Evie stepped into Cerebro once again and the energy was different. It was like a match had been lit again, a flame burning brighter then before. The brunette looked to the man she loved and could see that something had changed in his eyes. Even though his eyes showed his broken heart, there was a spark.

Cerebro turned on once again and Charles obvious struggled with it, he was dealing. Evie's gaze was on the man, prepared to step in if she needed to. It wasn't until he started speaking that she relaxed. Slightly.

"Raven, stop." Charles exclaimed which made the trio stood behind look at him. "Stop running. Back at the house where you should be. I need you to come home. If you kill Trask, you'll be creating countless more just like him." There was a pause, Evie assumed Raven was talking from wherever she was. "Those are Erik's words, not yours. The girl I grew up with wasn't capable of killing. She was good, fair, full of compassion."

"Shut her down, Charles." Logan told the telepath urgently. "Get in her head."

"She's not letting me in. I'm barely holding on, I'm not strong enough yet." Charles snapped at the man, his voice wavering slightly. "I know what Trask has done, but killing him will not bring them back. It will set you on a path from which there is no return. An endless cycle of killing, us and them, till there is nothing left. But we can stop it, right now, you and I. You just have to come home."

Charles' face fell as he heard what Raven was saying. It was like his heart was breaking all over again and Evie couldn't stand to see him like this. Without thinking about it, Evie placed her hand on her shoulder, squeezing it slightly. It was a small gesture but she knew it meant a lot when she felt the man relax under her.

"You do?" Charles continued to talk to Raven. "Then wherever you go, I will find you and, Raven, if you make me, I will stop you."

With a frustrated sigh, the man pulled of the helmet and threw it onto the control panel. It was obvious that he was angry but whether it was at Raven or at himself was left up for interpretation. He ran a hand through his hair as gritted his teeth.

"Get some rest Charles," Logan spoke up, patting the man on the back before leaving the futuristic room. "We'll track her in the morning and find out exactly where she's going."

"This is all my fault." Charles exclaimed as he rolled around the room. Evie was watching from the doorway, leaning against it as she watched her lover slowly freak out.

"Charles." Evie called out in a melodic tone.

"Erik was right," The man continued as he ignored her. He didn't mean to but the voices were louder then hers. "We should have killed her.

Evie's eyes widened in alarm at his words, her brows raising as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Charles." She exclaimed, almost scolding the man.

"Now she's going to kill Trask and we have no idea where she is. None of this was ever worth it." His voice slowly started to get louder as his anger grew.

"Charles!" Evie shouted over Charles' rambling which man the man stop and look at her. She sighed deeply, walking towards his and sitting in front of him. "This fight isn't over yet." She told him, grabbing his hands and drawing patterns on them. "Have a little faith, find a reason to hope."

The man simply stared at her, a small smile on his lips as he slowly relaxed. His gaze was on Evie who focused on his hands. He couldn't believe that he was lucky enough to have someone like her love him. Evie's gaze fluttered upwards and a bashful smile overtook her lips.

There was a silence between them, collecting words that they needed to say after ten years. Like always, Evie wasn't the first to talk, Charles knew that would be the case so that's why he spoke up.

"You know, Logan showed me a glimpse of the future." He stated which made Evie raise her brows in interested. "You weren't there like Logan had said but there someone who was. Our daughter."

Evie's eyes widened as her hands stilled around Charles'. Her jaw dropped slightly as she took in the words. The idea that she had brought someone into the world was impossible for Evie, she had never considered having children.

"We have a daughter?" Evie questioned him, her voice coming out like a little squeak.

A small chuckle escaped Charles' lips as he watched her shocked expression morph to one of joy. "Yes," He confirmed, placing a piece of hair behind her ear. "And this may sound selfish but I'm fighting for her."

"Then let's fight for out unborn child together." Evie responded after a moment, placing her forehead on his, both of them closing their eyes. "That's our reason to hope Charles. I'm so proud of you."

