《Falcon || Jurassic World》Eight

Owen pulls Claire onto an old quad bike and I streak along beside him, terror singing in my veins and a fight boiling in my blood. The Indominus has killed many people, and she won't listen. She threatened Owen!
I squawk angrily, hissing at myself in frustration. I had done nothing but stall her for a brief moment, and while it had spared Owen and his strange, annoying woman, it had done absolutely nothing else.
I'm cut out for this. I'm too weak, too-
"Falcon," Owen calls from the bike, taking one hand of the handles to click at me. "C'mon, keep with me."
I chirp at him, my steps faltering slightly. "I'm sorry."
He manages a strained smile, even as Claire squeaks slightly and holds on a bit tighter. My disdain for her shoots up a few notches. "We'll be fine, alright?"
I gnash my teeth. Right, he can't understand me. "You're annoying sometimes."
"We'll be fine."
It sounds like a promise.
.
I don't hesitate to follow Owen into the hordes of people who screech and flee in terror as pterodactyls swoop and sweep through them, stabbing and grabbing and hurting. I hurtle past Owen and Claire and the other silly humans in their strange clothing, and just start tearing into whatever flying dinosaurs I can find.
For some reason, the screaming seems to double.
I grab one by the wing and fling it into the ground, growling at its face as it tries to stab its beak into my neck. I rip its head off.
Turns out chewing up pterodactyls is great anger management.
I hear Owen shout and turn just in time to see him get attacked by one of the flying demons. I snarl, but something spears into my side before I can help and I whimper as I stagger. An angry pterodactyl advances, its beak dripping with blood. My blood, I realise.

It doesn't get very far before it crumples.
Claire nods at me as she lowers the in and starts gushing over two boys. They're scents are familiar. These must be the important boys Owen was searching for. Huh, they don't look like much.
I turn back to the fray only to find the humans seem to have it handled. My flank heaves with my breathes. Blood spills down my side and I whine. Damn, I should get all the treats for this.
"Falcon!" Owen calls, and I look to him. He waves me over.
The several humans I walk past to get to my Alpha whiten with fear and shy away.
Huh, I wonder why.
"I'd like to sleep now," I say crossly, sniffing Owen carefully. He's dirty, but uninjured as far as I can tell. "You and your dinosaur problems, honestly."
"I'm alright," he chuckles, pushing my head away.
One of the boys exhales shakily. "That's a raptor," he says stupidly.
I snort, before moving toward him and tilting my head. "That's a human," I mock. He just backs up a step into the other taller boy, who's eyes are wide and panicked. He wraps a protective arm around the younger boys chest and I snort again. Silly humans.
"This is Falcon," Owen says, coming up beside me and resting his hand on my side, very close to the puncture wound from the flying terrors. He doesn't seem to notice. "She's one of my raptors."
The younger boy bites his lip. "Can she...understand us?" He asked slowly.
"I'm not stupid," I huff indignantly.
"Yes," Owen says. "She's a hybrid. They mixed raptor DNA with human DNA, so she can understand us. She's very intelligent and very loyal." He smiles fondly. "She's my baby girl."

I butt him with my head gently. "Alpha."
Claire, of course, interrupts the moment, just as the younger boy was reaching a hand out. "Lowery," she says to the phone. "I'm on my way to you." Whatever this Lowery fellow says makes her squint in confusion. "What do you mean, use the raptors?"
Owen's face pales. "Son of a bitch," he curses.
"You shouldn't say bitch," the younger boy says and I laugh. He gives me a startled look. I just blink back at him.
Owen sucks in a long breath, trying to calm down. "Falcon," he says tightly. "Go find Barry. Find Blue and the others. Be careful."
I rumble an affirmative before turning away and running.
It aggravates my side, and I resist the urge to roar in agony as the sudden movement causes my injury to tear even more. More blood spills down my side and I discreetly try to rub it off as I move. If the Indominus smells it...
I find Barry with Blue and the others, petting them gently as they huff in their muzzles. I chirp at him and he turns to me, scent drenched in amazement. "Falcon," he breathes, rushing over. "You're okay?"
"Owen's coming," I tell him, and my siblings. "He's coming."
Barry just sighs.
I move over to my siblings, and their eyes go wide as they struggle to get to me.
"Stop," I whistle. "You'll hurt yourselves." It takes a moment, but they do and I take a moment to calm down. The pain in my side is almost unbearable, but I focus on ignoring it.
"Ah, the delinquent one."
I hate this man.
I snap at Hoskins as he tries to touch me, and he draws back immediately, eyes darkening into something dangerous. "Psychopath," I hiss angrily.
His eyes narrow. "I'll deal with you later." He moves over to my siblings, and it's only Barry's warning look that keeps me at bay. Barry is not my Alpha, but he is Owen's friend. Owen would be upset if I were to ignore Barry.
But I will end fat man if he tries to mess with my siblings.
Except I lose all interest in the situation in front of me as I scent Owen. "Alpha!" I cry.
"The mother hen has finally arrived," Hoskins mutters. I bare my teeth.
"Get the hell out of here and Tay away from my animals," Owen seethes, and I move towards him, keeping eye contact with Hoskins as he tracks my movement. Except he smells smug and I'm confused.
Claire starts speaking and I immediately stop listening, even as Owen gets into an argument with fat man, even when my siblings are mentioned. The pain in my side is pretty much the only thing in focus, and it's sharp and stabbing and I just want it to stop.
Until-
"You might wanna check your filthy hybrid too," Hoskins sneers and I take a flattering step forward. "It's broken. Maybe you should replace it." Owen frowns. "This is happening, Grady, with or without you."
But Owen's attention is on me now, and the blood that's plastered to my flank. "Falcon," he whispered. "When-how-"
"Owen," I say, and it's barely a clicking sound in my throat. Blue starts thrashing in her muzzle.
Owen shouts something to someone, but I'm tired, and heavy, and I want it to stop hurting. Then, there's something cold in my neck and I am falling, falling, falling-
I hit the ground and don't feel anymore.

