《beautiful dreamer - t. laurence》chapter twelve

Aunt March walked into the hospital wing of the mansion (why it existed, she had no clue) at precisely 8 o'clock that morning.

"The wedding, Estella." Aunt March took her niece by the wrist, not giving Jo a second glance, and dragged her out of the room, towards the wedding salon, or rather, one of the many living rooms.

The corset was squeezed onto Stella. She looked in the mirror. She'd lost so much weight since panicking about the wedding, and Laurie.

"What are we going to do about the wedding, Aunt March?" Stella asked, her voice so fragile you would have sworn that it was glass.

"We shall have it tomorrow, midday. We can't have it next week due to Josyphine's illness and we have no other day possible."

The corset suddenly became much easier to slip on when Stella sucked in a deep breath.

"Aunt March, I don't want to do it." Stella said, tears in her eyes.

"I don't love Dennis, and he doesn't love me. We've tried, but Teddy and Amy are our true loves. Aunt March, Jo could die. I know she wouldn't want me to be unhappy, why do you?"

Her Aunt March pursed her lips.

"Well that's too bad."

The dress slipped on over Stella's head and the tears slipped down her cheeks. Suddenly, it became awfully hard to breathe, and not because of the corset.

"Stella!" Amy screamed, pushing the doors open.

"Is she okay?"

Amy nodded. "She's okay!" Stella laughed in relief and began crying for joy. Her act was up, and Aunt March would set the wedding back to the planned time.

"Can we extend it back to next week?" She asked her Aunt after a while.

"No. I've already sent the letters."

"What letters?" Amy sked.

"The wedding letters. She's getting married to Dennis tomorrow." Amy nodded and ran off again, tears in her eyes.

Stella looked in the mirror again and saw nothing but a sad woman who longed to marry her Laurie. And her Aunt March, who looked very pleased.

"Now you see why I chose you to marry Dennis?" Aunt March said, her lips nearly twitching into a smile.

"No." Stella responded shortly.

Aunt March sighed.

"You are too stubborn, child. Having a husband will teach you the world of good." Stella laughed bitterly at her Aunts remark.

"You are stubborn as well, Auntie. You cannot say anything against me if you have the same issues."

"I am not stubborn." Aunt March gasped.

"Then let me marry Laurie."

"No."

Stella chuckled darkly, before getting helped out of her dress and into her normal clothes.

"Laurie, go tell everyone in the mansion that Estella and Dennis are getting married tomorrow." Aunt March demanded.

Laurie nodded sadly, much like Amy had, and didn't even wait for Stella.

"You're wicked." Stella exclaimed, thanking the maids for her dress adjustments, although she wished she could just burn the dress, and ran off after her Laurie.

"Teddy!" She caught up with him and he turned, being in the garden when Stella had found him.

"You're getting married tomorrow, Stella! We need more time! We won't be able to pull this off." Laurie cried.

"We will! We have to!" Stella replied, her voice soft and reassuring.

"I know. I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry. It's my fault."

Laurie shook his head, "No it's not," He said, "It's not at all."

Stella wrapped her arms around his shoulders and he wrapped his around her waist.

"I won't marry him. I won't do it, Theo." Stella only called her Laurie 'Theo' if she was being incredibly serious about something— and this was incredibly serious. She pulled away from him and cupped his cheek with her hand, him kissing the palm of it, leaning against it.

She could have sworn her heart melted.

"We've got a plan, and we can do it. Come on, let's go practice." She took his hand and they walked through the mansion as calmly as they possibly could, as to not draw attention.

"Amy. Amy!" Stella called as she knocked on the door of her sisters room.

"They must be in your room, come on." Stella huffed at Laurie's statement. She didn't want to be wasting time, and her room was on the other side of the mansion.

She trudged after Laurie, her spirits dampened and her optimism burned out.

"Hey, what did you tell me earlier? We can do this." Laurie kissed Stella's temple and their shoulders bumped together as they walked towards Stella's room.

"Amy!" Teddy called.

"Coming!"

They heard shuffling and a zip before Amy opened the door, looking very flustered.

"Jesus Christ, Ames, you better have been doing press-ups, I sleep in that bed too. Holy..." Stella walked into the room to find Dennis shirtless (and possibly bottomless as well).

"Get dressed." Teddy demanded, and Dennis nodded after Teddy threw him clothes.

Teddy and Stella stood with their backs to Dennis, although Amy stood staring, and Stella grabbed her shoulders and turned her the other way.

Dennis finally told them they could turn around again, and Stella glared at him.

"Sorry?" Dennis laughed. Stella shook her head and dragged a finger across her neck. Dennis stopped laughing and his eyes widened.

"So, we're getting 'married' tomorrow. We need to plan this throughly. We only have twelve hours." Stella initiated the conversation, and they all immediately leapt into battle. The battle being the wedding plans.

And they were going to figure it out. Because if they didn't, everything would go terribly wrong.
