Me: What's up Killua?
Killua: Um, can I sleep with you?
Me: Of course!
I guess I must have scared him because he flinched a bit. He walks in shutting the door behind him and sits on my bed. I lay back down facing the door he lays down facing the wall.
Killua: Gon?
Me: Yeah?
Killua: Do you think Hisoka will tell Illumi where we are?
Me: Probably not, why?
Killua: Just wondering
Me: Ok then
I close my eyes and fall asleep but in the middle of the night I woke up to Killua screaming. I sit up and turn on a light. I looked over and he was sweating. I look at him confused.
Me: Killua what's wrong?
Killua: *breathing heavily*
Me: Did you just run a marathon or something, your dripping sweat
Killua: It was just a nightmare that's all
Me: What was it about?
Killua: Well you were there and so was Illumi and Hisoka
Me: Ok? What happened?
Killua: Well we were here but swimming in the pool and next thing I remember is looking over at you and the pool water was red. I quickly got out of the pool and looked around, I saw Illumi on the roof holding his needles. I jump back into the pool and pull you out. You had stopped breathing and was bleeding a lot. I panicked and ran after Illumi then I woke up
Me: Oh
Killua: Sorry I woke you though
Me: It's ok
I put my arm around his waist and lay my head on his chest. He calms his breathing down and falls asleep. I hate seeing him like this. I miss the old Killua, the one who always laughed and smiled. But Illumi took that from him. My goal is to make Killua happy again!

The next morning I woke up still in Killua. I sit up and rub my eyes. I look out the window and see the sun shining on me. I jump out of bed and change my clothes. I wear a pair of shorts with a basic t-shirt. I walked downstairs to the kitchen where Kurapika was cooking.
Me: Whatcha making?
Kurapika: Eggs
Me: Yum can I have some!
Kurapika: Sure
He grabs two plates and puts the eggs on them. I make some toast and we each start eating.
Kurapika: *takes a bite* So how'd you sleep last night?
Me: Well it was good until Killua screamed
Kurapika: I heard that, what happened? Did he fall out of bed or something?
Me: No he had a nightmare
Kurapika: About what?
Me: I don't really remember
Leorio: Good morning everyone
Me: Morning Leorio! *smiles*
Leorio: What day is it?
Kurapika: It's Saturday
Leorio: Sweet I don't have to go to work *smiles*
Leorio makes himself a waffle and sits down with me and Kurapika.
Leorio: Where's Killua?
Me: Sleeping
Leorio: Where? He isn't in his- Oh nevermind *laughs*
Me: Yup he slept in my room
Kurapika: Aw *smiles*
Me: *laughs*
Everyone finishes eating. I brush my teeth and head back to my room. I walk in and see that Killua is still sleeping. I grin and get a running start and jump on him. He sits up and looks at me.

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