Flap Merganser: Space Duck
This story began as joke to troll some dude on reddit, but I fell in love with the premise and kind of went crazy writing without any direction or planning. Luckily for me, I spent a couple months convinced I was dying and stepped away from the project. I'm not dying by the way, at least not any more than in the traditional sense. But during that period of inner turmoil, I was able to step back and realize I wasn't too thrilled with the direction this was going. So I have relaunched this project under the name Duck Around and Find Out. Some elements will be the same, and some early chapters may be pretty close to what was in the original draft, but I wanted to get into the action with a bit more haste. That being said, I'm going to leave this up here for now so that you can see how this whole project started. So read it if you want to. Or don't. I don't really care. I'm just happy I don't actually have a terminal cancer.

The Head That Wears The Crown
It's a tale as old as time. Boy goes to funeral. Boy gets sucked into a different world. Boy has to lead a settlement. Boy has to lead a settlement? Boy has to lead a settlement. This is a story about that settlement, and some other stuff. Maybe. Disclaimer: Not sure if it qualifies enough for a gore tag. There is a description of someone's death somewhere in this, but I don't think it is descriptive enough to justify a gore tag. Disclaimer part deux: I initially started writing this as background for another story but got so into it I just ended fleshing it out a bit. Disclaimer part tres: People love reading disclaimers don't they? It's why I've included so many. They're just for you. Disclaimer part four: I know, this is getting egregious. You're starting to find it less funny. Just wait till the twentieth disclaimer, it will start being funny again. Disclaimer part five: I'm kidding, this is the last one. I don't promise I'll read every comment or message, but I certainly welcome your feedback. Disclaimer part six: I lied, it wasn't the last one. I wrote this story without breaking it down into chapters. It just goes, that means that the chapter ends when it ends, not when there is a convenient break in the story. That means that it's very annoying for you as a reader since chapters can end mid sentence. Hah! Sucker! Disclaimer part seven: Get ready for slow updates. Who knows when this will continue. Toss it on read later and come back in fifty years. Disclaimer part eight: Cover Photo by Arthur Ogleznev on Unsplash

REAL
An ancient hunchback named Finnel is the principal of a school where students’ special abilities might be called magical, supernatural powers. Or, maybe those students’ heightened attributes are more like honed talents any ordinary person could discover and dedicate to developing. Either way, at Finnel's school, even the most otherworldly of traits always finds its source in something REAL . . . in actual human capacities, like intuition, empathy, awareness, strength... REAL is a series of ongoing tales, each centered around an individual student at Finnel's school. Framing slice-of-life authenticity with cool powers and uplifting humor, REAL maintains a light, fun tone while never shying away from digging down deep into weighty themes like identity, connection, and meaning.

Try Reincarnation, They Said. It Would Be Fun, They Said.
A young man dies saving his friend from a truck. His soul floats away, where he is then left to drift in endless darkness. He wishes for strength and power, the rights held by the strong. Unexpectedly, he finds his wish granted, and he reincarnates as the force of the universe known as qi. However, God realizes that he screwed the hell up and tries to fix his mistake, only to realize it too late. Out of options, he imprisons the MC on the lowest-ranking planet in the entire multiverse. What happens now? “Don’t I just get super OP?” That comes later MC. This is my first fiction and I'd greatly appreciate criticism. Feel free to let me know any problems you have with my story and any suggestions you may have. Updates are once a week, but will vary in dates. However, you can (most likely) expect a chapter once every week. I may miss a week, but I will make sure to make it up to you by giving you another chapter in a different week. This is also hosted on my website: Lonely Writing. Currently on Hiatus due to personal reasons.
