《Return • Todoroki ff》Chapter 10

Like always I was rudely awoken by my alarm, signalling that it was a start of a new day. Crawling out of my bed I walked to my bathroom to get ready for the day. I decided to wear a black and white cold shoulder dress and I paired with a pair of small diamond heart shaped earrings. Grabbing a black purse I walked out of my room, closing the door behind me and walking towards the dining table to have my breakfast.
"Oh Akari you're still at home?" I questioned when I saw my sister seated at her chair.
"My shop only opens at 10am," She replied as she took a bite out of her bacon.
"Oh I see.. Shall I stop by this afternoon to purchase some flowers for my new office?"
"Why not. What flowers are you looking for?"
"Baby Breaths," I replied as I sat down and started to eat my breakfast.
"Okay, I'll reserve some for you, I assume you're coming near your lunch time?" I nod as I continued eating.
After a few more bites of her pancake, Akira left the dining table to put her dishes into the kitchen before coming back to the chair to grab her bag.
"I'll see you later Niko," Akira said as she gave me a pat on my head before leaving the house.
Niko finished her breakfast not long after Akira and she placed her plate into the kitchen sink before she walked to the main door to wear her white flats. She opened the door and left to Todoroki's car.
"Ah.... I need to remember to give him back his car keys," Niko mumbled as she got into the car.
As she was driving to the main office which she was supposed to go yesterday her phone rang. She grabbed her bluetooth earpiece which was in the place where you were supposed to put your drink and connected it to her phone before placing it into her ear to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"Hitori-san. Are you on your way yet? There's an emergency here and you're needed."

"I am about 10 minutes away. What happened??"
"The hero which was supposed to endorse our product suddenly called off the contract and there's no one to replace him."
"Continue to search for replacements until I reach the office," Niko said as she ended the call, stepping on the gas paddle she sped up.
Within 5 mins she reached the office. She parked her car in the carpark, grabbed her bag and ran towards the office.
"Thank god, Hitroi-san you're finally here," Kaito said when he saw Niko burst through her office doors.
"How's the search going," She asked as she placed her purse down on the desk.
"Still searching. Also the finance department reported that the branch store down the road has been making less profits than usual,"
Niko furrowed her eyebrows and replied, "Are you sure it's not because of the lack of customers?"
Kaito stood up from the couch in Niko's office and grabbed his ipad showing her the data of that branch store.
"Ever since they changed their manager early this year their profits and ratings have been very low,"
"Arrange for a visit to that store later today. Do not inform the manager that we are coming we will act like normal customers upon entering," Niko said as she looked through the data in the ipad.
"For now continue looking for a replacement. I'll try contacting some of my ex-classmates," Niko stated as she passed the ipad back to Kaito and grabbing her phone from her purse.
She scrolled through her contact list and without hesitation she pressed on a name and called. She prayed that the opposite party would pick up.
"Hello?"
While I was looking through some documents in my office, my phone rang and I was surprised when I saw the caller ID, Niko.
I placed my pen down and turned my attention to my phone, picking up her call.
"Hello?"
"Ah Todoroki are you free? The hero who was supposed to endorse the new product for my company suddenly cancelled the contract and we have no replacements."

"I have to check with my sidekick but I am pretty sure I am free today."
"Great I'll see you at Hitori Inc. at 11am. Thank you!"
"See you," I replied and ended the call. I got up from my seat and walked out of my office to look for my sidekick.
"Suzuki-san I am free this afternoon right?"
"Let me just check real quick.... Yep you are is there anything going on Shoto-san," My sidekick asked.
"I am heading to Hitori. Inc to help endorse their product. Inform whoever is needed," I stated and she nodded.
I walked back to my office to continue with documents until about 10 am before I left my office again to walk to Hitori Inc. since I lent my car to Niko.
"Luckily the company isn't that far," I mumbled under my breath as I walked.
"Good news! I found someone to endorse our product."
"Who?"
"Shoto."
"Oh is he gonna come over?"
"Yes I told him to come over to Hitori Inc. at 11am. Go inform the departments to prepare the documents required and go get the studio ready. We're gonna finish this photoshoot before lunch," I said as I stood up from my seat to the finance department.
"Got it," Kaito replied before leaving my office in a hurry to pass my message to the rest of the departments.
"Hara-san, can I get the reports for the branch store down the street sent to my office?"
"Okay I'll give deliver it to you as soon as possible."
"Thank you," I gave her a pat on the shoulder before walking off to the Human Resource department.
"Ito-san can you deliver the documents on the manager from the branch store down the street to my office?" He nodded and I gave him a smile before walking back to my office.
"Hitori-san, the contract has already been crafted please look through and sign," Kaito said as I entered my office.
"That was rather fast. The work efficiency in the main company is impressive," I commented and took a seat as I flipped through the contents of the contract.
"Change this line and this line and bring it back to me," I said as I closed the contract and gave it to Kaito.
Kaito nodded and took the contract from me as he left my office. Not long after he left Ito and Suzuki-san came into give me the documents on the manager and reports on the branch store down the street respectively.
I thanked them and looked through the reports until I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in," I said, eyes still glued on the documents.
"Hitori-san, Shoto-san has arrived and is currently waiting in the studio."
"Oh? That was quick." I glanced at the small clock on my table and realised that it was only 10.55am.
"I'll be there in a second meanwhile tend to him." The employee nodded and closed my office door.
After I finished looking through the documents I left my office and walked over to the studio. When I entered I walked towards Kaito and Shoto who were discussing the contract.
"If everything is okay I'll need you to sign here Shoto-san," Kaito said handing Shoto a pen and the contract.
Shoto glanced through the contract and signed it before passing it back to Kaito.
"Hitori-san, we need your signature and this contract will be valid."
I took the contract from Kaito and looked through the contents before signing.
"Let's start the photoshoot now," Kaito announced and Shoto was immediately ushered to the dressing room with the outfit in his hand.
About 10 minutes later, Shoto walked out dress in a white blouse with a black sweater over it, black pants with a belt and chains.
I didn't even realise that I was staring until Kaito waved his hands in front of me.
"Hitori-san?"
"A-ah yes?"
"Are you okay? You were spacing out," Kaito said handing me a bottle of water from the cooler.
"Y-Yea I'm fine it's just the heat," I replied taking the bottle of water and gulping it down.
I thought everything was going to go smoothly until the photographer spoke up....

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

8 117Mhaieiyu - Arc 1: The Syndicate
