《Nick Wilde X Reader | A New Partner》Pancakes

Nick put his menu down, "I'll have a coke."
She turned to you, "I'll have a [your beverage of choice]."
"Alright, I'll get those right out."
"Thanks."
Hmm. Glancing at the menu, you wondered if Nick knew what was best here...
"What are you getting?"
He leaned back in his chair, "Blueberry pancakes. Always. I love blueberries."
"Oh, sounds pretty good. I might get those too."
"Heh, so we're getting the exact same entrée?" He teased.
"Well... I'll order first... so it looks like you're copying me."
Nick crossed his arms, "We'll see about that."
As you both stared each other down, the waitress came back up to your table with your drinks.
After placing them and passing out straws, she pulled out a little notepad.
"Have we decided?"
You spoke quickly before Nick could, "Yeah--I'll have the blueberry pancakes."
"Alright," She scribbled down some notes and then angled her pen towards Wilde, "and for you?"
"I'll have the blueberry pancakes as well," He gave a smug smile towards her and she giggled.
...What? No! Pay attention to me, Nick!
"Got it, I'll get those out as soon as they're ready."
"Thank you," he said as he maintained his grin and looked back at you.
Normally, you'd be jealous, but you still couldn't resist his smile. So you had to look away and suppress an outburst of your own.
Nick didn't put his straw in, but you did. He started to take a drink.
Regaining your composure, and sensing the quiet, you decide to ask:
"So, uh, tell me about yourself."
Nick's eyes got wide at you while taking the sip. He tried not to choke on the coke as he put the drink down.

"Ha-," He coughs, "HAHA, that's," ...He clears his throat, "-that's the best you got?" His eyes were still wide and a huge smile spread across his face.
"What!? It was just a question!"
Nick points dramatically at his drink, "I. could. have. died!"
"How was I supposed to know you'd laugh?!"
"Hmpt."
Wilde glared playfully at you as he took a second sip of his drink. Peacefully.
Putting it down once more, "Well, despite my traumatic experience, I will answer your question... if you make it more specific."
"Hmm..." You rested your chin on your hand, what's a good question?
"Where do you live?"
"Zootopia. But, if you want to stalk me, it's 1955 Cypress Grove Lane."
"...I'm sure I can resist the temptation."
"Next question!"
"...What are you doing after this?"
He glanced at his paws and held it in the light, "Buying some roses."
"What?"
What?
"Um, roses for what?"
Nick looked back towards you, "Maybe I'll tell you later."
"But-"
You were cut off as the waitress walked up with a large round tray holding both of your entrees.
"Alright, first blueberry pancakes, and the second blueberry pancakes.
"Thanks."
"Thank you."
She smiled, "My pleasure. Call me over if you need anything." and walked off.
Looking back over, you saw that Nick had already begun pouring the syrup onto the pancakes.
"That was fast, huh?"
"Mhmm."
You grabbed the syrup as he handed it to you.
As you ate with less conversation, you began to wonder why he would need roses. Were they for you? Nick probably knows tons of people; maybe they aren't...
Either way! You weren't going to let it affect you too much. You shouldn't expect roses from him; it was you that asked what he was doing, anyways.

Eating food with someone like this wasn't necessarily relaxing, but it was still very enjoyable.
In the end, some syrup and half a pancake sat on your plate. Across from you, Wilde had cleaned his plate.
He looked all happy and was smiling more than usual.
The waitress came back, "So, for the check, separate or together?"
Originally, you would have paid, but Nick jumped in and said together before you could object.
In the little check-booklet-thing, he wrote something... but you didn't see what it was.
Standing up, "Ahh, ready?"
"Mhmm." You folded up the napkin and put it onto the plate.
Unfolding his sunglasses, he put them back on.
"Let's go then. I can drop you back off at your work."
"Cool."

The Hopeful Project
A pair of twins stumble their way into the world of blood magic, lizard people, and cultivation powered mecha-armor. And by stumble, I mean one of them falls on their face while the other laughs. [Writathon Participant] People read this far? What are you doing down here? Escape! The chapter buttons are over there, stop reading this. No? Fine. This book is an excuse to put a world I spent around 3-4 months of my life building over the pandemic into writing. I was planning on doing the writathon last year, but somehow managed to confuse October and November. Dont laugh, I'm already ashamed enough. This book is about a pair of twins, doing twin things: calling each other names, going to school, learning how to use their blood to become unstoppable, juggernaut, killing machines... You know, twin stuff. It's like if someone stuffed a school arc inside of a tournament arc inside of a war arc. A good time, basically. I hope you enjoy it.
