I cry into my pillow.
Do you?
Does the pillow get sick of people crying into it? Does it ever complain to itself about how much it hates being soaked in tears? And maybe, what if, it understands?
It sees right through the tears, knows what were crying about? Even if we ourselves don't know.
What about when we dream?
Does it see that as well?
What if we're having a particularly scary dream, is that the reason why I sometimes wake up for no reason during a nightmare? Because my pillow doesn't want me to endure the nightmare anymore? Maybe it cares. Who knows.
But, we wouldn't know, because we're not pillows.
Yes. I know. Pillows aren't living things. But who knows. Maybe they are.
