"It was last night, roght before nighttime. I saw Chihiro... in the dormitory warehouse. I saw him stuffing a track jacket into a duffel bag. And then, I assume, he headed off to exercise." Celeste informed.
"A track jacket and a duffel bag? But we didn't find anything like that at the crime scene!" Taka pointed out. "True... and I didn't see anyone sneaking something out..." Y/n claimed. "It seems like the culprit destroyed them to get rid of any evidence..." Sakura noted. "And that's when he said something that struck me as rather odd..." Celeste started. "Chihiro told me he was 'in a hurry.' But why would he be in a hurry? Only if someone were waiting for him, I should think."
"So, Mr. Fujisaki was on his way to meet woth someone, and then they were going to work out together..?" Hifumi asked. "But Hina and I had invited him to exercise with us plenty of times, and he always declined." Sakura spoke. "Probably cuz he was afraid you'd find out the secret he was hiding, right?" Hiro suggested. "Which means that conversely, he must have trusted whoever he was meeting with very much." Celeste said, "Enough so that he was willing to risk his secret being revealed..."
"Uhuhuhu! What marvelous friendship!" Genocide Jill laughed. "The point is, whoever he met up with is the culprit, right? So we just gotta figure out who it was!" Hina exclaimed. "But knowing what we know, I can't even guess..." Makoto stated. "...No, you already have what you need to make the connection." Kyoko informed. "...Huh?" Makoto sounded. "You know who the attacker is." Kyoko clearified. "S-Seriously!?" Tala questioned. "Wh-Who is it!? Who's the killer!?" Mondo asked. "I'm curios too, who is it?" Y/n questioned.

"Think back to the track jacket and the duffel bad the killer disposed of." Kyoko hinted, "Focus on the details of these items, and it should become obvious who was waiting for him."
"...Are you sure about that? You really think we can figure out who did it based on two peaces of evidencd we don't have?" Celeste interrogated. "What, you wanna track down some fingerprints or something?" Hifumi teased. "Even if we had the equipment for that, we wouldn't know how to use it!" Taka cleared.
"As was noted, the evidence is already gone. There's nothing to get fingerprints from." Byakuya stated." "Maybe, but we CAN make certain inferences, if we just take the time to talk it out." Kyoko said. "Easy for you to say..." Hina spoke, "But fine- Celeste, did you notice anything special about the bad or jacket?"
"The bag was... just a normal duffel bag from the warehouse. All the bags were the same, so I can't imagine what would make that one special..." Celeste said. "Well, if I remember right, there was a decent variety of tracksuits to choose from..." Sakura informed, "Do you think there might be some connection between a culprit and Chihiro's jacket?"
"Perhaps. Let's explore that, and talk a bit more about the jacket he took." Kyoko suggested.
"Why did he choose the specific tracksuit he did?" Kyoko asked.
"What do you mean 'the specific tracksuit'?" Byakuya aksed.
"I got it! He chose that specific tracksuit because... it matched the one the culprit was wearing!" Taka suggested.
"So... what you're saying is... the attacker was wearing the same blue tracksuit as him?
My tracksuit is black!" Mondo informed.
Makoto shouted.
"...Mondo..." Makoto started. "What?" Said boy replied, looking at the guy. Makoto did the same and looked at the pompadoured guy. "...Nobody... mentioned the color... of Chihiro's tracksuit..." He said. "Hold on- What did you-" Mondo couldn't form a sentence. "Celeste, before we began the trial, did you tell anyone the color of the tracksuit?" Makoto asked. "The only one I told about any of this was you." Celeste answered. "I-I'm sure he saw the clothes at some point in the investigation...!" Taka said. "No, that can't be it." Kyoko claimed, "The bag and clothes were surely disposed of by the time we began our investigation." "The only reason he could've known is if he was the one who attacked Cherry, dontcha think?" Genocide Jill said, holding out her scissors. "W-Well, I just happened to see Chihiro last night. He walked right past me holding the tracksuit in his hands." Mondo claimed. "No, that can't be it either. According to Celeste's testimony, the tracksuit was stuffed in the bag..." Makoto stated.

"Gh-... Nghh....!" Mondo sounded. "It would appear you dug your own grave." Kyoko said. "Perhaps, but you handed him the shovel, didn't you? That's why you said what you did." Byakuya spoke. "Ah, so your true intention was to make the culprit make a slip of the tongue, that's why you said you knew who did it. To put them on edge." Celeste understood.
"That's right, however... Mondo was my target all along. I had my suspicions on him all along!" Kyoko said. "But... why? What made him suspicious?" Y/n asked Kyoko. "That's a good question." She paused for a bit, "There was a certain point that tipped me off. Maybe you didn't notice it, Mondo, but you tend to refer to men and women differently." She explained.
"You only call guys 'dude', for girls, it's 'chick'." Kyoko continued to explain, "And after he was killed, you happened to refer to him as 'dude'. Once I picked up on that, it occurred to me that Mondo knew something we didn't."
"Kh..!" Was all that came from Mondo.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
