《Soulmate Bonded: Jungkook xReader (feat. Namjoon)》(Chapter 47) Cry with me

Hi Soulmates,
One of my friends passed away this week.
I'd like to dedicate this chapter to her.
,
who was always positive,
always sweet.
You were too good for this world.
I miss you already.
Sept 10, 2019.
----------------
----------------
Flashback chapter
POV retold continued.
-------------------------------------------------------
You hit send before you can get embarrassed and change your mind.
You'll go to Japan without me, and we'll be fine without the Healing.
But just know that I'll miss you.
-------------------------------------------------------
He read it.
The read notification appears beside your message.
Your face hot, you stare at the screen, your fingers white from clutching your phone tight.
Nothing.
There's no reply.
You think you might die if he doesn't say anything back.
You stare harder, as though your sheer force of will could do something.
And just as you're about to throw your phone aside and bury your face into the sofa,
Jungkook is typing...
appears across the bottom of the chat screen.
Your heart flips violently.
You don't even blink.
But...
It goes on for two minutes.
Jungkook is typing...
Stops for a while.
Then starts again.
Is he typing a long message?
Was he about to tell you off for being overbearing?
Or maybe he felt obligated to explain why he didn't ask you to go to Japan with him...
You finally inhale, having forgotten to breathe.
Just calm down.
You've kissed.
Jungkook kissed you.
Surely saying "I'll miss you" isn't crossing any lines.
You close your eyes.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
And when you open your eyes again,
like a reward for calming down,
there it was... a message from Jungkook.
You blush furiously all the way down your neck.
But you can't help the stupidly wide grin that was hurting your cheeks.
You read his reply again.
And again.
---------------------
Jungkook
--------------------
Jungkook blushes a little as he types his reply.
No.
It's too sappy.
He hits the backspace button until the reply box is blank again.
Be cool.
She may have said something really sweet but...
You're a man, Jungkook.
Be cool.
He takes a deep breath and tries again.
He scowls at the message.
No, that sounds so slimey.
He throws his head back in frustration.
"What is it, Jungkook?" Jimin asks from a few feet away.
He's sprawled on the floor, stretching.
"Nothing," Jungkook groans.
"He's probably texting his soulmate," Taehyung grins.
"She just found out we are going to Japan and she didn't seem happy about it."
"She's upset we are travelling for work?" Jimin's face lifts with surprise.
"No, she's upset Jungkookie doesn't want her to go too," Taehyung says smugly,
enjoying the flash of helplessness that darts across Jungkook's face.

The maknae has been so cocky ever since he met his soulmate, his jealousy completely overriding the respect he should have for Taehyung.
She is Taehyung's friend, and Jungkook would have to learn to accept it.
"Was she... very upset?" Jungkook asks quietly.
Taehyung is taken back by the meek tone of Jungkook's voice.
He softens.
"No, she was more... confused."
"Why don't you want her to go with us, Jungkook?" Jimin asks, his head between his knees.
"Namjoon hyung and I had a talk. He thinks it will be better if I change some things.
And I'm going to do that," Jungkook replies,
his attention already turned back to his phone screen.
"Come on, get into your starting positions!" Hoseok snaps at Bangtan, frowning at Jungkook who was still texting.
Even Yoongi is striding across the floor already,
and the choreography teacher starts the music and beckons at Jungkook.
"One second," Jungkook calls out in a panic.
His fingers fly across his keyboard.
He doesn't have the luxury of thinking about his reply anymore.
He just types what is on his mind,
honest because he is out of time.
His fingers glide over the keys as fast as they can.
He hits send right as he's throwing his phone onto the table.
He's still blushing as he squeezes past his hyungs
and takes his spot inside the formation.
Taehyung meets his eye and smirks.
--------------------
You
---------------------
You were surprised when evening came
and you received a very different text from Jungkook.
On one hand, you should be glad that he was stronger and didn't need Healing every night anymore.... right?
But on the other hand... you had thought spending time together was about more than just the Healing...
You bite down on your lip as you reply him.
I feel fine too, but are you sure you'll be okay?
--------------------
Jungkook
--------------------
Jungkook grips his phone tight in his hand.
Of course her first concern is whether is strong enough.
Because he was the needier of the two.
He shoves his phone into his pocket, turning back to the practice studio.
Namjoon casts him a look of surprise as Jungkook throws his towel across the floor angrily.
"If it's taking that much of a toll on you, Jungkook, you don't have to do it exactly like I suggested..." Namjoon frowns.
"No, I can do it. I'm fine.
I'll see her tomorrow night anyway," Jungkook schools his expression.
"How is it coming along?" Namjoon nods.
"Slow for now, but I'll get it done while we're in Japan," Jungkook takes a giant swig of water.
"That's good. And you'll get enough Healing tomorrow night, before we leave?"

