《Deja Vu: The Healer》Chapter 8: Wedding

A few hours later Eric and I sat in white wooden folding chairs, ready for the wedding. It was easy enough to convince Blake to let us attend after all. He was actually extremely accommodating and even happy to allow our rsvp to change. I guess to him it was like having the mayor show up to his wedding.

The march started and as soon as my mate was out of the doors, Eric elbowed me in the side. Like I hadn't already realized she was close through the bond.

My lips parted and a long hot breath left me at the stunning daylight sight of her. She was like a walking Aphrodite. How could I have forgotten how beautiful she was in mere hours? Her blonde locks curled into large waves sliding down over her shoulder, loose tendrils framing her face. Eyes bright and alluring, lashes full and thick against smoky eyes. The dress, a flowery lilac silk hugging her curves.

"William is staring at you," my wolf ears picked up John's tight smiled whisper to her as he walked her down the aisle, arms linked.

John apparently had convinced Blake that him and the wolf she practiced with yesterday should change bridesmaids. Blake told her they needed to switch because of the differences in height and while she scowled at John, she allowed the change. He had been linking me the last few minutes about her every move which I was grateful for, but her short answers to him when he asked questions made me grin. I think she was still angry with him for taking her back into Eric's office last night.

Her eyes scanned the crowd wildly and finally caught with mine. Those loving blues, so dark of a color seized on mine.

Holy effing Moly. That suit. She linked me and I looked down momentarily to remember what I was wearing.

"His name is William?" was her quiet murmuring response to John as they stepped. I smiled to assume she didn't realize half the guests could hear not only her voice over the music but even her heartbeat. That is if any were paying attention to her as I was.

Her breath caught in her throat. He's so good looking. Gaaaawwwwh. Last night's dreaaaam! Then she replayed exactly what she thought of that kiss to me as a blush crept up her cheeks.

It brought a grin to my face. I gave a nod as approval of her faux dream too.

When her eyes trained back on me she kicked her own heel, but John was able to keep her upright before she fell. I'd be surprised if anyone else in the audience even noticed as the bride just arrived and they watched her walk. I'd only ever have eyes for Caroline though.

My mate's sweet voice whispered a slight sheepish thanks to John.

He patted her arm with his other hand. "No problem Princess. Glad to see you like him too."

I rolled my eyes at his pet name for her, but he'd realized it annoyed her greatly and he was enjoying it. Luckily she'd already been marked and he had a mate so I didn't feel the need to punch his lights out for it. I felt she was just annoyed, not truly worried about John so he could live for now.

"I'm engaged," she growled. I've told you that three times already loser!

He shrugged. "Not for long."

I had to chuckle at her precious scowl to him.

"Stop saying that!"

"Keep smiling Princess. Everyone is watching."

Her eyes darted around anxiously, but relieved to find that people were instead watching the bride. That was until she connected with my smile and went wide eyed and stared back towards the stage cutting off my view of her. He's looking right at me! He saw me trip. Oh my gosh I'm going to die.

I grinned as I started to realize that maybe she didn't understand she was communicating to me. I was maybe getting glimpses into her unfiltered inner thoughts.

Her fingers came out in a slight wave to the other side of the tent and I followed her glance to the dark haired man she was sleeping next to. My teeth gritted. He was whispering to a red-headed woman, nearly the color of Catherine's, so possibly a relative.

John and Kara then reached the stage and parted ways on either side of the officiant.

As the bride made it to the stage and held at Blake's hands, my mate's link came through again. They are so beautiful together. Suddenly she's not a silly girl racing into marriage anymore. A perfect bride for a perfect groom. ...Wait. Am I wistful? When did that happen?

Her link again started crossing the boundaries into what she thought of her dream. Focus Caroline! If I keep thinking that I'm going to faint! Yes. Catherine and Blake. Them! The lovely couple.

A few more words into the ceremony.

But all I want to focus on is how William's real hands might feel on me.... wait no, shoot! Focus.

