The doctor's office is a cold place.

Always freezing.

It make Destiny feel like she's dead already. Her fingertip touched the smooth, polished wood surface. It reflected her disgusting visage back at her. Bags under her eyes. Thin body that made her look like she would fall apart at any second.

She wasn't completely useless. She has pretty, fair, and slight tanned skin. It was unfortunately growing paler due to lack of sun. Her eyes were a rare black that reflected grey in the light. Not to mention, her hair was a striking platinum blonde. It stood out in the small town.

She was born with that hair color. Her grandmother said that she may be albino. She didn't believe it although.

"Are you here for me?" A soft, husky voice questioned. She turned and she saw the most pretty gold eyes. Was that a natural human eye color?

She cast the thought away "Um, yes. Are you Dr. Cullen?"

He flashed her a smile that made her heart skip a few beats "Call me Carlisle. Would you like to follow me to my office?"

"Yes. Thank you." She added after a pause.

"No need to thank me." He opened the door for her and she instantly relaxed. The warmth was almost suffocating but not uncomfortable. Like a tight hug.

"What brings you here?" He asks flipping through pages in his clip board.

"I have lung cancer. It is unknown how long I will live without treatment so..."

His smile slowly dropped into a firm grimace. "I see."

"Well. My friend, Charlie, he's also the police chief, Told me that you might be able to do an angel's work and cure me."

He chuckles again. "I wouldn't say an angel's work but, I may be able to do something. Let's get you checked out."

She hopped up on the bed and he grabs his stethoscope. He places it against her chest.

"Ok, deep breath." She takes a deep breath rolling her shoulders in the process. He moves it to another spot and she repeats.

"Ok, I need you to lift you shirt for a moment." A blush spread across her face and he quickly added "It's only for medical purpose. I won't be looking at anything."

She nods and lifts her shirt to show her back. The cool stethoscope followed and he makes a noise under his breath.

"Something wrong?" She asked tensing a bit.

"Are you a smoker?" She fiddled uncomfortably. She had done everything that she could to hide it.

"It helped me cope with the stress of my death sentence. Haven't done it in a bit though." She lied fluently.

"When were you informed?"

"At 16, I skipped 2 grades and a college sent me a huge scholarship. I passed out after almost suffocating to death in my shock. I woke up and they said that I had stage 1 moving into stage 2 cancer. My parents refused treatment and decided to rely in god."

Carlisle gave her a sympathetic look but otherwise stayed silent so she continued.

"My scholarship got revoked after I couldn't go to school and keep my grades up. I got illnesses easily. They came like a plague after I was diagnosed. I blamed my parents. If I had just gotten help... I was given a time period for my death at 18. It was supposed to be at 20, then 23, now it's unknown. I stopped going to the doctor. I was told that at stage 3 by my family to just live out my last days somewhere." She breathes in deeply attempting to stop the burning in her eyes. Carlisle lowered her shirt and nods pulling some tissues for her.

She reaches for them grazing his hand.

"Woah, shit." She yelped before the tissues fell to the ground. They both mutter an apology before bending down to pick up the tissue. They butt heads making Destiny wince.

"I'm sorry. Fuck, I'm so awkward." She looks away. He just laughed and got her a fresh sheet of tissue. She wiped her eyes and looked up at him.

"We may need to do a CT scan to see how severe. We should schedule that. See what we're up against." He said teasingly with a bright grin and she realized again how charming he was.

"Ok. What days can we do that?"

"You will need go to Seattle. I will not be able to do that here. I will send the appointment request and we can schedule on the free days." He wrote it down on his clip board.

"So, we're done here?" She asked and he nodded.

"For now. We will meet again when the CT is done. I will be awaiting your arrival, Miss. Destiny." The blonde woman blushed rushing from the room. The blood seemed to pump underneath her skin giving her cheeks a pulse.

-----Play song here----

"Oh, fuck. I need to meet Charlie." She ran down the stairs of the hospital. The sky was cloudy like normal. The trees released their woodsy scent all over the town. It was riveting.

Destiny jumped into her car. She turned her key and sped down the road. Forks past in a blur as she dances to the radio. Something about today made her happier, put her in mood to dance.

She pulled into Charlie's lawn honking her horn. He comes outside and she rolls down her window.

"Get in, Loser. We're going shopping." She shouted. He rolls his eyes similar to a teenage girl. References weren't above Destiny. They typically just came out when she was in a good mood.

"Really. Mean girl references. You must be in a good mood." She stuck her tongue out and that's when a girl came out of his house. She has pretty redish brown hair and a pretty baby face.

"Destiny, this is my daughter, Bella. Bella, this is Destiny."

Bella looks up "Nice to meet you, Destiny. It's good knowing someone is looking out for Charlie."

"Trust me. Charlie is definitely looking out for me more." The blonde grinned. Bella smiled back.

"Do you go to school here?" She asked. Destiny laughed shaking her head.

"No, I'm just a really petite 23 year old." She refered to her height of 5'1".

"Oh, my mistake." She rushed to correct herself with a blush. Destiny shook her head.

"It's fine. It just makes me feel younger." She teased and Bella giggled herself as Destiny looked at her over her sunglasses.

"Well, Bella is going to Forks Highschool. Hopefully, you might be able to help her with, you know, girl stuff."

Destiny sent him a wink and a nudge "Of course. I'll tell her the secret to make the men fall at her feet."

Bella looked genuinely interested "The secret to make men fall at your feet?"

Destiny winks and turns off her car. Charlie opens the door for her and she gets out.

"When are you going to come back to work? The office has missed you during this leave." Charlie asks pulling in his cooler of fish. Bella grimaces at the smell.

"I'm debating on quiting. I can live off the land." Work was a hassle for her since she couldn't run. She needed a partner at all times.

"But can you live without your wifi." She thought about his words. The blonde had a wifi addiction.

"You're right. I would only survive a few hours." He shakes his head. She was always a delight in his day despite being as obsessed with technology as a teenager. She would fish with him and Billy every now and again. A down to earth girl.

"Well, if you need help, my door is always open."

"Thanks, Charlie." She kisses his cheek and hugs him tightly. He returns her hug and you could see Bella with a smile on her face.

"It's good to see Charlie move on from mom."

"M-Move on." She choked on spit. The thought of her and Charlie dating sent a pang of fear through her heart.

"Bella. We aren't dating."

The brunette seemed to frown at that "You guys have chemistry. Too bad." With that out there, she went to her room.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know she would..." Destiny shook her head.

"It's fine, Charlie." She looks away "If I could, I would." She muttered under her breath but then the mental picture of the charming doctor popped into her head.

"Yea with your condition... I can't lose another wife. It would hurt me worse than losing a friend-" He paused when he saw her upset face.

"I understand, Charlie. I have a shift to work. Somewhere."

"Wait, Destiny- I'll see you in the office, Charlie." And with that she left.

Why was she so hurt by that statement? It was common knowledge.

She drove down the road looking back in the mirror to see Charlie standing miserably in the rain.

"I'm sorry, Charlie. I'm a terrible person for doing this."
