Poem:

"get those straight a's

you tell me,

not thinking

about how

the weight of the world

is already

precariously balanced

on my small,

delicate

shoulders.

be the good sibling,

you say to me,

forgetting the fact

that my life is in shambles

but i must smile

with a smile

that doesn't reach my eyes

because it is

meaningless.

just do your best,

you assure me,

but i know that's a lie

because your best

is not mine;

your best

is what i strive for

everyday of my life

and i'm already

trying so hard."
