《Living With The Asshole》Chapter 31

"What a lovely surprise! Come on in, all of you," Cara, Trent's mother invited us in.
All five of us entered the house and were welcomed by the aroma of coffee.
"I've missed you honey," Cara said, pulling me into a hug.
"I've missed you too, Cara," I replied with a smile, hugging her back.
"How have you been?" I asked as I pulled away from her.
"I've been great, honey. Just been busy because of the renovation. How have you been?" she asked.
"I've been good too," I replied, thinking of Aaron. A smile immediately made its way onto my face.
Someone cleared their throat.
"Cole! You've grown up, boy!" Cara exclaimed, although I was sure she must've seen him just a week or two ago.
He laughed in return and hugged her."How's my favorite old lady doing?" he asked with a grin.
"Old? I'm barely a few years older than you."
We all laughed. Cara was such a cute person.
"Well, why don't you introduce me to your other friends?" Cara asked, gesturing towards Aaron and Elena.
"This is Elena and this is-"
"-her boyfriend, Aaron," Cole said.
"Cole!" I hissed.
Cara laughed. "Stop teasing her, Cole."
"What? It's tru-"
"Why don't you all sit down while I help mom get us something to eat? Yeah? Come on," Trent cut in, ushering everyone towards the living room.
I shot him a grateful look and mouthed "thank you".
"Cole, you ..." I let out a string of colourful words the minute Cara was out of earshot.
He laughed."Fine , I'm sorry."
"Sorry? You jerk!" I punched his arm.
He groaned in pain and threw himself on one of the sofas. "It is true though, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is true," Aaron confirmed, planting a kiss on my cheek making me blush and Elena "aww".
"Knew it," Cole said, plopping down. I sat down next to him.
I glanced at Aaron. He was sitting on the couch next to us.
Just then Cara and Trent emerged from the kitchen.
"Here you go. Help yourselves," Cara said as she set steaming mugs of coffee on the table.
Trent came in behind her, with a plate of cookies in one hand and some kind of cake in the other.
After absolutely stuffing ourselves, we all decided to watch a movie.
Trent and I had half a mind to watch a horror movie, just to see Coles' s reaction. Needless to say, the last time we'd watched one together, it had been, for lack of better words, entertaining.
However Cole seemed to have predicted what we had in mind, and quickly chose some random comedy.

Cole, Elena and I sat together with Aaron and Trent on the other couch.
I was disappointed to be away from Aaron, of course. But I sucked it up and tried to concentrate on the movie.
My phone vibrated five minutes into the movie.
I felt a smile make its way onto my face.I glanced at Aaron, who was already looking my way longingly. I felt my heart melt at the way he was looking at me.
I was unable to look away from him, until someone-well, Elena, nudged me.
She gave me a knowing smirk. My eyes widened as I realised that she'd seen us gazing at each other like the lovestruck teenagers that we were.
She let out a small giggle making Cole glance at her questioningly, because the scene that was currently playing on tv wasn't funny in the slightest.
"I always knew she was a bit soft in the head," he mock whispered to me which resulted in him getting a smack upside the head from Elena.
"Shut up and watch the movie," she scolded him.
I chuckled, thinking about how they'd make a cute couple.
My phone vibrated again and my attention was back on Aaron.
He had texted, and I rolled my eyes.
He replied instantly.
My cheeks flushed.
If I was blushing earlier, my face was on fire now. I wasn't used to anyone saying such things to me. Ever since I, well, we had admitted that we liked each other, we hadn't really done or said much about it. This was a step forward.
I replied, not knowing what else to say.
I cracked up at that.
Before I could reply, Cole spoke up making me look up."If you two are done sexting, can we leave?" he said, looking at me.
My eyes widened in shock."Cole!" I gasped as I felt my cheeks turn red.
My eyes met Aaron's for a brief moment and he looked surprised too but he covered it up quickly with a laugh.
"What? It's obvious you're sexting," he rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms behind his head.
"You really lack manners," Elena said, disapprovingly.
"Oh,what gave it away?" Cole asked sarcastically."Anyways, I should get going. I have to work on an assignment due tomorrow."
I suddenly remembered I had an essay to write too. Gosh, that was going to take ages.
"I should get going too," I said, getting up.
"Let's go then," Cole said and we all thanked Cara and Trent before leaving.
As I was going to my room, I was dragged into the nearby room which just happened to be Aaron's.
I found myself staring into his hazel orbs as the door slammed shut behind us. I felt a sense of dejá vù. It was like the first time we'd met all over again.

