STORY FACTS, DELETED SCENES & AUTHOR BARF!

Hey everyone! WE REACHED 100K! AAHHH I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO EXCEPT INCOHERENTLY SPLUTTER THANK YOU OVER AND OVER LSKDJKALSJD

I thought I'd give some extra content to celebrate 100K reads. I started out very small, not even knowing when I would even publish this story. I have never had as much fun as I do while writing this, so here goes - some unknown facts about the story, its characters and myself.

• Margaret was supposed to be nicknamed Meg, then I switched to Maggie; before Fred and George said Nah, Margie it is.

• Margaret was supposed to end up in Slytherin - despite this being scrapped, I think her character has some Slytherin qualities which is a nod to her Pottermore house.

• Some of you might've noticed that Margaret's age was initially 17. This was because the book was supposed to start from Year 4 Goblet of fire, and Margaret was supposed to be in her 6th year with Fred, George, Lee Jordan and Angelina Johnson. The plot would've been a whole lot different too.

• When I switched to Year 5 instead and changed Margaret's age, Harry Potter was going to be the main love interest. This still served as an inspiration for their scene in chapter where Margaret tells him:

"War or no war, Harry. You won't be alone."

She will make sure of that.

She originally said this even earlier in the story but this wasn't meant to be romantic. It could've been a start of a friendship that may have led to romance. This was before I decided the story wasn't going to centre around Romance at all, no matter what pairing.

• Markus was supposed to be two and a half years older than Margaret - scrapped this immediately. In fact, Markus's character was never planned, he appeared when I was writing the opening scene in and you can see I didn't even have a name for him when he appeared.

• A duo I did plan on having was Margaret and Draco. That... didn't happen. Here's a scene I wrote back in December 2019 when the book wasn't even published, may you enjoy the cringe:

• Speaking of Margaret, she was supposed to be quiet but keen. The sassiness was also her own doing. A cut from Margaret's thoughts & wise inner monologues:

Ah... Assitant to the Inquisitorial Squad. A very important and worthwhile responsibility. One that could change lives, make flowers bloom, make your skin glow and complete your homework! It also sounded like a badly written Tumblr ad but she wasn't surprised.

Either way, Margaret was absolutely glowing with pride to have the green and silver badge, it totally did not clash with her Gryffindor robes!

I swear my characters want to call my own writing out.

• In chapter it was supposed to be a scene where Margaret meets James and Lily Potter. They, instead of Death, explain to her all about dimensional travelling and Death's reality. The scene, originally 4000 words long, was cut because there was a lot to be explained and I didn't want it all to seem out of place.

• And FINALLY a question nobody asked: why was Margaret specifically hit by lightning?!

Well, I've decided to answer it anyway.

The answer to this lies in the Harry Potter series, namely the protagonist himself - Harry Potter. And yes, I'm talking about his lightning-shaped scar.

It definitely is not the most obvious thing to pick up on, very few people have ever asked Jo why she made Harry's scar lightning-shaped in the first place. With everything that she has brilliantly crafted for Harry's story, I don't think she made his scar appear like that because it was cool or because the wand movement for the Killing Curse was zippity-zap. There are many, many theories out there and I'm sure in one of the thousands of interviews, she gave a clear answer to it as well, but my interpretation of lightning in the story of Harry Potter is a bit different... kind of.

Stick with me here for a second. There are only a few mentions of 'lightning' in the series, two of the most notable being Harry's scar and The Lightning Struck Tower which is the title of the chapter in which Dumbledore dies. Both of these instances are heavily related to death:

Harry is the only wizard ever to survive the Killing Curse and Dumbledore literally dies in the given instance by the Killing Curse.

Lightning is mentioned otherwise in the series, of course. Taking movies for example, when Voldemort gains possession of the Elder wand and summons this really powerful bit of lightning to... show off, I guess?

Coming back to Margaret and relating the very important, if not personified, version of Death in this story and the passage through it - what did it have to do with the fact that she 'died' particularly by lightning?