I started chuckling and had to adjust myself against the chair. Eric's eyes swept to me in question.

I linked him. I don't think Kara knows she keeps linking me.

He laughed internally. Oh yeah? What's she saying?

Replaying last night. Showing me some personal images.

You dog!

I grinned wide at her wandering eyes catching my gaze. Her eyes tore back to the couple and she bit at her bottom lip, trying to hold her own smile in her cheek.

Oh gosh. Why am I feeling like this?! I have a fiancé!

I groaned. She's still trying to fight the bond during the day. At least she responded when she thought there were no consequences.

She continued. Also... I need to get back to my dreams. I need a naptime. Like now.

It was hard to hold my laughter in, and I smashed down my own grin. But her thoughts then zeroed in on the bride when the I do's sounded and the officiant announced the new couple.

After the ceremony finalized, guests started lining up to give their congratulations to the couple. When I realized they were going clear through the bridesmaids as well, I stepped into the line. I could tell Kara was irritated by the line though. Stupid small talk! 'Good ceremony. You have a lovely dress. BlaBlaBla!' Get me out of here.

She was so focused on hating having to shake everyone else's hand, she didn't even notice until I stepped to her with my hand extended.

Oh, wow! That suit is even better close up.

"I'm William," I tried, seeing as how we technically hadn't been introduced.

She barely blinked and placed her hand delicately in mine. The delicious sparks ricocheted though our touch. "Caroline."

Holy Frick his hand is warm. Cover me like a blanket will you?

I grinned at her thought right to my face, then pulled her hand to my lips kissing her knuckles. "Nice to meet you Caroline." I kept my eyes on her.

Her breathing hitched, chest completely still.

Is breathing something a body really should do? Because I think I suck at it. Her inner voice was in turmoil, but her words to me were pleasant. "Nice to meet you too Mr. William." She then pulled her hand from me and squeezed into her small bouquet.

Eric then showed up after chatting too long with Blake. I turned and pointed his way. "This is Casey Eric. Most people just call him Eric."

Her eyes trailed over him and she gave a cold, "hello."

He gave her a half smile with a brow lift. Suddenly she bristled, shoulders squaring, and not just me, but all the wolves in the vicinity startled at her loud link. GO THE F..K AWAY!

Wolf eyes dashed around the tent trying to find the problem and Alpha linked us, hands up to Kara in surrender. It's alright. Please get back to yourselves.

What happened? I linked him.

He gave a slight smile, still looking at her. I just said "Hello Kara" through the link. Obviously, she did not want my presence in her head and slammed the door in my face.

She looked pleased that he had submitted to her. Her mind link reaching me again. Looks like I punched him. Good. Jerk practically ripped my hair out last night.

I turned quick to Eric. You ripped her hair out? What the hell man!

He looked over and gave a soft shrug. She was being a pain. Wouldn't answer my questions. Sorry.

Sorry me? Sorry her! My angry inner voice shot.

"Caroline," he softened, reaching a hand to shake. "I'm sorry about our encounter yesterday. I didn't mean to be so aggressive. I was merely trying to make sure my community was taken care of. I'm sure you understand."

She studied him a moment then finally shook his hand, relaxing. "That's fine. I understand." No I frickin' don't.

The line was bunching up behind us and though I wanted nothing more to stay in her sight forever, I'd have to break this contact short. Blake would snap my neck if he thought I was mucking up his wedding. "Well, we're tying up the line. I'll see you around, Caroline." I winked her name, and her knees practically popped at their joints she stood tall so quickly.

I hope you see me around my dreams Mr. Sexy William. "Nice to meet you, Mr. William."

I gave a last smile and shook the hands of the remaining bridesmaids. She squirmed in her stance as she greeted the next guest in line.

Oh thank goodness Rick wasn't here. I'm glad he didn't see me drooling over some other guy.

Giving a quick scan of the crowd she was right. A surge of happiness flew over me as I knew her feelings for me were growing over that person's, so much that she didn't want to let him know.
