《Layers Of Suffering (Tokoyami BNHA)》Tormented

--
Tokoyami looked at his long lost classmate in disbelief.
"Belenus? I... I thought..." He couldn't get the words out. He was overwhelmed with emotions as he was brought back to his past with his friend.
He remembered striking his only friend with a mortal wound. An awfully gory one too.
"Shhhh... I don't care what you think." He whispered with lust.
--
Belenus studied the boy thoroughly. Tokoyami sat in a slanted position. His back arching downwards, his bird head facing the floor.
If he were not tied, he would've fallen face-first onto the concrete floor. However, his crimson red eyes did not waver away from him. The spotlight from above was blindingly bright, shining down at the teen's body. The white light illuminating even the black hero costume he was wearing.
His cape was taken off and placed on a nearby chair to prevent his Quirk from hiding beneath them. Dark shadow could still very well ambush him underneath the cape if he wasn't careful. The blinding light made his face disappear into the shadow he was casting. His eyes seemed to glow in the dark as he stared daggers at him.
Looking at the crow teen's helpless state, it pleasured him, almost in an erotic way. It reminded him of how his parents looked when they were on the floor; helpless and unmoving.
Now Tokoyami was alive and kicking, his life in his hands. He can't wait to begin.
--
Tokoyami first thought was regret, although it was short-lived.
"I am sorry."
He stated simply, his emotions building up.
"I am truly sorry that I involved myself with you. I thought you shared similar pain with me. I never wanted to put you into har-" his voice cracked. Tears started to accumulate in his eyes. He looked down and closed his eyes to prevent their escape.
When he opened his eyes again to look at the villain, he stopped feeling remorseful. What greeted him were a pair of blank eyes, devoid of emotion, as if any memory of Tokoyami did not affect him at all.
"Do you even remember me at all?"
--
Belenus vaguely remembers Tokoyami, it's not that his memories were taken away, it's his emotions. However, memories are usually remembered when it is associated with an emotion. When most of his emotions are taken away, he cannot recall exactly what happened.
However, he does still associate Tokoyami as an enemy. He still feels jealous somehow. That's because even if most of the emotions are taken away, there must still be some fraction of it left behind. When you empty out a bucket, there are still water droplets coated within the sides of the bucket. Even when you stand up of the chair, your skin cells remain on the chair as you leave.
"You radiate a sense of jealousy for whatever reason I do not know. My quirk allows me to eat away useless emotions that I do not need. My feelings for you are the same. Though, I must thank you for that."
The bird's eyes widened slightly, flinching a little when he heard that.
" You had a quirk? " he breathed out.
" Yes, and it was thanks to you. " Belenus stepped into the light and tilted his body upwards, letting light pour into his hole to his heart. The crystals within refracted in the light, glittering darkly. Tokoyami saw it and let out a small gasp.
"My quirk allows to place crystals, formed by my emotions, into other hearts. The body rejects the heart due to antibodies identifying the heart to be alien. They die a guaranteed painful death without a fight." Belenus whispered in Tokoyami's ear. Tokoyami listened intently, he flinched when he heard the last sentence.

He was quiet for a few minutes, a mixed expression shown on his face. Belenus saw another glint at his eyes as Tokoyami closed his eyelids again. Belenus saw Tokoyami's chest rise and fall quicker and faster as if he was breathing really quickly. He seemed to regain control himself as he looked up at him again.
" How do you put the crystals in without a fight? Do you need to claw your way in?" Tokoyami asked, wanting to learn as much information of Belenus quirk as he can.
"How about a demonstration?" Belenus said as his mouth morphed into a sinister grin.
--
(A few minutes back)
Tokoyami heard what Belenus quirk was. For the second time, he was shocked. For a stoic and a strong grip of his emotions, he wavered once again.
Such a cruel quirk, for the victims and the host. No wonder he became a villain, a person without emotions is going to handle things immorally. So that's why...Tokoyami felt pity overwhelm him as he realised something.