It is because lightning is related to death in the Harry Potter universe.... except that isn't just what it's related to.

Let me ask you this - what is the most important thing that saved Harry's life?

Love. The lightning itself represents not just death, but also love.

It was Lily's love and sacrifice that saved Harry in the first place. If he had not survived, he wouldn't have had a single mark left by the Killing Curse on his body. Relating this to Dumbledore's death in The Lightning Struck Tower also, he planned this with Snape who was loyal to Dumbledore and agreed to this in the first place because of his love for Lily, and because he had grown to care for Harry to some extent. Even if it didn't make him a great person, he was willing to sacrifice ever living a normal life again when he killed the most powerful wizard in existence. And Voldemort? His greatest fatal flaw was that he never understood love or the concept of self-sacrifice.

Hence why I chose lightning in particular - Margaret's powers surfaced at 14 after being struck by lightning something that could have potentially killed her; she sacrificed her old life to gain a new one in the Wizarding world; and her love for the characters made her mission clear to her from the very first day that she arrived, no questions asked.

Mind-blown yet? Wait for it:

This also takes into consideration that Trelawney had predicted these events of the future. And guess who else has seen tomorrow?

• There are 293,529 words in the story, which is longer than the longest Harry Potter book.

• Wait... I need a moment... Deep breaths... deep breaths... Right okay, next.

• The book wasn't supposed to be published until late 2020 - I published it on a whim, and I'm so glad I did.

• The title - The Girl Who Saw Tomorrow - is inspired by an 80s movie about Nostradamus called "The Man Who Saw Tomorrow." I love history and the concept of prophecies. I got obsessed with the whole 'knowing the future' thing at a young age because my family was a huge fan of this movie and believers of Nostradamus.

• The first 10K reads took 6 and half months updating weekly, the next 90K reads took 6 and half months, and here we are nearly 13 months after the story was first published. *squealing intensifies*

• There are no curse words in the story except shit, which is said 10 times.

• I'm 18 years old, I turn 19 this month (April 2021). I feel way older sometimes.

• I'm Asian.

• In my free time, I like to sketch, read and watch movies. I want to do a course in cinematography, film-making and/or scriptwriting. I want to work on movies someday.

• I've been on Wattpad for nearly five years now.

• My favourite Harry Potter fanfic on Wattpad in Potter by LilyBrooks. I've read that quite a few times, it's so well-written and I absolutely love how she handled the whole time-travelling thing way back in 2011.

• I'm a proud Slytherin.

• Ironically, I got into Harry Potter at the age of 11 when I first watched Chamber of Secrets on TV and wrote Myrtle's name on my bedroom wall (don't write on walls, kids, write on Wattpad) I thought the name was pretty and she was the first ghost that didn't scare me.

• For the longest time before that and even for some time after, I believed Harry Potter was a real dude. Does that mean I can say I've been planning this story since I was 11? Hmm...

• My favourite character in the whole Harry Potter series is Harry Potter, our under-appreciated sass king.

• My favourite character to write is Albus Dumbledore. His dialogues are just a joy to construct and his characterisation would be clear as the story goes on but only to those who actually pay attention to him... Also, I find it hilarious when everyone in the comment section gets utterly provoked with my synonym choices for the simplest words he says lmao

• I think the Cursed Child is an insult to all fanfics and fanfic writers out there, no matter what fandom. I'd buy that book only to set it on fire and watch it burn.

• I love both the movies and the books equally, hence why we have random plot boo-boos with sudden inclusion of movie moments. It's gonna keep happening. It's inevitable.

• I love writing this Fanfiction. I started because I saw the potential to grow the Wizarding World. It has been, and still is, my comfort blanket.

• And lastly,

• I

• LOVE

• ALL

• OF

• YOU!

Thank you for sticking around and reading my longass chapters and dealing with my weird writing style as I grow. Sending you best wishes and bear hugs wherever you are in the world!
