Jayceon -
"Daddy this shit is stupid," Harlem says as he throws his pencil down.
"Aye watch yo fucking mouth boy!" I yelled as I hit him upside his head.
"Ow!" He said as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Daddy you can't curse at us and expect us not to curse, plus that's another dollar," my sassy eleven year old daughter said as she held out her hand. I rolled my eyes reaching in my pocket while pulling out a dollar bill.
We had made a deal that every-time I cursed I would have to pay her a dollar, since I wasn't giving her allowance.
"Let me see what you need help with," I said grabbing his math book.
"It's this one daddy," he said pointing to number ten. I read the problem out loud a few times and this shit still didn't make since.
"Look I'm not good with this math stuff let me call uncle Kendrick he a know what to do," pulling out my phone I dialed Kendrick's number. Gladly he answered on the first ring.
"Yo Jayce wassup bro,"
"Wassup bro look I need help Harlem got this math problem I don't know how to answer this,"
"Man imma stop you right now I'm not even good with math but I got a friend who's great at it in fact she's a professor, let me give her a call and I'll call you right back," he said.
"Iight bro please call back," I said rereading the problem.
"In the meantime, save that for later do some of your other homework," I said as I went to the kitchen.
"Daddy what's for dinner?" King asked.
"I don't know man maybe I can order something.
"Daddy I'm tired of eating fast food I want a home cooked meal like what mama used to make," Cali said.
"Yeah like fried chicken macaroni,"
"Y'all know Daddy can't cook," Harlem said laughing.
"Boy shut up, I can cook, what y'all want," I lied. Truth was Harlem was right I couldn't cook for shit, my ex wife, God bless her soul, Victoria did all the cooking. She helped the kids with their homework, she maintained the house while I was working.
Not a day went by that I didn't miss her. I missed her liked crazy. A year ago was when she left the world way too soon. Me and Victoria had been together for years, we got married and decided to start our family. Everything was going good until that night. That one winter night that I had forgotten to pick up the kids.

I was working late at the office and I couldn't leave, my boss Mr. Washington had over loaded me with a lot of paperwork, paperwork that hadn't been filed in months, we had heard news that the district board was coming to do their surprise annual visit.
My boss went crazy pulling up files that had never been filed, cases that wasn't completed. Luckily all my paperwork was done. He had came to me and told me that if I helped him he would give me big bonus.
Shit times was hard I needed that bonus, Victoria wasn't making much money at her floral shop, we had bills to pay, the kids needed new clothes, the house needed to be repaired, I needed this offer so I didn't pass it up.
I guess in life you can't have everything, While doing the paper work I had got a call from the school, looking at the time I had forgotten that I had to pick them up. I called Vicky and she agreed to leave the floral shop and go get them.
Feeling relieved, I got back to work and was done within a two hour time span. No soon as I grabbed my jacket and briefcase to leave, my phone rang and it was the school again saying my wife had never made it to pick the kids up, and I had thirty minutes to come get them before child services and the police got involved.
Rushing to leave the office I called Victoria, but her phone went straight to voicemail. I called the shop they said she had left two hours ago. "Babe is everything okay? You said you were going to get the kids two hours ago, The school had called and said you never came did something come up? Please call me and let me know you're okay babe," I said frantically. But she never called.
After getting the kids, I took them home, Vicky had dinner already waiting, after getting them their baths and changed into their pjs, I fixed their plates and we all sat down to eat. Who knew this was going to be our first meal together without their mom.
While we were eating the door bell rang. I got up to see who it was and it was two police officers. "Can I help you officers?" I asked confused as to why they were here.
"Are you Jayceon Taylor?" The tall one asked.
"Yes, is something wrong officer?" I asked.
"And is this your wife?" He asked holding up a picture of Victoria.

