《Captured By The King》Sixteen • Chaos

Me? Felicity wondered to herself. A lot of bizarre things have happened to her yet it only gets weirder every time. First, she's a girl from some prophecy. Then, a mate of the vampire king and now, she has a gift.
If someone had told her long ago that she would be the woman she is today, Felicity would have laughed straight in their faces.
When she gave both Dimitrius and Katherine her look of confusion, Katherine gave a knowing look and sigh to Dimitrius before excusing herself. She really did want some time alone to talk to her sister, Rosaleen.
Today marks Rosaleen's fifty-seventh death anniversary. Even though it had happened a long time ago, the pain and the scars still never faded from every vampire and human that loved her. Rosaleen will forever be remembered and avenged for.
After letting Felicity take everything in, Dimitrius finally spoke, "No one knows how you'll be able to use her gift." It was true, Rosaleen's last words echoed through his head, "She'll have my gift on the time she needs it at the most."
For years he has wondered what time Felicity would need such power and up to this moment, he still hasn't found his own answer.
"I don't understand," Felicity muttered but still clearly distracted by her thoughts. On the deepest depth of her mind, chaos erupted. Why me? It was one of the questions that kept replaying on her head but there were no answers to her avail.
Just as Dimitrius opened his mouth to explain the situation further, a noise caught his attention. No, it wasn't a scream or a cry for help. His ears simply heard loud gasps, hard breathing, and frantic heartbeats. Not only did he hear the commotion, he smelled fear and anger upon his whole empire.
"Stay here," he sternly told Felicity before disappearing in less than a second. It was like a bubble popping in front of Felicity's eyes.
She didn't know what was going on and she knew better than not following him so she let herself wander in the garden.
There were at least one hundred names that she saw. Some were even familiar as she read because the vampires who were buried were once servants and slaves in her castle.
Then, she sat close to Rosaleen's grave and talked to her like she was just beside her, listening, and alive.

Like any normal person would, she introduced herself not as a queen but as a friend. Felicity told some stories about her life until it got deeper by the story of the modern time.
Felicity didn't just talk to her, she confided in her like she trusted Rosaleen. Even though it may have looked unusual for others, she felt ease upon opening up about her private life.
When she got to the part of wanting to let her feelings out about Dimitrius, she hesitated. It wasn't because she didn't feel anything for him, no, she stopped because something from behind her moved.
It wasn't the same feeling when Dimitrius or any other vampire would have appeared suddenly behind her. This time, the air around her felt thick and dangerous. It was as if something bad was about to happen and she only hoped one thing,
Whoever's behind me, I hope it's not you, Dominic.

Dimitrius hurriedly went to where the sound of chaos came from. He ignored everything else when the smell of fear mixed with blood. The blood of vampires in his castle, the ones who he treated as family.
When he knew that it was coming from his throne room, one light hand stopped him. Dimitrius stopped, ready to yell at whoever approached him but when he saw a crying face, pleading for help, he gave her a chance to speak.
"Fifteen vampires, Dimitrius. They're killing your best warriors," said Mary with a worried expression and added, "He freed the Lowells."
He didn't utter a single word, instead, he let the beast in him take control before opening the door that led to the bloodshed happening in his kingdom.
Blasting through the wooden doors, he sank his fangs to any enemy that came in his way. He didn't kill them, no, he needed them for interrogation.
When one had tried to lay their hands on him, he swiftly turned around, holding the poor vampire's throat, high in the air.
"Who do you work for?" He growled with authority as if trying the man in front of him bow in submission.
"Kill me, you won't know a single piece of information," the vampire mocked. His words may have angered Dimitrius but he knew better.
"Death is always too easy for an enemy," he scowled before snapping his neck and getting him out of his way. Now, he only had to deal with fourteen more intruders.

Dimitrius made sure to keep them alive to know why such moron creatures invaded his empire when the whole world knew of his power.
Glaring at the scene unfolding in front of his eyes, he saw that four of his best fighters were down, holding their throats like it was falling apart.
There were others who could barely stand. How could fifteen other vampires take down his best trained? He wondered to himself. Then, he counted the ones who were in the throne room and there were only about ten vampires.
Where were the other five? "Hayden," Dimitrius snapped out of his thoughts when a hand grabbed his feet. Hayden, his first in command was gasping for air, pale, and bleeding.
"They are working for -" before he could finish, another vampire had tried to land a stake at his heart but missed when it impaled Dimitrius' hand instead.
He didn't flinch from the pain. If anything, in times of war, he's accustomed to feeling pain and suffering. It's what he's been trained for.
"I've called for help, brother," he whispered to Hayden's unconscious body before leaving him on the floor where he laid. They weren't brothers by blood but he treated him as one through friendship.
The adrenaline in Dimitrius' body has never been high up until this moment. Run. Fight. Snap. He chanted in his head. The urge to kill wasn't there, not unless he got his fill of these invaders.
Surely, they prepared for war. He knew why his men were on the verge of losing against them. The vampires brought a weapon that his castle has long forgotten. Stakes that were laced with vervain.
Taking down as many as he can, he stopped when a distraught scream was heard. Dimitrius did one thing before leaving the war zone, he growled as loud as he can, like a beast himself.
He was not abandoning his people, it was his code in times of war. It meant that he trusted his warriors to win their fight. Dimitrius took one last glance before following where he heard the scream.
First, he heard Katherine. When he saw her state, she looked like beaten until she reached the edge of dying. "Every weapon they have is laced with vervain," she said before collapsing on the floor.
No, this can't be happening one more time. He had lost a loved one before, a family member by blood, he can't lose another. Before she fell completely, Dimitrius caught her.
"Katherine, you are not dying today, not now, not ever!" he said loudly, hoping for Katherine's eyes to open once more, showing him an ounce of life.
And she did, Katherine opened her eyes, looking straight at Dimitrius' orbs. It held so many emotions, all at once. With one closer look, you would have seen right through him.
"It was a trap, brother. Go, find your mate, save our queen," she weakly whispered and touched his chest with her three fingers.
It was another code, their code of family. Ring finger representing Rosaleen, index finger symbolizing Katherine and lastly the middle finger, showing Dimitrius.
When a vampire approached them, telling Dimitrius that his men had won and that he would bring his sister to their healer, he let go of Katherine and used his speed to find Felicity.
He wished that she was still where he had left her but he was proved wrong when there was no more sight of Felicity when he had reached the garden.
Dimitrius followed her scent and the faint sound of her mate's heartbeat. He only had one thought in mind while he ran with all his mighty strength,
I saved her before, I can save her now.
