《Handcuffed to My Enemy》1: Jake

Jake's POV
"You are such a butt, Jake Satak!"
"Jeez, Cassie, I never knew you wanted to see my ass all these years. If only you'd ask, maybe I would have - "
"That's it! I have had enough of your constant and immature fighting. Jake, Cassie, I have spoken to your parents and the principal. Three days. You will be handcuffed together for three days. Got it?" That shuts us up. I look up from the glaring blonde and face our health teacher, Mr. Simmons. The class is silent in anticipation of what's to come. Then I lose it.
"What the fuck?! You can't do that!" Mr. Simmons's look pierces through me, and he marches towards us with an outstretched hand. In it is no other than a pair of handcuffs.
"Oh, believe me, Mr. Satak, I can and I will. Your hands . . .?"
"Mr. Simmons, there is no way my parents would be okay with this," Cassie begins. I hold in a scoff because I know she can get us out of this. The smirk that creeps onto his face, however, tells me otherwise.
"Oh, really? Well, it just so happens that I have a form right here that states otherwise," his dry hand reaches into his breast pocket and he pulls out a piece of paper, complete with four distinctive signatures. Before Cassie can even react, I snatch the paper from his hands and skim it once. Twice.
His smirk broadens. I cannot believe my parents actually agreed to this.
"Now, if you wouldn't mind terribly - oh, who am I kidding? Just give me your hands and you can be on your way to Ms. Tampole's office for the usage of such foul language in the classroom, and to the teacher, no less!" My eyebrows lower even farther, but I know there is nothing I can do now.

I clench my left fist and hold it out in front of me. The metal is cold, but luckily there's enough space for my wrist to shift a little. I hear a snort behind me and shoot my glare to Fynn Hemps. He's leaning back in his chair with his eyes trained on me and his arms crossed in front of his chest. He's such an asshole; at least when I'm with a girl, she knows it's just a fling. Can't say the same for him.
The clanging of metal brings me back to the present, and I see Mr. Simmons drop a small key into the safe (yes, a safe) in his desk before locking it.
"Now, grab your things and leave this classroom at once. I will call down to Ms. Tampole to let her know you are on your way. Oh, and you both must create a 5-7 minute presentation on the other due a week from today. That will give you the weekend to complete it, as well."
The tugging of the handcuff on my wrist stops me from cursing the man out - again - and Cassie drags me from the room, closing the door softly behind us.
I look down at the blonde girl merely three inches shorter than me (no thanks to her basketball-height father), and our glaring contest begins again.
"This is all because of you! If you didn't 'accidentally' spill your coke all over my calc. homework last night, and then continue to flaunt about it in class today, this never would have happened!" I snort.
"You heard Mr. Simmons, he already had our parents' signatures, meaning that they knew about this before. In other words, it's not all my fault." My lip raises on one side, and I know my smirk only infuriates her even more. "Besides, it's not my fault you decided the dinner table would be a good place to finish your homework . . ." I trail off and her brown eyes slice through me. She lifts a finger from her non-handcuffed and hovers it in front of my face.

"Just because our parents are friends and insist upon weekly dinners, doesn't mean I'm changing my life around for it." I tilt my head lower, right in her face.
"Cassie, we've been doing this literally since we were born. I wouldn't expect any less of you." I step back and hold up our handcuffed hands, nudging my head in the direction of the principal's office. "Now, we should probably head to Ms. Tampon's office before we end up in even more punishment."
"It's Tamp, butthead." We start walking down the hall.
"Oh, I know, it's just so fun seeing you get your panties in a twist." This time she doesn't hold back the punch to my chest.