Belenus was probably jealous of his quirk, it probably grew to an extent which made it uncontrollable...
(a situation similar to Doki Doki Literature Club.)
All the characters negative emotions are amplified to the extent of lunacy.)
Belenus could've been a close friend of his... If it wasn't for his quirk.
He shut his eyes, feeling tears well up again. Slowly, he began to hyperventilate, dark spots danced around his eyes as he slowly drifted into unconsciousness.
Hey! HEY Toko! Relax! It already occurred in the past. It's history. Don't pass out in front of a villain, you're putting yourself in danger!
Tokoyami had forgotten that Dark shadow was there with him. He was so quiet that he had forgotten about his quirks existence.
He controlled his breathing and wondered at Belenus statement. He realised something illogical and asked Belenus.
" How do you put the crystals in without a fight? Do you need to claw your way in?"
He was responded with giving a demonstration, which made his blood run cold.
He felt Belenus' hands grasp the back of his neck, the world darkening after his touch. It was a cold sensation and made him flinch. However, he couldn't flinch... He couldn't even move.
That was when he realised, he wasn't even in his body anymore.
The world around him didn't darken because of his fear, it literally darkened until he was met with the darkest shade of black. His soul was still encased within his body, as his body did not have freedom, so neither does his soul. Dark shadow's existence seemed to have weakened in this state, a reason he did not know.
He saw Belenus floating above him, his thin but muscular form illuminating from an orb of light, almost like a hologram. He looked down to find that he was in the same situation, only trapped within his body where a strange golden aura surrounded his actual body, acting as a prison.
"What is this?" Tokoyami found himself to be able to speak normally, but as if he was in an anechoic chamber. It was deathly quiet, so quiet in fact, he could hear his heart beating. Or he thought was his heart...
He looked closely to find his actual body's heart was illuminated in a dull red. Same goes for Belenus, but he was covered in the black crystal he'd seen when Belenus showed him his quirk.
Belenus looked at him, eyes shining with malice as if he can't wait to show off something.
Tokoyami explored his surroundings again to notice a disc was in front of him. It was like a portal but he could see through the other side. There were wisps of energy surrounding its edges, deforming and bending light very similar to that of a black hole.

When he look thought the disc, however, he saw a scene of an infant getting tossed into the air, a wide smile on the baby. There was two hands on either of the portal's vision as the hands repeatedly tossed the baby into the air. Sounds of laughter vibrated through the disc.
No, this isn't a scene... It's from a perspective, a person's eyes! Tokoyami realised.
The visions changed constantly, showing the person's first kiss, the person opening a memento, the person laughing happily at his proposal as he kneel down to a woman...
All the visions were covered in a hazy like atmosphere, as if the place were bright and misty, almost like in a dream.
These are memories... memories that are important to the person.
"This aren't memories, they are strong emotions" Belenus corrected him as if he could read Tokoyami's soul. He looked over at the floating apparition. Apparently, he could; it's his domain after all.
"But I'm glad you figured out all this quickly. It'll be a pain to explain everything... Not that I will"
He returns his gaze to the disc again. This time, he saw another dull red glow, in the middle of the visions. It contained a single crystal similar to Belenus' but much bigger.
Belenus suddenly lurched forward and through the disc. As Tokoyami had expected, it was a functioning portal. The vision changed into the victim's actual body, his heart was more defined now.
"What are you trying to do?" Tokoyami said calmly at first, growing in shock as Belenus' slender fingers reached for the crystal on the victim's heart.
"Wait and see." he smiled as he read Tokoyami feelings, his actions answering Tokoyami's previous question.
He touched the crystal, making the black in the crystal transfer to the heart.
Tokoyami watched in horror as the victim widened his eyes and clawed at his heart. His face shown that he experienced excruciating pain and choked on a scream. His body was attacking the organ that was keeping him alive. He watched in horror as the victim's body was turning a shade of blue as the organ failed, causing the body to lack of oxygen as the heart stopped pumping.
