a relatively uneventful life. Largely sheltered from prejudice by her parents Serin and Arwaro, she grew up in a kingdom that prospered thanks to its strictly neutral policy. But the winds of war are once more on the horizon. Peace is merely the prelude to a new, even bigger conflict, one which may be decided on the identity of one. Release schedule: One chapter a week for the forseeable future. Reality caught up with me, this means I have to scale back my writing time considerably. I promise to finish it, but it will be in pieces, and likely around holidays. As always, any -painful- errors (spelling, flow, consistency or time) please let me know.