"There are so many things I have to apologise for." Charles whispered, his breathing fanning over her face.

Evie smiled. "I know and I'll wait." She told him. With a grateful sigh, Charles moved his head from hers and onto her shoulder, resting it there.

And they stayed like that for a while. That was until their door slammed open, a worried and annoyed Logan standing there, his chest heaving indicating that he had run to find them. The pair looked to him, their brows furrowing together in sync.

"Logan? What's happening?" Evie questioned him in alarm, standing up from her spot.

"Raven was here." Logan told them breathlessly. The brunette's eyes widened, looking back to Charles who stared at the man.

The trio made their way back down to Cerebro where Hank was already waiting. His head was hung low, clearly blaming himself for what had happened. But Evie didn't understand why people were freaking out until she saw what had happened to the machine.

Cerebro was completely destroyed. The helmet, the panel, it was all broken.

Evie stared at it in disbelief, how far had Raven gone? Hasn't this her home at one point? The brunette couldn't imagine doing any of this but there was something telling her that Raven thought this was right. But was it right?

"We can't track her now." Hank stated as he motioned to Cerebro.

"She's cut her ties." Charles muttered, his melancholy mood reflecting onto everyone else in the room. Evie glanced to Logan who stared at the equipment, an emotionless expression on his face.

Suddenly, Hank's eyes lit up as if he was struck with an idea. "Hey, I saw on the news that there was going to be an announcement in Washington this afternoon about a new prototypical for mutants." He announced which made them all look at him.

Was there a chance that their hope was misplaced?

Hank pushed the door open, leaving it open as Charles, Logan and Evie entered the room. The wall was littered with computers and wires that all lead to the dish outside. "This the system I designed to record any news about Paris, over all three networks and PBS." He explained, his eyes lighting up with excitement.

"All three? Wow." Logan commented, sarcasm palpable in his voice. Evie tilted her head, silently questioned the tone but shook it off.

"Yeah, and PBS." Hank added with a childish smile. "Look what I found."

The TV made a noise before the screen started showing the news. "Tomorrow in front of the White House, the President will make his announcement. He'll be joined by Secretary of Defense Laird and has even sought the help of renowned scientist Bolivar Trask, he's special adviser to combat this mutant issue. The White House has asked -"

Hank paused the video, looking back to the group to watch their reactions. The brunette lent against the bookshelf behind her, her eyes wide. "Oh shit." She muttered in disbelief. Her body tensed up, knowing the weight of what this meant.

"Raven doesn't realise that if she kills Trask at an event like that with the whole world watching..." Charles started, almost too afraid to finish his thinking.

"Then I came a long way for nothing." Logan finished in a large sigh, crossing his arms over his chest.

"And there's more bad news." Hank added making Evie glare at him. She really didn't want to hear what he had to say because her hope was already crumbling. "I saw the report, they found traces of her blood in Paris. For all we know, they already have her DNA, which is all they'd need..."

Logan gritted his teeth, feeling all the eyes in the room fall to him. "To create the Sentinels of the future."

It was tense that someone could cut it with a knife. Their bodies all stiff that they would fall over like a statue if pushed.

"Now there's a theory in Quantum Physics that time is immutable." Hank started once again as he adjusted his glasses. "It's like a river, you can throw a pebble into it, create a ripple, but the current always corrects itself. No matter what you do, the river just keeps flowing in the same direction." He explained, sending them all nervous glances.

Evie furrowed her brows, almost insulted by what he had said. "What are you trying to say Hank?" She questioned him, wondering what brought this thinking on.

"What I'm saying is, what if the war is inevitable?" He clarified, moving in his seat. "What if she's meant to kill Trask? What if this is just simply who she is?"

"Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, doesn't mean they're lost forever." Charles stated slowly, as if he was reciting it. Logan's face lit up with recognition and looked to the professor. "No, I don't believe that theory, Hank. And I cannot believe that that is who she is. Ready the plane, we're going to Washington."