He felt a shiver in his spine. It didn't stop there. The cells were attacking his heart so violently, it was basically ripping the heart into pieces, causing holes to form and massive internal bleeding.
Dead fish eyes stared back to Tokoyami as he saw blood escaping from the orifices of the person's face. The person took his last breath through gargled screams and a cough of blood.
Tokoyami screamed, the voice reverberating through his soul. He had witnessed a person's most valuable moments in their life immediately experienced their nastiest moment in life. A person's perception of life changes when they witness the best and the worst things in life. If he weren't in a vulnerable position, he would've broke down to insanity.
He felt helpless, dizzy and weak. Seeing what Belenus could do, he couldn't help but feel worried about his classmates. He had to find a way to save them. He had to plan an escape! "Don't worry about your friends..." Belenus started. Tokoyami flinched, but he was unable to do so again, Belenus had read his mind twice now. It wasn't a coincidence as he thought. He had to be careful. He lets his mind drift again... Something that he was burning to ask. "If you could kill people so easily, why didn't you end my life sooner?"
"Dark shadow protected you. My crystals require time to mature and each only can occupy one soul." Belenus explained as little as possible. Tokoyami looked down at his soul and saw something was different from his heart and Belenus'. His heart was similar to two cells dividing, conjoined together; He had two souls. This made Dark Shadow's existence reappear again as if Tokoyami was the one rejecting him in the first place. He also realised why Belenus' crystals were much smaller in his heart than in the victim's body.
"But even if he didn't, I still wouldn't have killed you that easily."
" You wouldn't? "
"You think you deserve a quick and simple death?" Tokoyami noticed the sadistic tone in his voice.
"Why......? We were once closest friends... I was once your closest friend! Even if you don't have emotions for me... At least you can try to remember our friendship?"
"To you, and possibly to Dark shadow, I'm your friend, but to no one else will anyone say we were friends. You were so desperate for a friend, you didn't even notice little hints of annoyance from me."
I never did. You betrayed him.
"I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't have a friend before. I don't know how to... react around one." Tokoyami realised why he was continuously stuttering. He was sobbing. He didn't notice it before how his actual body was shivering and tears flow down his unconscious body's eyes.
--
Belenus couldn't take his ramblings any longer. Tokoyami's quick recovery made him feel empty, he didn't satisfy his hunger. Tokoyami's screams were too short-lived.
I needed to break him more.
"Shut up. I don't care. I doubt you will too... "
he interrupted the grief-stricken boy. His plans that were never supposed to be uttered slipped out of his thought as he willed the other portals into his vision.
"Phase 2..."
He muttered. The scene suddenly brightened up significantly, wisps of energy were amplified by converging one another. 19 portals appeared around them.
As he read Tokoyami's thoughts, he smiled.
That's more like it.
--
Tokoyami got in control of his emotions by the sudden change in atmosphere. He was taken aback by the amount of victims he captured, but he weren't that affected...
until...
The memories that were playing in some of them were familiar... Too familiar.
Wait...
One of the memories even had him himself in it. "Shoji?" Tokoyami whispered in disbelief, his voice was cracking. He looked to the other portals one at a time.
"No... No... NO! "
Hid voice gradually increase as he recognise more and more of his class mate's memories. He found a pattern. His pulse increased as he quickened his breathing rate. A strong wave of vertigo hit him, he tried bending over to retch but it was impossible in his current state. All of his classmates were on the brink of death...and he had to witness it soon.
Just by hearing the voices of happiness and laughter made him sad... Very sad.
Even his classmates like Bakugo and Todoroki had such wonderful memories. Bakugo had a heartwarming (and rare) moment with his mother, after what seemed to be hours of arguing, they saw their father's state and both of them embraced him, tears were in their eyes as they found a moment of love in their family.
Tokoroki had little memories with his mother, probably due to the accident he had with his mum. Burning his face off probably affected his emotions and memories of her.
