《Love on Top》Ch.25

It had been two days since Samuel left for his trip to London. Dave, Cristian, and I were juust staying at his house until he got back. Samuel didn't really mind that I was staying over at his house. He said, and I quote, 'it'll be nice to come home to you'. I was sitting on Samuel's bed reading a book while Dave and Cristian were either lying on the floor or chewing on one of their chew toys. The doorbell rings and I get up to answer it. When I got downstairs, I opened the front door. I see Sidney standing at the door. I glared at her.

"How in the hell did you find this house?" I hissed.

"I have connections," She answered.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"I just wanted to have a little chat with you," She smiled.

"Like I'd believe that bullshit, Sidney," I murmured.

"I'm serious, Daphne. I just want to make amends for the horrible things I said about you," She murmured.

"Come in," I said.

"Thank you." She smiled sweetly. She walked into the house and her heels clicked on the floor.

"What a huge house. Being a CEO sure does have its perks" She commented.

"Okay, Sidney. What do you want? Make it fast," I said.

"Won't even allow your guest to sit down," She mumbled.

"Coming into this house was privilege but if you want to sit, then the floor looks mighty comfortable for someone of your caliber," I replied.

"Rude," She muttered.

"I'm rude? Please. Don't start with me, Sidney," I snapped.

"Look. I didn't come here to argue. I just want to talk to you," She said.

"Then talk," I clenched my teeth.

"Why did I even try? I thought that I could do this, but I can't. I can't apologize to someone as fat and pathetic as you. I mean come on. Who in their right mind would have the balls to apologize to you? You're fat, you're ugly, and I don't know how you managed to even get a man like Samuel," She said. I knew the whole 'her apologizing' thing was a fluke. Apologizing isn't Sidney's thing.

"He probably took pity upon the sad, pathetic fat girl. I would if I were him," She added.

"Sidney, get out. Just get the fuck out of here! You are a spoiled rotten beast who is insensitive to the feelings of others, including your own siblings. If you think that I'm sad and pathetic then you have another thing coming because the only pathetic one I see is you," I snapped.

"Pathetic? I'm far from it," She scoffed.

"You think you are, but you're not. You are the biggest bitch I have ever met in my life and I hope that some day you will find the happiness you need to quit making people so miserable," I snapped.

"I'm only-"

"SHUT UP!" I yelled. She looked at me in surprise. I breathe in deeply then I exhaled before regaining my composure.

"You say you're trying to help me, but all you have done is bring me down. You and Mother always brought me down. You two never let me have a moment of happiness without any worries about being judged. It's like I had chains on me every single day of my life as you guys pulled me down into the depths of misery and bitterness," I explained.

"What kind of bullshit are you spouting right now?" Sidney asked.

"It isn't bullshit, Sidney. This is how I felt every single day of my life because of you and Mother. You guys were trying to make me as miserable and bitter as you are now," I hissed.

"Bitter? Miserable? You've been defying Mother's wishes for so long that you don't even know how much we want to help you live a life filled with luxury and comfort as the wife of a prestigious lawyer," She said.

"I don't care about those things at all. In fact, if Samuel was poor, I wouldn't give a damn because I would still love him just the way he is no matter what," I responded.

"You love him? Aww. You honestly think that he reciprocates those same feelings for you? If I were him, then I wouldn't because having a fat, ugly, boring, whale for a wife is like setting yourself up for failure," She tells me.

"Samuel does reciprocate those feelings, Sidney," I hissed.

"Yeah right. You're more of an embarrassment to him, Daphne. Anyone can see that. That man will never love you. Honestly, no man will. Just look at you. You are a disgrace, an abomination," She snapped. I walked over and struck her hard across the face. Her head snapped sideways. She looked at me and then tried to attack me, but Dave growled and barked ferociously at her with Cristian by his side. She backed away from me.

"So you have these mutts fighting your own battles? You are clearly more pathetic than I thought," She spat venomously.

"I didn't do anything to make them like that. I guess you can say that they don't like you," I replied.