"What?" I breathed as he moved closer to me closing the space between our bodies.
"This," he whispered, stroking my cheek with his hand.
My breath hitched. He leaned in when suddenly the door opened and since I was standing right in front of it, it painfully pushed me forward so that I fell on top of Aaron on the floor.
"Shit, I'm so sorry!" Amanda exclaimed as I attempted to get up.
"God, do you always have to do this?"
Aaron snapped at her as we got up.
Amanda who looked guilty, apologised and quickly left us alone again.
"You okay?" he asked softly.
I nodded. "You?"
"Never been better," he chuckled and pulled me against his chest before wrapping his arms around me.
"You really don't know how many times I've done this in my head," he whispered, almost inaudibly.
I wrapped my arms around his back too, savouring the moment.
He slowly pulled me back and yet again and kept his hand on the small of my back. I found myself staring into his eyes.
Up close, he looked a hundred times cuter. I felt like running my hands through his hair-it looked so soft. I didn't want to seem like a creep though, so I just kept my hands where they were.
We stood like that for a while and Aaron finally spoke, and what he said gave me a mini heart attack."Can I kiss you, Ashley?"
My heart started beating like crazy in anticipation for what was going to be our second kiss. Well, third kiss if you count the first time he kissed me at the party.
I leaned closer to him."Yes," I replied,my voice a mere whisper.
As his lips pressed against mine, I suddenly realised that it was complete and utter crap when people said that you feel butterflies in your stomach.
You feel like there is something much stonger...like crabs maybe?- Yeah, I suppose that would sum it up- yet, somehow, it is the most beautiful feeling in the whole world.
He gently held my face in his hands and kissed me. I kissed him back,my hands going around his neck.
When we finally pulled away, I felt myself grinning like a fool and the look on Aaron's face pretty much mirrored mine.
Those amazing dimples of his were showing again, and I found myself staring at him.
God, was I ever going to get enough of this?
Aaron smiled at me,looking straight into my eyes and I swear, my heart seemed to stop beating for a moment.
How could he be so amazing?

I felt my eyes drooping. It was freaking two in the morning and I still hadn't finished my essay that was due tomorrow. What with all the...stuff going on with Aaron, I'd had no time to.
"Why are you still up?" Joanna's voice suddenly said, making me sit up quickly.
I quickly explained the situation to her.
"Oh, poor thing. Do you still have a lot to do?" she asked.
I nodded, rubbing my fingers over my eyes groggily."Yeah."
"I'll get you some coffee then. You're lucky I just got up to go the toilet," she smiled warmly at me.
"Oh,no, just go back to sleep, Jo," I said, not wanting to keep her up.
"I'll make her some coffee," Aaron suddenly appeared at my door.
He looked so good.He wore a plain white tee and his hair was messier than usual. But somehow he managed to look so,so good.
How did he do that?
Joanna laughed."No, that's okay. I'll do it."
"C'mon Jo, I insist."
"Alright then, goodnight you two.",Joanna said, stifling a yawn as she went back to her room.
I looked at Aaron. He smirked. I found myself smiling back at him.
"So you really up for that coffee?"
I opened my mouth to say yes but he continued,"cause I had better things in mind," he winked at me.
"Aaron, you creep!" I laughed and threw a pillow at him as I realised what he was hinting at.
"Just kidding!" he chuckled, catching the pillow effortlessly."I'll be right back with the coffee," he said and turned around.
"And then maybe we can do other stuff, too," he added, winking at me over his shoulder.
I gasped and grabbed another pillow to throw at him but he was out before I got to throw it at him.
Shaking my head in disbelief, I smiled to myself. I remembered our kiss a few hours back and grinned, touching my lips.
Sighing contentedly, I started typing away at my laptop, writing whatever popped in my mind.
"Coffee's here," he announced aa he entered my room, shutting the door with his foot.
I smiled as he handed me a mug of steaming hot coffee."Thanks,Aaron," I said as I set it on the table.
"Anything for you, Ashy," he smiled.
We just sat there for a while smiling at each other like idiots.
I knew I should be working on my essay , but I couldn't bring myself to look away from him.
He was too cute to look away from. Too perfect.
Oh boy, I was screwed.
