It had been a few months now since the whole beach incident. Seven to be precise.

Charles had lost the use of his legs and was an a very modern wheelchair. The school was going to begin soon. Alex, Sean and I. The first students. I am interested to meet others like us and see what kind of powers lie out there.

I looked out the window and saw Moira driving away. Charles decided to wipe her memory of this place because it was so important. To wipe her memory of the school. I think Charles was worried her patriotic side would win and she would tell her bosses.

I knew it was hard for Charles so I walked downstairs.

"You didn't have to do that, Professor." He smiled sadly at me.

"And risk your lives." He grinned. "Never." I walked over to him and together we walked through the halls.

"I hear Alex is joining the army." I nodded. My stomach pulled itself into knots.

"Yes. He wants to help. Make a difference. It's weird. I was less scared of him getting hurt when we went to face Shaw." Charles nodded.

"Maybe because this time. Erik isn't there to stop the missile..." I nodded, this was not helping."...but this time there is a whole squadron of men watching his back." He did know how to make me feel better. We stopped walking when we entered the gardens and watched Sean practicing his flying.

"You'll be okay." Huh? "When Alex is gone. You will be okay." He grabbed my hand and squeezed.

"Thanks, Professor X." Charles chuckled.

I walked to Hank's lab and as soon as I got there I hopped up on the table.

"Ready?" I nodded.

After the incident at the beach Hank started to study my blood. We found I had a recessive healing gene.

When I got really angry, the amount of electricity that ran through my body sparked it. Forgive my pun.

We've spent months trying to isolate the gene so that we could try to restore Charles's legs.

I hooked myself up to the machine that sent electricity through me to spark the gene. It hurt a bit. I needed a lot of power. It needed to become stronger so that it could heal his spine.

However Charles had no clue we were doing this. Well I don't think he has a clue.

"3...2...1." Power shot through my body and I gritted my teeth. It was only a few seconds and it stopped.

I looked at Hank confused but then I noticed the dull look in his eyes. Charles.

"What is going on here?" Hank came out of his daze and we both looked at Charles, guiltily.

"We are trying to get your legs back." I finally said after awkward silence.

"I am fine. I will survive in my wheelchair. I don't want you hurting yourself. This stops now." He gave us both a look and we nodded.

He smiled at me. "You guys." He looked at Hank. "You guys safe and in this school is all I hope for." I smiled and went to give him a hug. He squeezed back and left.

"Well. We tried." I patted Hank's back and walked out the lab.