"You will regret messing with me, Daphne. I'll make sure you suffer, you bitch!" She screeched before scurrying out of the house. Once the front door slammed closed, I looked down at Dave and Cristian then I petted their heads.

"Good job," I smiled. I went to the door and then I locked it. I went upstairs towards the kitchen and I looked in the fridge. I'll just cook tonight. I honestly don't have the funds to go get something for take out. In fact, I have five dollars in my wallet right now. Sad right? At least Samuel had enough ingredients for me to make what I want for dinner. I'll just cook enough for today and tomorrow for myself. Yeah. That's a good plan. I went straight to Pinterest and looked up dinner ideas. I finally found something that won me over. I decided to make Orange and Balsamic Grilled Chicken Lettuce Wraps. This would would be good. I pushed up the sleeves of my hoodie and then I got started on preparing the food.

As I was chopping vegetables, my phone rang. I stopped and decided to answer it. I put the phone between my ear and shoulder.

"Hey, Sam," I greeted.

"Daphne, I just saw on my security feed of the house that your sister came over. Is everything alright?" He asked.

"Yeah it's fine. We just had a friendly chat," I answered.

"Daphne, you're clenching your teeth. I know you're lying," He said worriedly.

"Fine. She came under the pretense of having just a friendly chat with me, but that was a straight up," I informed him.

"What happened?" He asked.

"She said that she want to apologize to me, but I knew that that wasn't true at all. In fact, all she wanted to do was tell me that she was only trying to 'help me' all those years," I responded.

"Well did anything else happen?" He queried.

"After she said that, she told me that I was a disgrace and an embarrassment to you, but I ended up slapping her in the face. She tried to attack me, but Dave almost bit her," I responded. He chuckled.

"Well I guess this means that Dave is as protective of you as me," He said.

"Yeah he is," I smiled. I decided put him on speaker as I cooked.

"Aside from my family drama, how did the handshake thing go?" I asked.

"It actually went well. We actually got the deal so now my company can strive even more," He answered.

"That's great, baby," I replied.

"Thanks, Daphne," He said.

"You're welcome. So does this mean that you're coming home early?" I asked.

"Yes it does. So be waiting for me," He answered.

"Should I be waiting in clothes or no clothes?" I said.

"WH-WHAT?!" He exclaimed loudly. I giggled.

"I'm kidding, Samuel. Calm down," I smiled.

"How cruel. Here I was with a gift from London that I low you'll love and you decide to play a cruel joke on me," He sighed.

"A gift? Ooh! What is it?" I asked excitedly.

"Oh no. It's not for you anymore," He answered.

"Samuel, you are a cruel man," I pouted.

"Thank you," He said.

"I wonder if your mother would like to hear that you are being mean to me," I murmured.

"I wonder how your grandmother would like to hear that you are being mean to me," He countered.

"Touché," I muttered. He chuckled.

"So what are you doing right now?" He asked.

"I'm cooking," I answered.

"What are you cooking?" He asked.

"Orange & Balsamic Grilled Chicken Lettuce Wraps," I responded.

"Really?" He queried.

"Mhm," I replied.

"I wish I was there to eat it," He said.

"Well maybe when you get back, I'll make it for you," I said.

"That would be great," He replied.

"So what are you doing right now?" I asked.

"Laying in bed," He yawned.

"What time is it over there?" I questioned.

"It's three in the morning over here," Hs yawned again.

"Sam, you didn't need to stay up all night just to call me," I said.

"I know, but I just wanted to hear your voice, Daphne. Is that so wrong?" He replied.

"No it isn't, but don't do that next time or else you'll mess up your sleeping pattern," I said.

"I'll go to sleep after we finish talking," He tells me.

"No, Sam. You got to sleep now and I'll talk to you when I see you tomorrow," I said.

"Fine," He yawned again.

"Thanks, Sam," I replied.

"Yeah yeah," He said, "Goodnight, Daphne."

"Goodnight, Sam. Love you," I said. I quickly hung up the phone once I realized what I had just said. Oh crap. Good job, Daphne.
