《Dead Air》Part 4

Completed my inventory check and then discovered that the two O2 bottles in the Soyuz capsule have been disconnected and apparently stowed elsewhere. I'm sure I would have spotted that when I went through the checklist. A few minor things have gone missing in the past few days, but the bottles are the first critical things to go astray. I can be a little absent-minded, especially recently, but this takes it to a whole new level.

Spent hours searching the station and eventually found both O2 bottles in the MPLM (Multi-purpose Logistics Module), neatly strapped to a rack. I have absolutely no idea when I put them there or why?! Feels like I'm losing it again. Reconnected both of them to the Soyuz. Everything is ready now.

Having second thoughts about going tomorrow. I can live up here for another month or more without having to touch the supplies I've stowed in the Soyuz. It would be easier if I had some idea what I'll be getting into when I land. Part of me thinks it's more sensible to stay here for a while as I know what I'm up against here, but another part thinks I'm just delaying the inevitable. I might be dead within hours of launching the Soyuz, but then if I stay here too long the capsule may not remain viable for the return trip anyway, leaving me stranded.

Just nerves I suppose. I'll sleep on it, run my pre-flights in the morning and decide then.

Barely started my pre-flight checks before I discovered the O2 bottles were gone again. I must be losing my mind. I can clearly remember reattaching them but have no memory at all of removing them or, more importantly, where I put them.

As before they were in the MPLM, neatly stowed. Seriously weird. There's no reason at all for me to store them there. That's just crazy. They should be fitted in the Soyuz at all times in case the need for an emergency evacuation arises. Evacuating without them would be suicide!

So I missed my planned launch date, but given my current mental state, I think more time to recheck everything would be wise. I can't risk getting this wrong. I got Arth to learn the pre-flight check-list. Now he can go through it with me and I can guarantee he won't miss anything or forget something.

I rechecked the supplies I've stowed in the Soyuz. That all appears to be fine. I will launch tomorrow morning.