Namjoon turns his body away, as though he was unconcerned,
but Jungkook could see in the mirror that Namjoon's face was scrunched with worry.
"Yes, hyung. I'll get enough Healing," he replies seriously.
-------------------
You
-------------------
You feel the morning light through your closed eyelids,
but it was a whisper of fabric that had woken you.
You open your eyes to lock gazes with Jungkook.
Having spent one night apart really made a difference.
You had been weak for Healing by last night,
at almost 42 hours without it,
when you finally saw him.
He's leaned over on the edge of his sofa, his head halfway onto the bed,
his face aligned with yours.
"Good morning," he whispers, as he meets your eyes.
"Hi," you reply,
immediately running your fingers through your hair,
wondering how long he had been watching you,
whether you looked a mess...
His eyes linger on you for a moment,
and then he's pulling his arm away, from where it had been pressed against yours,
Healing the two of you all night.
He slithers off the side of the sofa and heads straight for the door.
"We're off to Japan. Hope you have a good day," he says.
Why does his smile look a little forced?
"You too," you answer.
You are a little surprised that he is leaving without a spare bit of conversation,
but he is leaving for Japan in a few hours... maybe he is stressed.
And he runs a hand through his hair, giving you a tight smile as he disappears.
--------------------
Jungkook
-------------------
"Is it done?" Namjoon nudges Jungkook's shoulder.
"Yes," Jungkook exhales with relief.
"I'm proud of you. I know that stuff isn't easy for you," Namjoon claps him on the back.
It's been two days in Japan and Jungkook is exhausted,
dark rings under his eyes from staying up for the better half of both nights.
But it was worth it.
He got it done.
He would go home, and he would be ready.
Jungkook smiles to himself, trailing behind his hyungs as they bicker inside the airport convenience store.
Jin points at the rows of gummy candy.
"Let's get two of those."
"Don't you eat way too much candy, hyung?" Hoseok tilts his head.
"You say that, but whenever I buy it, you all eat some! I don't even get to eat that much of it!"
Jin grabs two bags, huffing.
"That's true. I'll buy those, hyung," Namjoon laughs, taking the bags from Jin's hands.
Namjoon stands at the cashier and struggles counting out the Yen he had been given.
And with slight shove from Taehyung as he playfights with Jimin,
Namjoon drops the entire handful.
He sighs and picks it up, but his phone slides out of his hoodie pocket and hits the ground.
Jungkook and Jin burst out laughing at him,
Jimin bending over so far to laugh that his hat falls off.
"Aish, Namjoon-ah," Yoongi drawls.
Namjoon grins, running his hand through his hair.
----------
Jungkook is standing by the boarding gate, talking to Namjoon
when they hear a shout.
He turns to see two of the bodyguards standing over someone who had fallen.
Something skids wildly across the floor beneath their feet.
Namjoon squints at the familiar color,
and Jungkook realizes before his hyung does,
that it is Namjoon's phone.
"What are you doing?!" one of the bodyguards is still yelling.
"No paparazzi filming past security!" the other one says.
"Wait, that's my phone," Namjoon finally calls out frantically,
darting between the stylists.
He picks up the phone, now 100% certain it is his
as he sees the identical scratch on the fingerprint scanner.
Jungkook looks over someone's shoulder.
It's a girl.
It's a girl, scrambling to get to her feet.
The two bodyguards tower over her.
Jungkook can't hear what they are saying, because a wave of exhaustion washes over him.
He sinks down to sit on his small luggage case.
----------
Jungkook lifts his head drowsily as he hears a squeaky tone of argument.
"What?!"
It's Jin hyung.
Jungkook's hearing is fuzzy through the ringing in his ears.
He feels weak.
The drone of the plane engine thrums through him.
His body is heating up... he knows he needs Healing as soon as they land in Korea.
He doesn't just need Healing though.
The lights in his chest were dying.
He misses her.
The way she smiles.
The way she is always so concerned to Heal him
and her brows would fold softly as she reaches for him...
Jungkook blinks at his rowdy hyungs,
misery blooming in him.
He turns away, trying to picture her face.
She is so far away.
He curls up in his seat, facing the window, trying to ignore everything around him.
He misses her.
And he is going to change everything when he gets back to her.