"Yeah is she okay?" I asked getting worried.
"Sir were going to need you to come down to the morgue, we have a body that we believe maybe your wife," he said with his head down. I hurried up and called Kendrick he lived down the street, he was also my bestfriend. Once he came I explained everything to him and he agreed to watch the kids.
I left with the officers. On the way to the morgue my hands began to shake nervously. I prayed like hell it wasn't Victoria, that it was a mistake, that they had found somebody else's wife and not mines.
I pulled out my phone calling Vicky. I rang and I prayed she answered so that I could tell the officers that they had had the wrong family, but when her phone went to voicemail, tears began to form in my eyes. I had never been so scared before in my life.
When I got out the squad car I went inside, they led me to the back where the body was held. Once they pulled the white sheet off of her body, I broke down crying. It was her. I knew her tattoos. The small Jayceon tattoo that she had on her right breasts was what made me cry more.
After seeing her body I called her mother, her mom came down and she viewed Victoria's body. We cried together, and later that night I received the calling saying that Mrs. hunter had killed herself, and died. She left me a note explaining a detail how she couldn't live without her daughter, she couldn't see life without hearing her daughter. She behind money and valuables for me and the kids, but took away our hearts with her.
That week was the hardest for me. I got over the hard part by telling my children that they would never see their mother or grandmother again. My wife and her mother had enough insurance to cover their funerals and it was money left over. I was instructed by her mother to sell the house.
I sold it, but I kept my wife's business up, I couldn't see myself selling it, she worked so hard building from the ground up. I put up a hiring sign, and after a few months I hired three works to tend to the shop while I tended to my new company.
When the district board came, the found more missing files and misconduct on my bosses computer. My secretary Stacy had explained to them the hard work I had to do the last minute work that Mr. Washington had put on me, she also told them about my wife.
I don't know if it was Victoria looking over me, or if I had a guardian angel somewhere, but not only did I get a bonus, Mr. Washington was forced to resign and the company was given to me. I spent three hard years building the company back up, reiterating ideas, and coming up with new marketing skills, my company Taylor and Hunter's is now a well known company, top selling next to Apple and Samsung.
We sell phones, as well as keeping up stocks and right now the stock market was looking good. It wasn't as good when Obama was president, but that just means now we have to work smarter and reinvent different ideas. All I did was propose the ideas and agreed or declined ideas. Fourth grade math shouldn't be this hard but damn this shit looked like calculus. I texted Kendrick and few moments he texted me back saying he was about to call me.
******
Kendrick -
"Hey sis," I said as Amber picked up the phone.
"Hey bro what's going on?" She asked.
"Hey I need a favor my friend Jayce his son needs a lil help with his math homework I was wondering if you didn't mind helping him out?" I asked hoping and praying she said yes.
"Sure I don't mind helping I get out of class in ten minutes," she said.
"Okay thank you so much Amb I owe you one, I'll be there in fifteen to pick you up,"
"Okay cool,"
"Alright," I hung up from Amber and called Jayceon back.
"Aye bro she said she'll help she gets out of class in ten minutes so I'll go pick her up, and we'll be bye in the next hour or so,"
"Alright thanks bro I owe you one,"
"No problem man see you in a bit,"
"Alright,"
Hanging up the phone I smiled, thank you Harlem my plan was working I had been trying to get Jayceon and Amber together, who knew maybe this was the start of something new.

The Dao of Magic
Here I am, sitting on a mountain so far away from civilisation it might as well be the godforsaken arse of the world, about to ascend. Can't wait to leave this crapfest of a planet... Turns out that the higher ups decided that an unaffiliated rogue like me is too big of a risk to let run around free. Seems like this entire cultivation world is a late stage capitalist money making machine for the powers that be in the higher realms, and me stealing the good loot in front of their descendants and sect disciples noses finally pissed them off enough to take action. First, they sent all the sect masters and hidden dao protectors to off me - which failed, obviously. Heh, afterwards they simply bitch slapped me out of their universe though. That is interesting and all, but I just woke up in a valley watching some critters murder each other while trying not to freak out about how bad it smells here.Soo… where the fuck am I? I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
