《The Dark Apprentice: a teen titans fanfiction》Chapter One: It Started With Him

Raven woke up on her back, limp in a darkened alley. The cold asphalt sent chills of uncertainty straight through the thin layer of her dark blue cloak and thin black leotard. Slowly sitting up, the young demoness is faced with the sight of a road, a few cars passing now and then, with people walking around. Gingerly touching her temples where a sudden headache struck, she sensed something wrong internally but couldn't place her finger on what it could be.
After struggling to push herself to her feet, the sorceress staggered towards the street, the large lamppost illuminating it clearly. Signs, advertisements really, all saying "Jump city". She pulled up her cowl as a breeze blew by, and started walking. Where was she going? No idea. Did she have any other choice? Not really. She was starving. Her teeth chewed at her lip as her stomach growled for the 4th time in 5 minutes. Raven again glanced around for somewhere to get food. A small convenience store caught her eye, just at the end of the road she was roaming.
'Hopefully that will have something I can eat. This planet seems strangely familiar but so new at the same time.'
Raven paused at the front door and found it locked tight, with no spot for a key. She desperately looked for another way in before sinking to the ground in despair. She was starving, didn't know where to get food, and the solution to both of her problems was inaccessible.
As she contemplated her options, Raven felt something strange. First she wrote it off as hunger pains. Then maybe a sickness. Black aura surrounded her hands, and she felt the cool static like sensation flowing through her being. Instinct told her what to do. She pointed a finger at the door of the store and sure enough, it quietly unlocked and slid open for her. Raven ducked her head as she went inside, her hunger roaring at the prospect of being full.

Looking along the rows of small shelvings, Raven chose a few of the colorful packaged goods and ripped into them. No one was around to see right?
Just then, an explosion shook the ground as a meteor struck the pavement in the middle of the city. Raven froze and watched as people ran from the sounds of panic, dodging around the dozens of cars. Curiosity struck her and she snuck through various alley ways towards the commotion, irritatingly getting lost a few times.
Reaching the other side of town, Raven noticed a tall girl with long, red hair that was blowing with the breeze. Her eyes a strikingly glowing green against the dark of the night sky. In front of her was a kid that looked around Raven's own physical age. He had spiky black hair, and was wearing green tights with a yellow cape, over a bright red shirt with an 'R' on it. Like one of the strange lights hanging above the roads.
The girl charged at the boy, who ducked out of the way, but was thrown backwards when he failed to dodge another hit. She was standing over the fallen boy, about to strike again. Just as Raven stepped out of the alley way, not even sure of her own plan to stop the violence, a green creature rammed into the girl, sending her away. The animal then changed into a small green boy with pointed ears and a weird mask. "ExDoom Patrol Member Beast Boy, sir! How can I help? Wowzers! You're Robin, aren't you, sir?" He stated obnoxiously loud. He looked to be younger than the other. 'Beast boy? Robin? That must be the name of the other kid. How much stranger can this get?'
Raven ignored their chatter and continued watching from the alley as they fought, until the girl picked up a longer than normal vehicle that looked like it could hold 50 people, throwing it at the boys like nothing. As they jumped away, a large figure in a hood that covered his face jumped in the way and caught the flying metal death trap in his arms. He dropped it to his side and called in a deep voice, "Yo! Who's here messin' up my neighborhood?"

"She started it!" The green one said before the girls handcuffs fell off, revealing another pair of bindings. Green orbs of some kind of energy left her hands rapidly and flew at the group of boys, but they all reacted quickly and jumped behind the now-harmless vehicle.
"Girl's gonna wreak the whole city." The covered man said from his position behind the smoking cover.
"I won't let her. I won't lose this fight." Robin said fiercely. He looked like he was about to attack again before a green octopus grabbed him and held him still. Beast Boy changed back into a boy before saying "Maybe fighting isn't the answer to this. She looks almost scared." The girl dropped to her knees, her hands smoking.
"Stand down."
"What? You think you're the boss or something?" The larger man yelled.
"Just give me a chance." The black haired boy then walked over to the attacker slowly, speaking gently to her. 'He must have a death wish. The fool'
They got too far away for Raven to hear the rest of the conversation, but as soon as the restraints were off, the attacker grabbed him and pulled him closer for a second, before shoving him down again. "If you wish not to be destroyed, you will leave me alone!" She yelled before flying into the air and disappearing.
Not wanting to be seen, Raven backed up farther into the alley she was hiding in. Turning around, she was faced with the armored chest of a man and a black and orange mask above that. 'So much for not being seen.'
"Hello there" a voice said in a surprisingly smooth, deep tone. "I think we need to have a chat."
Raven moved back from him quickly, the feeling of static returning to her hands as her instinct told her to fight.
"Easy now. I don't want to fight you. I only want to talk. Do you speak English?"
Raven growled a bit before nodding her head, not trusting her voice to stay steady in the presence of this man, a voice in her head telling her that he is dangerous.
"Good. Now then, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Slade."
