《Captured By The King》Twenty-three • Sincerity

The gathering between the leaders of the witches, vampires, and wolves was finally adjourned when Queen Felicity and they have agreed upon a deal. It was more like a treaty whereas she gave full access of her kingdom to the supernatural creatures even if it comes with the possibility that they may potentially destroy the human territory.

Alpha Lorenzo spoke no more word and spent no more second after Felicity's last word. Like a fast lightning, he changed into his gigantic black wolf form and ran out of the territory to come back to his pack and lead.

His transformation left Queen Felicity in awe while it only looked as a sense of pride for the others. Then, the three sorceresses bid their goodbyes to Felicity, promising that they would often visit her and still help her with fighting skills.

It wasn't clear whether everyone's happy nor they were content with the agreed decision but thankfully, sighed Felicity, things between all of them were settled. However, everything was a whole lot different for Dimitrius' side.

Why didn't she choose to be with us, with me? Why would she want to be the queen of the humans if she could rule beside me? Am I not deserving of a chance as her mate? What else could I have done to convince her?

All those questions running inside his head made him disappointed and confused rather than spiteful and furious. He would never understand her choice but he did nothing but respect it.

When it was only her and Dimitrius himself left inside the room, none of them bothered to speak. Felicity kept her eyes down as if waiting for Dimitrius to stop eyeing her with an unreadable expression.

It made her feel conscious of what he might be thinking as of the moment. Even Dimitrius didn't understand the feeling that pumped through his veins, it was like a fire inside him that burned so cold.

"Will you take me there?" Felicity quietly asked. No one told her how she could get back to her kingdom, the place she knew as home. If one thing, she knew that Dimitrius would possibly be the one to take her back since he was the first one to capture her.

Dimitrius didn't speak for what seemed like a long time. Just listening to her heartbeat and unsteady breaths, trying to make him calm. Another thing that bothered him the most was the smell of her sweet addicting blood.

The wounds from her earlier fight still leaked her blood. It wasn't helping Dimitrius' hunger and Felicity sensed it. She looked at her hands that were still bruised and had red droplets on them.

She spoke again, "Dimitrius? I wouldn't mind," referring to the fact that Dimitrius himself was struggling to keep control. He wondered to himself why Odette did not give her one of the healing potions.

He stepped towards her, slowly. The loose strands of Felicity's hair that escaped her bun were the only ones between the skin of her neck and Dimitrius' mouth.

But Dimitrius didn't take any step closer. Felicity wondered why he had done that but she froze at the moment that she felt his thumb caress the part where her neck meets her shoulder.

Of course, she didn't know anything about that action but Dimitrius knew what he was holding. It's where his mark should have been placed if Felicity has accepted him as her mate. Yes, even with a mark, the pull of the mate bond wouldn't happen.

Unless Felicity ends the prophecy, destiny will never be in their fate. That did not stop Dimitrius from looking after her all these years. To him, Felicity always has and always be his other half, his soulmate.

He vowed to himself that if the day comes and Felicity proudly bears his mark, he would not only profess but act upon his undying love for her. From the child, he once carried in his arms until the woman that stands before him right now.

"W-what are you doing?" Felicity stuttered as his thumb didn't stop touching her neck. Dimitrius didn't want to drink her blood even though he needed to because he knew that if he drinks another sip, he might mark her without consent.

He sat down on the chair in front of her, still silent. Then, he asked the question he was trying to find out about himself. "Why hadn't you decided to go with me?"

Felicity knew the real answer to his question but her mind battled whether to answer him with honesty or the other way around. Little did she know, answering him with a lie wouldn't work for her. The way that her heart would beat in a different pulse would let Dimitrius hear if she was being truthful or not.

"I miss my home," she stated as part of the half-true reason. She didn't feel truly welcomed in any territory she has been. It always felt like she had to act upon their expectations of her being the fighter and the girl from the prophecy.

Not that she did not want to or that she could not but Felicity favored freedom and peace rather than living up to standards that mold her into someone that clearly she is not. This was one thing she has dealt with all her life, being a Lowell.

"The Kingdom of Lowell is not your home, Felicity. I felt it, I saw it with my own eyes. You wouldn't have said sorry for the actions that you have done to me when you had to obey your family. You wouldn't have helped the vampires who struggled to fight through their own battles under your ruthless people."

The air in the room turned from tranquil to spiteful. Dimitrius have never wanted to make it sound that way yet he did. All because he hated how Felicity thought of her kingdom as her home.

"Neither is your kingdom my home, Dimitrius. The Lowells are the one who stood as my family when I lost my own because of some prophecy that everyone of you believes. I respect it as much as the supernatural kind does but please, let me have a life that's not being held by you, by them, nor by a war that's yet to happen," Felicity argued back.

Not considering his kingdom as her home, it boiled through Dimitrius' veins. His kingdom? It was theirs, it was hers. She's the queen of not only humans but vampires. How can she not look at it as her home? He thought while clenching his fists.

Meanwhile, Felicity thought differently. Even with the attraction that she felt towards him, Dimitrius was still her captor since the day he took her from the coronation night. Felicity never wanted to be a queen to the humans and that dislike never changed even if she is yet to be queen to the vampires.

"I know that when you forgot the memories you had with your mother, taking you from your own palace, punishing your family before you, and the day that I held your life in my hands when I grabbed you by your neck, all those things would be your reasons to hate me, Felicity and every heartbeat of yours that passed by, I regretted it. I never wanted your hate, all I wanted was your acceptance yet I still failed. No matter what, I've already done it and I couldn't go back to change what I have done but it would never stop me from trying, Felicity."

His words brought all the memories she wished to forget. Felicity could not look at him in the eye because of the realizations she thought of with every single word that left Dimitrius' mouth. A week ago, she was willing to give him a chance and now, the question was, is she still taking that risk of getting to know him behind the Dimitrius she knows?

If there was one thing that not most people know about Felicity Lowell is that she believes in change. That's the only constant thing in the world, the word, change. Of course, she was willing to give her a chance because like every saying says, "All things happen for a reason." She just has to know what were his reasons.

"I appreciate your sincerity, Dimitrius. Truth is, I never wanted you to stop trying even if you knew that at some point, you've punched a hole through my heart. We're mates like you said and I like to believe that," Felicity said honestly.

Her own words gave a shock to Dimitrius. He thought that he would have to do so much more to gain the second chance he needed and wanted but he was wrong. All Felicity had to hear was how sorry he is.

That alone was enough for Felicity. When one person acknowledges their mistake and is humble enough to ask for forgiveness, she knew that the person's deserving of a second chance.

Felicity just hoped that this time, Dimitrius would rather fix that hole in her heart than giving another one that no one could possibly fix anymore.