There were more memories of him playing with his brother and sister, even one was in UA, the sports festival where Midoriya had changed his perspective on his powers. It was an emotional moment for him. As he saw all of his classmates' memories... He noticed that not all of them contained happy memories.
The crystal revealed strong emotions felt by the victim, but unless it was too traumatising, people tend to not dwell on their negative memories the most. That's why when you say something to remind them, their mood changes. They mostly try to forget, but it's like a curse. It was especially certain for Shoji. He was constantly feeling a sense of insecurity to his classmates. He was constantly bullied in his memories.
"Shoji..."
He repeated again. He'd remember the time when Tokoyami was insecure, He saw Shoji looking at a mirror, revealing what's underneath the mask he'd been trying to protect.
Razor-sharp teeth were on his mouth. His mouth were extended much longer than a usual human's. He had an alligator's mouth on his face. Tokoyami was too shocked to react to Shoji's secret.
He was the one who recovered your mental state, yet he was the most vulnerable.
Tokoyami choked with emotion once again, he wanted to break down again, to cry at a corner, at the familiar sweet spot on his bed.
He witnessed how happy all of his classmates were, he saw all the emotions that his classmates held. As he recognised all of the visions, he felt much closer to them, like a friend who revealed their secrets to you; you feel that they are more trustworthy.
Looking back at himself, all he got were saddened emotions. Even when Shoji had traumatising moments, he still sought out to be good, to be optimistic.
What about him?
He had blamed himself for the danger of others, avoiding friendship with others. Maybe he was too traumatised by the first friendship he had that he was unable to make another. He tried to remember the first time he felt happy. There were none. His parents disown him when they found out he critically wounded another student. His closest friend betrayed him. His appearance had caused him to be unsociable. His quirk caused him to be a danger for others. He had no room for happiness. He felt worthless, his death was much more deserving than all 19 of his classmates.
After seeing even the most stoic or the most annoying person have even a positive outlook in life, he wanted them to continue, to continue living life. To continue experiencing happy moments in their lives. He was the one who supposedly caused their death after all. He activated Belenus hate, he activated his quirk, he endangered all of his classmates' lives.
Dark shadow never talks in short sentences, always wanting to make use of every time he talked to Tokoyami. However, he seemed to be sobbing this time. In this state of mind, however, it was translated to this. It was too much. Too much grief for a young teen. He couldn't control his emotions again as he saw his body's eyes watered again.
--
Belenus forced himself out of his vision, causing Tokoyami to do the same. Tokoyami was trying to stop himself from sobbing again.
Using two slender hands, he clutched the tear-drenched bird head's red choker
"Phase 3."
He muttered. Belenus' smile slowly broadened, both his hands were around Tokoyami's thin and fragile neck. Tokoyami wasn't leaning forward anymore, he was leaning on the chair as he pushed Tokoyami back.
Tokoyami's misery had drastically changed to shock and fury, flinching when he felt the hands around his neck. Without the ability to use his hands, his only reaction was to struggle in his bonds.
His unfamiliarity of human contact due to his distant nature caused the touch to be much more surprising than it actually was.
"Yes, struggle more, Tokoyami. That's what I like to see."
Hearing this, Tokoyami stopped struggling. It was feeding Belenus with lust. If he continued struggling, Belenus may go out of control. Belenus was now frustrated, a little annoyed that he had foiled his own satisfaction.
His grip tightened. Being a martial artist, Belenus slim fingers isn't to be underestimated.
Muscles and looks aren't everything. He definitely had more than enough power to snap Tokoyami's neck.
--
Tokoyami couldn't stop himself from struggling again, he was in danger and he wanted to counterattack. The bonds were securely tied in a position where he could not use brute force to rip open his bonds. Belenus had tied his hands in a position where he had to only use his wrist muscles for ripping the rope apart.
Dark shadow was not appearing under the chair either, there was probably a light source coming from the bottom too.
